1. Intro
Thankyouforchoosingthe LEWITTDGT260.The LEWITTDGT260is a multi-purpose
USB microphone with a condenser capsule that provides crystal clear sound in every
situation. This unique microphone comes with LED illumination that is customizable
to your own preferences. We designed a powerful mixing software, the LEWITT
CONTROL CENTER. This software makes it very comfortable to manage two parallel
mixes, one for your audience and one personal monitoring mix. It also lets you control
every parameter of the microphone from your computer. Designed and engineered in
Austria, the DGT 260 is made for all that are simply looking for the best. Only the best
brings out the best in you!

5. Control Elements
5.1. User Interface
1Status indicator // white = ok, red = clipping occurs, off = in Settings mode.
2Metering // Select IN for input or OUT for output metering.
3Monitoring // Mix the output signal of your device with the input signal of your microphone.
Return // Monitor the output of your PC, e.g. playback signal.
Direct // The signal of the input is sent directly to the output of the DGT 260. This way you can
monitor the signal without any latency.
4 Low-cut lter // Use to get rid of unwanted low frequencies e.g. structure-borne noise (recom-
mend for all vocal applications).
5Pre-attenuation // Use for loud input signals to prevent clipping.
6LED Graph // Displays values for settings like headphone gain, input gain, and others.
7Output gain // Set headphone volume.
8Input gain // Set microphone gain.
9Jog Dial // Rotate and push to change settings.
10 Headphone jack // Your DGT 260 is equipped with a built-in headphone amplier, that allows
you to even drive high-impedance studio headphones. Connect your headphones to your DGT 260
using the 3.5mm headphone jack on the left side of your device.
11 Micro-USB port // Only use the supplied USB cable and make sure that your computer’s USB
port is suitable to power USB high-power devices with a current consumption of at least 500mA.

5.2. Operating Modes and Setup
Standard mode // Status Indicator (1) is illuminated in white. This is the default
state of the device - you can quickly access the headphone volume by turning the
jog dial (9) and check metering on the LED graph (6).
Settings mode // Enter Settings mode by pushing the jog dial (9) - the status
indicator’s (1) illumination will turn off.
In Settings mode you can change all the settings on your DGT 260 including: I/O
metering, monitoring options (3), low-cut lter (4), attenuation (5) and gain (7/8).
Rotate the jog dial (9) to change the selected value.
Push the jog dial (9) to jump to the next setting.
After 10 seconds your device automatically switches back to Standard mode.

6. Lewitt Control Center - Software Interface
(Windows only)
6.1. Overview
// The “LEWITT Control Center” software allows you to set every parameter of your
DGT 260 without touching the microphone.
// Adapt the LED color scheme to your personal taste.
// Use the “LEWITT Control Center” to manage different sound sources and to create two
independent mixes.
// Use Virtual I/Os to exchange audio signals with other applications.
6.2. Windows Setup
// Download and install the DGT 260 Control Center and follow the installation instructions
displayed. Make sure to download the appropriate version for your Windows version!
There is one version for Windows 7 or 8 and one version for Windows 10.
// After the installation is complete, connect your DGT 260 via micro-USB cable to your
computer, and wait until all drivers are installed and the device is ready to use.
// Open your Windows Control panel, choose “Hardware and Sound” -> “Sound” and make
your DGT 260 the default playback and recording device in Windows.
// Access the Control Center from your system tray on your Windows Taskbar (bottom
right).
// If you can not  nd the Lewitt logo in the system tray, open it from the Windows Start
menu or go to “C:\Program Files\Lewitt GmbH” .
// Now your DGT 260 is ready to use.

INPUT 3/4 to MONITOR mix (15b).

6.4. Analog and Virtual I/O
The DGT 260 incorporates an Analog and Virtual I/O system allowing all audio
programs to exchange audio signals.
The Analog I/O is identical with the hardware input and hardware output of your
DGT 260. Think of it as the bridge between hardware and software - exactly like
an audio interface. The Virtual I/Os are designed to route different sources to the
Control Center software and/or other audio programs.

INPUT 1/2 (analog) // This is the microphone input.
INPUT3/4 (virtual) // Use this inputto selectyour mix in otherapplications like any
DAW (Samplitude, Pro Tools, Cubase, ...), internet stream/broadcast applications
and VoiP services like Skype and QQ.

MONITOR // This is the DGT 260 headphone output.
OUTPUT1/2, OUTPUT3/4, OUTPUT5/6 // Use these outputs to route different
sources (processed vocals from DAW/VST rack, audio player, web browser,

6.6. Virtual Mixing Console
The most important part of the “Control Center” software is the virtual mixing
console. It gives control over all channels (analog and virtual I/O) in one place. Set
volume, mute or solo your channels independently.
// Channel Strip Overview
Name // Click into this box to rename your channel name.
Fader // Click, hold, and drag the mouse to adjust channel
volume.
Meter/ Scale // Indicates the channel’s input/output level.
Solo // Click to solely hear this channel on your MONITOR
mix. Please note “Solo” is just a monitoring function. The
signal is still sent to INPUT 3/4.
Mute // Click to mute channel.
Ducker // Use to automaticallylower the channel’s volume
based on the microphone input signal.
For details please see section 6.11 Ducker FX.
Mono // Monitor your personal mix in mono.

personal mix. All source signal’s metering color will be green (see Figure 6.8).
INPUT 3/4 VIRTUAL (blue color scheme) // This mix is meant to be used by other
applications to record or stream to the internet. Click anywhere on the bottom
right area to access your broadcast mix. All source signal’s metering color will be
blue (see Figure 6.9).
Please note that the sources of the two mixes do not differ, both mixes are sharing
the same sources. They differ only in the set levels of the different channels.
// Two mixes - MONITOR and INPUT 3/4(virtual)
There are two different mixes available. One is your personal MONITOR mix. The
other one is your INPUT 3/4 (virtual) mix. Each source channel is represented in
both mixes. You can set the volumes for the two mixes separately.
In this picture OUTPUT 5/6 is sent to MONITOR but not to INPUT 3/4 (virtual).
MONITOR (green color scheme) // This is your personal mix, it will be sent to
the headphone output. Click anywhere on the bottom left area to access your

6.7. Microphone Settings Panel
Input Gain // Sets the input gain of your microphone.
Attenuation // Activate for loud input signals to prevent
clipping.
Low-cut  lter // Reduces low frequencies. Activate when
recording vocals!
Monitoring // Sets the ratio between direct and playback
monitoring.
Buffer Size // Low buffer sizes have low latency, but are
more CPU-intensive. In case you experience audio drop-
outs try the next bigger buffer size.
Sample Rate // Is  xed at 48.000 Hz.

6.8. LED Settings
Try the different presets and adapt them to your style. Some presets indicate
relevant information like clipping, signal level and if the ducker is currently active or
not. Other presets are only used to create a nice mood for your vocal performance.
Check them all out and  nd your favourite!
Tip: your LED settings can be stored in global presets (see section 6.12).

6.9. LED One Shot Presets
The LED one shot presets are designed to give feedback,
intensify a certain atmosphere, or emphasize a speci c mood.
Click on one of the symbols in the LED Settings panel to trigger
a one-shot LED pattern to:
// Intensify a certain part of a song visually
// React spontaneously to your audience while streaming,
// Use it to givevisual feedback on quizzes or in online education
situations.

6.10. Settings / Linking / Updates
Linking // This allows you to link the fader and the mute button of a selected channel.
This channel now always has the same volume in both mixes - MONITOR and INPUT
3/4 (VIRTUAL) mix. A blue or green border around the fader and mute button indicates
a channel is linked.
Updates // Always try to be up to date as we are introducing new features on a regular
basis.

6.11. Ducker FX
A channel’s volume can be automatically lowered when the software detects a
microphone input signal above a certain threshold. This way your voice and the
playback are in perfect balance. Ducker is available for OUTPUT 1/2 and OUTPUT
3/4.
Please note that Ducker settings are always affecting the channels in both mixes
(MONITOR and INPUT 3/4).
Threshold // If the microphone signal(green meter) is above the fader(small white
line) the gain reduction will be triggered. Use the fader to set a value to de ne
when the ducker is being activated. Every input signal that is weaker than the set
value will have no effect on the channel’s volume. Only when your input signal is
stronger than the set threshold value, the reduction of the channels volume will
become active.
Reduction // The ducker reduces the signal’s volume by the set value in dB.

Hold // This de nes how long after the threshold is undershot the volume
reduction will still be active. Setting a very short hold time can result in a chopped
sounding signal.
Response // This value de nes how responsive your signal is to the ducker effect.
A fast setting reduces the volume very quickly, but also restores the channel’s
volume very quickly. A slow response means it takes more time before the volume
is fully reduced to the set “Reduction” value.

There is no ideal ducker setting as it heavily depends on the intended application. Note
that the threshold depends on many factors as input gain, distance to the microphone
and your volume.

6.12. Presets (Global)
Click to show all available presets, import presets, or save your current settings
as a preset. If you found your perfect setting, save it as a preset. We have created
presets for the most common applications for you.
Section 9 - Applications provides detailed expanation of the presets.

7. Using your DGT 260 with an Apple/Mac Computer
OS X (10 6 and up) // Connect the DGT 260 your computer’s USB port. It is plug and play and
does not require an installation.

8. Before you start
8.1. Microphone positioning and Setup
1. High-quality microphones like the DGT 260 are very sound sensitive. You
probably will not notice unwanted sounds right away. Take a minute to check for
noise from outside, fans, air conditioners etc. In most cases it is not possible to
get a completely quiet room, but that is not a big problem. Try to position the
microphone and sound sources you like to record away from unwanted noise
sources. The DGT 260 features a cardioid polar pattern, so it will reject sound
coming from behind.
2. For recording vocals we recommend to keep a distance of 10-20 cm to the
DGT 260. The bigger the distance the more input gain is necessary to get a strong
clear signal.
3. In case you record acoustic instruments, try different rooms if you have the
possibility, every location sounds different.
4. A living room will sound balanced, quite dry and will be ideal for most situations
like vocals and spoken word. A bathroom of course will sound more live, because
of all the reective tiles, in some situations it can be an interesting place. Finding
the right location can make a big difference!
5. Always activate the low cut on the DGT 260 while recording vocals.
8.2. Set the Input Gain
1. You always need to check your input gain before recording. With the correct
input gain you ensure optimal signal to noise ratio and avoid distortion. Set
everything up for your recording session, speak or sing for a while and look at the
input meter, on your DGT 260, the Control Center software or at an input meter
in a recording software.
2. Simple advice: Select the LED preset “Input meter” and make sure the LEDs
illuminate in green and shows little to no orange or red.
3. Advanced advice: Make sure you get enough signal level and also take care to
leave enough headroom. Your average level should be around -18dBfs and the
signal peaks at -10dBFS maximum. This depends on the sound source of course
and is not an iron rule but a good guideline.
NOTE: Use the mic settings tab to change the input gain, the “INPUT 1/2”
fader is only used to change the channel volume and NOT to change the
input gain.
