TrainMaster Command Control operations
rainMaster Command Control operations
Use your CAB-1 Remote control to operate the Breakdown B-Unit in the Command Control
environment. The TMCC components are available separately. See your authorized Lionel dealer
for details.
Activating the breakdown scenario in the Command Control
environment
1. Be sure that there is smoke fluid in the locomotive's smoke generator. f you are operating the
locomotive for the first time, add 10-15 drops. Add a few more drops when smoke production
decreases. f you do not want to operate your locomotive with smoke, slide the smoke unit switch
to the OFF position.
Never operate the locomotive's smoke generator without smoke fluid. Damage to the
locomotive may occur.
2. Place the locomotive on the track, and increase track voltage to full power (no more than
19 volts). On PowerMasters, slide the CMD/CONV switch to CMD. Program Track Power Controller
to Command Control operation.
For full operation, be sure that the Command reverse unit switch is in the RUN position,
the sound switch is in the SND position, and the smoke switch is in the SMK position.
3. While the breakdown unit is in motion, address the breakdown unit by pressing ENG and the
unique D#, then press AUX1 and BOOST on the remote controller.
4. Smoke production will start shortly after the scenario begins. The breakdown scenario will
continue to play as long as the B-unit is in motion. f you bring the locomotive to a stop after the
scenario has started, you have FOUR choices.
• Throttle up slowly and return to the yard at a crawl. You will hear the train crew nervously
struggling to "nurse" the unit along. By moving slowly, you may have time to return to the yard
before the engine fails completely.
• gnore the problem, throttle up quickly and race down the mainline. But be warned: highballing
will make the engine fail quickly! Hear the sound of a catastrophic engine failure? Better luck
next time!
• f you don't think you can make it back to the yard, you can shut down the B-unit with a 5 key
(without an AUX1-prefix). n this case, you'll hear dialog of the train crew calling the dispatcher
and letting him know they've shut down the troublesome power-plant. Consider this outcome "a
draw."
• f you nursed the engine back to the repair yard before it broke down completely, stop the train
and hit AUX-1, 5. You'll hear dialog indicating the train has been successfully brought back to
the yard before a catastrophic failure. You've won!
5. After the scenario ends, press AUX1, 3 to restart the locomotive. To start the sequence again,
press AUX1, BOOST. 7
