Preface
Thank you for purchasing the LMP NexGen Keypad WKP-803! The LMP NexGen Keypad
is specifically designed for to use as a stand-alone numeric wireless keypad with any
Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer1.
Before using the LMP NexGen Keypad, read this manual and the
FAQ carefully. Keep the User Manual for future reference.

Windows OS is supported! Not all Bluetooth dongles may support LMP NexGen Keypad in all its
functions!

Overview
Getting Started
Place the LMP NexGen Keypad upside down on a skidproof surface. Open the battery
compartment by gently pressing on the arrows with your two thumbs until you hear a
click. Remove the battery cover.

Place the AA-size battery in the battery compartment.
Make sure the battery is placed according to the polarity
symbols (+/-) shown in the battery compartment!
Turn on the LMP NexGen Keypad by switching the lever to the „On“ position. The LMP
NexGen Keypad is now turned on. The LED indicator will flash briefly.

Pairing the LMP NexGen Keypad in Mac OS X
4 Choose the Apple menu and open the „System Preferences.“ Under „Inter-
net & wireless communication“ (OS X 10.6 and higher)/„Hardware“ (OS X
10.5) you will see a Bluetooth icon. If you do not see the icon, your Mac
does not have Bluetooth.
4 Enable Bluetooth. Under „System Preferences“ click the Bluetooth icon and
make sure you see „Bluetooth: On“ under the „Settings“ tab. If it‘s not tur-
ned on, click „Turn Bluetooth On.“
4 Click the „+“ tab (setup new device) in the left window to pair a new Blue-
tooth device (for Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.8). The Bluetooth assistant opens.
(With Mac OS X10.5, the Bluetooth assistant may ask what kind of device
you are going to pair. Choose „keyboard“ and click „continue“). With Mac
OS X 10.9, the Bluetooth assistent searches automatically for new Bluetooth
devices.
4 Press the Pairing Button on the back side of the LMP NexGen Keypad with
a pen to set up a connection to your Mac. Once the pairing process has
started, the LMP NexGen Keypad‘s LED will start to flash in green.
4 In the dialog box the device „Bluetooth Keypad“ or„LMP Keypad“ will ap-
pear. (If it is not listed, make sure that LMP NexGen Keypad is turned on
and in pairing mode. Then click „Search Again“ in the „Bluetooth Device“
dialog box).
4 Click on „Bluetooth Keypad“ or„LMP Keypad“ and press „continue“. The
Bluetooth Identification Code (8-digit ID for Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.8; 6-digit
ID for 10.9) of the LMP NexGen Keypad will be shown on your screen.
4 Enter the 8-digit or 6-digit ID on your LMP NexGen Keypad according to
the digits shown on your screen and press the „enter“ key on your LMP
NexGen Keypad at the end. Click „OK“ and the LMP NexGen Keypad should
be listed in the „Devices“ tab under „Bluetooth Preferences“ (marked with a
green dot and „connected“).
Make sure that you have Bluetooth support on your Mac and
Mac OS X 10.5 or higher installed. The LMP NexGen Keypad may
work with older Mac OS X but it is not officially supported.

When you enter a digit on the LMP NexGen Keypad, it is not
highlighted as with some other Bluetooth devices. Keep ente-
ring the digits quickly and press the „enter“ key on the LMP
NexGen Keypad at the end. If it takes too long to enter the
8-digit ID or if you have entered a wrong digit, you may have
to enter the ID again.
Using the Pairing Button
4 You may use the pairing button after you have changed the battery (you
need to set up the LMP NexGen Keypad like you did for the first time) or
when the connection is constantly lost, follow the Manual „Pairing the
LMP NexGen Keypad in Mac OS X“
4 If you have used the LMP NexGen Keypad with another Mac computer, you
have to set up the LMP NexGen Keypad again. Follow the Manual „Pairing
the LMP NexGen Keypad in Mac OS X“

How to activate the „=“-sign in Windows
4 To assign the „=“-sign‘s position while working in Windows (which is de-
rived from the main keyboard‘s position of the „=“-sign you are using), you
must press a specific double-key combination once. After you have done
it, the LMP NexGen Keypad will remember the position and display the
„=“-sign until you change the main keyboard‘s layout or language. Select
the double-key combination according to the table below.
4 Example: You are working with an Italian Windows keyboard layout. Thus
you must press the key combination„0“ and„delete “ once. After
this, the LMP NexGen Keypad will always display a“=“ sign when pressing
the„=“ key.

4 You can find the table on the back side of your LMP NexGen Keypad.

Power Management
The LMP NexGen Keypad has a power safe mode. Once you turn
off your Mac the LMP NexGen Keypad will go to sleep in order
to save battery power. To wake it up, press any key on the LMP
NexGen Keypad and it will re-connect within a few seconds.
4 To power off the LMP NexGen Keypad, move the power lever to the „Off“
position. You should see the message „lost connection“ on you screen.
4To power on the LMP Nex Gen Keypad again, move the power lever to the
„On“ position and press any key on the LMP NexGen Keypad. You may see
the message „connected“ on your screen or in the Bluetooth assistant. You
can use the LMP NexGen Keypad again.
4 The LMP NexGen Keypad displays a low-battery warning by flashing LED
in the interval of 1 second on (green) and 1.5 seconds off (no LED). You
should change the battery now to avoid any sudden loss of connection.
4To change the battery turn off the LMP NexGen Keypad, insert a of fresh
battery and turn on the Keypad. Press any key and the connection should
be re-established. If you do not get a new connection you may have to
re-pair the LMP NexGen Keypad. Follow the Manual „Pairing the LMP Nex-
Gen Keypad in Mac OS X“.
4 The LMP NexGen Keypad greatly reduces the power consumption automa-
tically when it is in idle mode (connected, but no keying). In fact, the power
consumption in idle mode is only about ¼ (about 0.65 mA) of the con-
sumption of the keying mode (typing on the LMP NexGen Keypad; about 3
mA). This feature greatly extends the battery life.
4 The LMP NexGen Keypad uses 1 AA size battery. You can either use non
rechargeable or rechargeable battery.
The pairing time of LMP NexGen Keypad with your Mac computer
normally just takes a few seconds. However, it may take up to 40
seconds with some Bluetooth dongles.

FAQ
The LMP NexGen Keypad shows an erratic behavior such as a sudden loss of
connection, sleep mode after a short time (i.e. only a few seconds), no connection
possible when trying to pair
Erratic behavior of the LMP NexGen Keypad can be a result of (too) low battery power.
You should change the batteries now.
Can the LMP NexGen Keypad be connected with various Mac computers, i.e. an
iMac and a MacBook, and switch back and forth?
No, the LMP NexGen Keypad can only be connected with one Mac computer at a time.
When switching to another Mac, the pairing needs to be re-done. It is recommended to
delete the „Bluetooth Keypad“ or„LMP Keypad“ first before re-pairing is performed. You
can delete it by choosing the „Bluetooth Keypad“ or„LMP Keypad“ and clicking on the
„-“ sign in the left window. Follow the steps under „Bluetooth Pairing under Mac OS X“.
The„clear“ key has a different function under Windows!
While working in Windows the„clear“ key acts as numlock key. By pressing numlock,
the LMP NexGen Keypad can be used according to the layout below. To go back to
numbers, press the„clear“ key again.
The LMP NexGen Keypad does not work
anymore with Windows OS
You may have accidentally pressed the
„clear“ key, which locks the LMP NexGen
Keypad (numlock function). Unlock the
LMP NexGen Keypad by pressing„clear“
again.
Can the battery power status be read in
the Apple System Preferences like with
the Apple wireless keyboard?
No, there is no reading for the current
battery power status on your screen. How-
ever, the LED will start flashing (1 second
on, 1.5 seconds off) to indicate low power.
You should change the battery to avoid
any loss of connection.

When using the LMP NexGen Keypad with my iPad it does not work properly.
The LMP NexGen Keypad is specifically designed to work with desktop or portable Mac
computers. It does not support iPad which is clearly stated on the packaging. The iPad
allows only one keyboard/input device to be connected at a time. Thus if you connect
the LMP NexGen Keypad, the internal iPad keyboard is non-operational.
On the LMP NexGen Keypad, there is a „.“ (decimal) key. In my language, the „,“ is
used as the decimal sign. Will the LMP NexGen Keypad display a „.“ or a „,“?
Whether the LMP NexGen Keypad displays a (decimal) „.“ or a (decimal) „,“ depends on
the Mac OS installed (keyboard layout/language), i.e. in French OS/keyboard layout, the
decimal key displays a „,“ while in Swiss OS/keyboard layout, a „.“ is displayed. You may
change the default setting of the decimal sign here:„System Preferences“ –>„language“
–>„Text“ –>„Region“. Go to„Numbers“ and select„Configure“. A table will be shown
where you can set the decimal sign to„.“ or„,“. Note that this will only apply to certain
programs such as MS Excel (while in MS Word it will be using the OS default).
During the pairing process with the Mac, there is a window displayed called
„Keyboard identification“. I am supposed to press the key next to the shift key.
But there is no shift key on the LMP NexGen Keypad. What do I need to do?
The message can be ignored. Simply press the red button in the upper left corner to
close this win-dow. Your Mac will recognize the LMP NexGen Keypad.
The connection to my Mac is lost from time to time or lost completely. The
Bluetooth Keypad does not seem to be connected anymore to my Mac. This
happened after I updated the OS.
An update of the OS can lead to a damaged Bluetooth thread as well as other reasons
such inter-ferences from other electronic devices or system crashes. Follow these steps
to renew the Bluetooth connection:
1) Remove all entries of „Bluetooth Keypad“ or„LMP Keypad“ in the Bluetooth Assi-
stant‘s menu by selecting them and pressing the „-“ button in the lower left corner.
2) Turn off the Mac and Bluetooth Keypad.
3) Start your Mac and turn it off again (after the OS has booted without any entries of
the LMP NexGen Keypad in its Bluetooth directory).
4) Start your Mac again and install the LMP NexGen Keypad from scratch. The connec-
tion should be re-established.

entschieden haben! Das LMP NexGen Keypad kann mit jedem Bluetooth-fähigen Mac
Computer verbunden und benutzt werden1.
Bevor Sie das LMP NexGen Keypad in Betrieb nehmen, sollten Sie dieses
Handbuch sowie die FAQ sorgfältig studieren!

Überblick
Erste Schritte
Legen Sie das LMP NexGen Keypad, Rückseite gegen oben, auf eine nicht rutschfeste
Unterlage. Öffnen Sie das Batteriefach, indem Sie mit beiden Daumen vorsichtig auf
die mit Pfeilen markierten Stellen drücken, bis Sie ein Klicken hören. Entfernen Sie die
Batteriefach Abdeckung.

Setzen Sie die mitgelieferte AA Batterie ein.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Batterie gemäss den vorgegebenen
Polaritätssymbolen (+/-) im Batteriefach eingesetzt wird!
Schalten Sie das LMP NexGen Keypad ein, indem Sie den Einschalthebel in die Position
„On“ bewegen. Das Keypad ist jetzt eingeschaltet. Die LED blinkt anschliessend kurz auf.

Bluetooth Verbindung unter Mac OS X
4 Öffnen Sie das Menü „Systemeinstellungen“. Unter „Internet & Drahtlose
Kommunikation“ (Mac OS X 10.6 und höher)/„Hardware“ (Mac OS X 10.5
sollten Sie das Bluetooth Symbol finden. Falls dies nicht der Fall ist, verfügt
der Mac nicht über Bluetooth.
4 Gehen Sie zu„Systemeinstellungen“ g„Bluetooth“. Stellen Sie sicher, dass
Bluetooth aktiviert ist, indem Sie das Häkchen in„Aktiviert“ gesetzt haben.
Drücken Sie„+“ in der unteren linken Ecke des Fensters (Ab Mac OS X 10.9
sucht Ihr Mac automatisch nach neuen Bluetooth Geräten).
4 Drücken Sie den Pairing Knopf auf der Rückseite des LMP NexGen Key-
pads mit einem spitzigen Gegenstand, um das LMP NexGen Keypad beim
Mac anzumelden. Die LED des LMP NexGen Keypads blinkt grün; Ihr Mac
sollte das LMP NexGen Keypad nun als „Bluetooth Keypad“ oder„LMP Key-
pad“ auflisten. Drücken Sie anschliessend auf „Fortfahren“.
4 Im Dialogfeld sollte nun „Bluetooth Keypad“ oder„LMP Keypad“ stehen.
Falls dies nicht der Fall ist, kontrollieren Sie, ob das LMP NexGen Keypad
eingeschaltet ist und drücken Sie nochmals den Pairing Knopf. Drücken
Sie anschliessend „Fortfahren“.
4 Wählen Sie „Bluetooth Keypad“ oder„LMP Keypad“ und drücken Sie auf
„Fortfahren“. Es erscheint ein 8-stelliger Zahlencode (bei Mac OS X 10.5 bis
10.8; ab 10.9 ist es ein 6-stelliger Zahlencode).
4 Geben Sie diese Zahlen auf Ihrem LMP NexGen Keypad ein und drücken
Sie anschliessend die„enter“ Taste (ebenfalls auf dem LMP NexGen Key-
pad!). Drücken Sie „OK“; das LMP NexGen Keypad sollte nun im Bluetooth
Dialogfeld (mit grünem Punkt und „Verbunden“) aufgelistet sein.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass Ihr Mac Bluetooth unterstützt und dass
Sie OS X 10.5 oder höher installiert haben. Das LMP NexGen
Keypad kann auch mit älteren Mac OS X arbeiten, was aber vom
Hersteller nicht offiziell unterstützt wird.

Gebrauch des Pairing Knopfes
4 Es kann sein, dass nach einem Batteriewechsel das LMP NexGen Keypad
neu verbunden werden muss (dies muss aber nicht der Fall sein! Versuchen
Sie, ob das LMP NexGen Keypad nach dem Einschalten erkannt wird und
funktionsfähig ist, indem Sie auf eine beliebige Taste drücken). Ist dies
nicht der Fall, folgen Sie der Anleitung„Bluetooth Verbindung unter Mac
OS X“.
4 Falls das LMP NexGen Keypad mit einem anderen Mac verbunden resp.
benutzt wurde, müssen Sie das LMP NexGen Keypad neu verbinden. Fol-
gen Sie der Anleitung„Bluetooth Verbindung unter Mac OS X“.
Bei der Eingabe der ID werden die eingegebenen Ziffern
nicht, wie bei gewissen anderen Bluetooth Geräten, speziell
gekennzeichnet. Geben Sie die Ziffern zügig ein und drücken
Sie anschliessend die„enter“ Taste auf dem LMP NexGen Key-
pad. Falls Sie dabei zu viel Zeit benötigt oder eine falsche Ziffer
eingegeben haben, muss die ID nochmals eingeben werden.

Aktivieren des„=“-Zeichens unter Windows
4 Um das „=“-Zeichen unter Windows unter den verschiedenen länderspezi-
fischen Tastaturlayouts benützen zu können, müssen Sie zu Beginn einma-
lig eine Tastenkombination auf dem LMP NexGen Keypad ausführen. Da-
nach wird das LMP NexGen Keypad die Einstellung gespeichert haben, und
Sie können so lange das „=“-Zeichen anzeigen lassen wie Sie mit der glei-
chen Ländereinstellung fortfahren. Sollten Sie eine neue Ländereinstellung
resp. eine andere Tastatur benutzen, so muss der Vorgang wiederum ein-
malig wiederholt werden.
4 Beispiel: Sie arbeiten mit einem deutschen Windows OS. Um das „=“-Zei-
chen korrekt anzuzeigen, müssen Sie einmalig die Tastenkombination „0“
&„delete “ drücken. Das LMP NexGen Keypad ist nun so eingestellt, dass
beim Drücken des „=“-Zeichens auch tatsächlich ein „=“ erscheint, sowohl
unter Mac als auch unter Windows.
