Introduction
This LINDY USB Cat.5 Extender with Hub can be used to
extend the distance between USB devices and a host computer
by up to 50m. It consists of a local unit with USB Type A
connector (host computer side) and a remote unit (device side)
with a built in USB 1.1 4 port hub. A standard Cat. 5 network
cable (UTP or STP) up to 50m length is used to connect the two
units.
The Extender supports USB 1.1 & 2.0 Full Speed data transfer
(12Mbps) at distances of up to 50m. At a maximum length of
40m for the Cat.5 interconnect cable, ONE additional USB hub
(with power supply) can be connected to each port of the
remote unit, to connect more than 4 devices.
When the USB devices you want to connect to the remote unit
require more than 250mA in total (find this information in the
Device Manager tab when you connect the devices to your
computer), an optional USB power supply (5V DC regulated,
e.g. LINDY Nr. 73818 must be connected to the remote unit for
proper operation of the USB devices.

Note! This unit works transparently to the USB bus. It does not
fully meet all USB specifications and as such only registers as a
USB hub with the USB bus. It is capable of extending the USB
maximum distance of 5m by one USB segment only. You
cannot daisy-chain extenders. Please consider these
limitations, otherwise the USB bus may not function correctly! It
should also be directly connected to an exclusive (i.e.
mainboard) USB port on your computer.
Please note! When using a high current USB device such as a
modem, camera etc. with this USB Extender you must connect
an optional power supply (not included).

Einführung
Der LINDY USB Cat.5 Extender mit Hub wird verwendet um
Distanzen zwischen Computer und USB Geräten auf bis zu
50m zu erweitern. Er besteht aus einer lokalen Einheit (mit
USB-Kabel mit Typ A Stecker, Computerseite) und einer
Remote-Einheit (Device-Seite) mit eingebautem USB 1.1 4
Port Hub. Zur Verbindung werden Standard-Netzwerkkabel
bis zu 50m Länge (Cat.5 oder höher) verwendet.
Der Extender unterstützt USB 1.1/2.0 Full Speed
Datentransfer (12Mbit/s) bis 50m. Bei einer maximalen
Netzwerkkabellänge von 40m kann an jeden Port des USB
Hubs am Remote Unit EIN weiterer USB Hub angeschlossen
werden.
Wenn die anzuschließenden Geräte zusammen einen
höheren Strombedarf als 250mA haben (diese Inforamtion
finden Sie im Gerätemanager), muss ein optionales Netzteil
(5V DC, z.B. LINDY Nr. 73818) angeschlossen werden.

Dieser USB Extender arbeitet im USB Bus transparent und
erfüllt nicht alle USB Spezifikationen. Er wird nur als USB Hub
im USB Bus angemeldet. Daher kann er auch die maximale
USB Segmentlänge von 5m überschreiten. Es können nicht
mehrere dieser Extender hintereinander verwendet werden.
Bei Überschreitung der Angaben kann das Funktionieren nicht
garantiert werden.
Achtung: Bei Anschluss von USB High Current Devices mit
hohem Stromverbrauch wie USB-Modem etc. muss immer mit
ein optionales Netzteil verwendet werden (nicht enthalten, z.B.
LINDY Nr. 73818).

Introduction
L´USB Extender peut être utilisé pour étendre la distance
entre un ordinateur et un périphérique USB jusqu´a 50 mètres.
Cela consiste en une unité locale avec connecteur USB Type
A (côté ordinateur) et une unité distante (côté périphérique)
avec un Hub USB 1.1 4 ports intégré. Un câble Cat.5 STP
standard est utilisé pour connecter les deux boitiers. L’
Extender supporte les transferts de données à 12 Mbits jusqu’
à 50m. Sur une longueur maximale de 40m, un second hub
pourra être interconnecté pour bénéficier de plus de
connexions USB. Si les périphériques USB que vous
souhaitez connecter utilisent plus de 250mA au total, une
alimentation optionelle est nécessaire (Art. 73818) et doit être
connectée au boîtier distant.

Ce boîtier travaille de facon transparente sur le bus USB. Il
sera reconnu en tant que hub USB dans le système. Vous ne
pourrez pas chaîner les Extenders et il est nécessaire de les
brancher directement sur un port USB de l’ ordinateur !
Cet appareil ne répond pas à toutes les spécifications USB. Il
permet d’ étendre la longueur maximale de 5m de la norme
USB pour un segment.
Remarque Importante: Si vous utilisez un périphérique
consommant beaucoup de puissance, comme des modems,
etc. vous devez obligatoirement utiliser l’ alimentation
optionelle pour l’ Extender !

Introduzione
Il Lindy USB Extender con Hub permette di utilizzare
periferiche USB fino a 50m di distanza dal computer. Questo
prodotto è composto da un’unità locale con un connettore
USB tipo A (per il computer) e da un’unità remota con un
connettore USB tipo A femmina (per la periferica) con un
Hub USB 1.1 4 porte integrato. Per connettore queste due
unità si utilizza un cavo di rete standard Cat. 5 (UTP o STP)
lungo fino a 50m.
L’ Extender supporta le specifiche USB 1.1 e 2.0 con
velocità di trasferimento dati di 12 mbps fino a 50m distanza.
E’ possibile collegare un Hub addizionale con alimentatore
ad una distanza massima di 40m per connettere più di 4
periferiche USB.
Nel caso in cui le periferiche USB che si desidera collegare
richiedano complessivamente più di 250mA è necessario
collegare un alimentatore USB addizionale, art. 73818.

Questa unità non risponde completamente a tutte le
specifiche USB e non verrà riconosciuta dal Bus USB come
Hub USB. E’ possibile raggiungere una distanza massima di
50m utilizzando un solo apparato, non è possibile collegare
più Extender in cascata.
L’ utente deve tener conto di tutte le raccomandazioni
precedentemente descritte; in caso contrario il Bus USB
potrebbe non funzionare correttamente. Questa periferica
deve essere connessa direttamente ad una porta USB del
PC.
N.B.:
Se utilizzato periferica USB ad alto assorbimento di corrente
(Modem, Drive Esterni, ecc.) con questo Extender,
ricordatevi di collegare sempre un alimentatore aggiuntivo
(non in dotazione).
