This
section walks you through the necessary steps to set up
and turn on yourphone, set up yourvoicemail, establish
passwords, and contact Sprint forassistance with your
Sprint service.
SettingUpYourPhone
1. Install the battery.
nInsert the battery into the opening, making sure
the connectors align (1). Gently press down to
secure the battery (2).
2. Press to turn the phone on.
nIf yourphone is activated, it will turn on, search for
Sprint service, and enterstandby mode.
nIf yourphone is not yet activated, see “Activating
YourPhone”on page 3 formore information.
3. Make yourfirst call.
nUse yourkeypad to enter a phone number.

IfyoupurchasedyourphoneataSprint Store,
yourphone
should be activated and ready to use.
Ifyoureceived yourphone in themailand itis foranew
Sprintaccountoranewline ofservice,
you need to take a
few steps to activate yourphone.
1. Afterturning the phone on, press
>Web
.
(There is no charge to use this service during
activation.)
2. Follow the onscreen prompts to update yourprofile
and activate yourphone. A message is displayed
when the process is completed.
3. Yourphone should poweroff and then back on. If
this does not occur, press and hold to power
the phone off and then press and hold to power
the phone back on.
4. To confirm your activation, make a phone call.
Ifyoureceived yourphone in themail andyouare activating
anew phoneforanexisting numberonyouraccount,
you
will need to contact Sprint CustomerService to activate
yournew phone.There are two activation options:
nFrom yourcomputer’s web browser, go to
www.sprint.com/activate
and complete the
onscreen instructions to activate yourphone.
When you are finished, complete steps 1–5 in
option B above.
nPress from your
new
phone to
contact Sprint CustomerService to complete the
phone activation.
When you have finished, make a phone call to confirm
youractivation.
Tip Do not press
END
while the phone is being
activated. Pressing
END
cancels the activation
process.
Note Yourphone’s battery should have enough charge
to turn on, find a signal, set up yourvoicemail, and
make a call.You should fully charge yourbattery as
soon as possible. See “Charging the Battery”on
page 17fordetails.

All unanswered voice calls to yourphone are
automatically transferred to yourvoicemail, even if your
phone is in use orturned off.Therefore, Sprint
recommends that you set up your voicemail and
personal greeting as soon as yourphone is activated.
1. From standby mode, press and hold .
2. Follow the system prompts to:
nCreate yourpasscode.
nRecord yourname announcement.
nRecord yourgreeting.
nChoose whetherto activate One-Touch Message
Access (a feature that lets you access messages
simply by pressing and holding , bypassing
the need foryou to enteryourpasscode).

As a Sprint customer, you enjoy unlimited access to
yourpersonal account information, yourvoicemail
account, and yourSprintVision®account.To ensure that
no one else has access to yourinformation, you will
need to create passwords to protect yourprivacy.

username and passwordwhen you sign on to

If you are concerned about unauthorized access to
