1. DownloadsoftwarefromLOFAwebsite
2. Removepanelfrommachineorataminimumdisconnectthe21pin
connectorfrombackofpaneltoconnecttool.
3. UpdateFirmwareinCPIOCircuitBoard
4. UpdateFirmwareinCP750Display
5. LoadConfigurationintopanel.(ConfigurationwillbeloadedontotheDisplay
andCPIOinoneoperation.)YouwouldneedtoopenanexistingConfig,make
aNewConfigwithtool,or,useaConfigsenttoyoubyLOFAorOEM.Config
filesarelocatedonyourcomputerinafolderwhichthetoolautomatically
savestoandpointsto:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\LOFAIndustries\Configuration
Itisbesttosaveconfigurationssenttoyouinthisfolderlocation.
6. Reinstallpanel
7. IfusedonaMechanicallyGovernedenginethetachometerwillneedtobe
recalibrated.

IMPORTANTNOTES:
1. Itisimportanttonotethatonlyoneapplicationatatimecanberunning
whichutilizestheCANplus®adapter.!!
2. IfthereareanyotherdevicesconnectedtotheCANbustheymustbe
disconnectedfromthepanelduringprogramming,I.E.Telemetrydevices,
Skimmodules,Etc.

1. GototheLOFAwebsitehttp://www.lofa.net
2. Click“ProductSupport”
3. Click“SoftwareDownloads”
4. Click“CANplusSuiteVersion3.15”,(orlatestversion),DriverVersion4.0”
willautomaticallybeloadedwiththis.
5. Thesewillbedownloadedontoyourcomputer.Thesystemwillchoosea
locationtodownloadtheprogramsonyourcomputer,ifyouwantthe
softwaresavedinadifferentdirectoryyouwillneedtotelltheinstallation
programwhereyouwouldlikethefilestobesavedto.ShortcutIconswill
alsobeplacedonyourdesktop.
6. ThereisalsoashortvideoavailableunderProductSupport/Videoswhich
showsthenecessarycablesandtheirproperconnectionlocations.Youmust
beabletoviewYouTubevideostowatchthesevideos.


1. Panelshouldhavebeenremovedfromthemachineoratleastthe21Pin
mainpanelconnectorremoved.
2. Removescrewsfromfaceplate.
3. ConnectLOFA21pinconnectorharness825‐1000‐00,010‐3500‐01power
supplyand632‐1939‐02CANplusadapter
4. ConnecttheLofaProgrammer(thesquareboxwithribboncable)totheIO
boardinthepanelandyourcomputer.BECERTAINTHATTHELEDONTHE
CIRCUITBOARDATTACHEDTORIBBONCABLEISTOTHELEFT,(OUTBOARD
SIDE).IFCIRCUITBOARDISINSTALLEDBACKWARDSTHEPANELWILLNOT
POWERUP.
5. Turnthekeyonthepaneltothe“RUN”position.VerifythattheLEDon
circuitboardconnectedtotheCPIOBoardatendofribboncableisONat
thistime.VerifythattheLEDsforPowerandRun/StopontheLOFA
ProgrammerareOFFatthistime.NOTE:If,atthispoint,theLEDsonboxare
illuminatedtheFirmwarewillnotbedownloaded.
6. ClickontheCANplus®Update3.15application,(orlatestversion)Iconon
yourcomputer.VerifythattheCANplus®AdapterSerialnumberappearsin
thelowerleftcornerofwindowanditisconnectedtopaneladapter.
7. Select“Product”andscrollto004‐00709/canplusIOboard(CPIO)V3.15,
(orlatestversion)andclicktoselect.
8. CPIOfirmwarecableshouldbemarkedonthescreenUnder“2:Select
UpdateMethod.”Click“Update”buttonunderitem3.ThePowerand
Run/StopLED’sshouldilluminatewhentheUpdatebuttonisclicked.NOTE:
Youmayreceiveamessagethattheadapterneedsupdating.Ifthisappears,
clickon“Yes”toupdate.Theadapterwillbeupdatedandtheprocesswill

LOFAProgrammerfromthecomputer.
ThisCompletestheFirmwareUpdateforCPIOboard.
Keepthe21pinconfigurationcableattachedtothePanelandthecomputersince
theDisplayrequiresaFirmwareupdatedalso.
FirmwareUpdate–Display

1. Pleasenotethatifdisplayistotallyblank,oritisintheBootloadermode,
youwillneedtoupdatedisplayusingtheserialcable.Thisprocedureis
explainedattheendofthisdocumentandthefollowingstepscanbe
ignored.
2. ThefollowingstepsexplainhowtoupdateusingtheCANplus®adapter
3. Turnthepanelkeytothe“RUN”position.Whenpanelispoweredbackup
theLEDsonthefaceplateofpanelshouldbeblinkingalternatelyinpairs:
theGreenandRedandthe2Amberinafashionsimilartoarailroad
crossingsignal.Therewillalsobeamessageonthedisplaywhichreads
“ProgramMemoryBadDevice”.Thisiscorrectandanindicationthatthe
firmwarefortheCPIOboardhasbeenloaded.
4. Ifnotalreadyopen,pleaseopentheCANplus®Updateapplication.

1. BeabsolutelycertainthattheUpdateApplicationhasbeenclosed.
2. Turnthekeytothe“Run”position.
3. YouwillstillhavetheErrormessageondisplayandtheLEDswillstillbe
blinkingalternately.
4. DoubleclickontheiconfortheCANplus®Configurationprogram.
5. TheGreenandAmberLEDshouldbeilluminatedontheCANplus®adapter
andyoushouldseetheserialnumberforitinthelowerlefthandcornerof
windowoftheapplication.
6. Clickon“Open”inthetoolbarattopofCANplus®Configurationprogram.
Thiswilldirectyoutofolderwhereyoustoredthesuppliedconfiguration
file.
7. Click“Write”inthetoolbar.Thescreenwillchangeandthereshouldbe
checkmarksfortheCPIOandtheCP750onleftsideofscreen.
8. Click“Write”againandthescreenwillchangeandadvisethatitiswriting
theconfiguration.Youwillseeaprogressbarduringthisprocess.The

YoumustalsoensurethatintheundertheConfigurationMenu,in
SettingsthatthegovernortypeissettoMech.
UpdatingDisplaySerially–MustbeinBootloaderMode
1. Youneedtodisconnectthe12positionDeutschconnectorfrombackof
display.
2. Connect825‐1000‐04“HarnessCfgCANplusDT12Srl.”
3. ConnecttheCANplus®adaptertothe3positionDeutschconnector.

portyoumustobtainaserialtoUSBadapter,(notincludedwithConfig
Suite).YouMUSTinstalldriverforthisadapterbeforeusing.Followthe
manufacturer’sinstructions.
5. Ifthedisplayistotallyblank(noopeningsplashscreen,nogaugesetc.)you
mustputthedisplayin“Bootloader”mode.
6. Toputdisplayin“Bootloader”modeensurepowerisappliedandpressand
holdbuttons1and2fromtheleftonthedisplayuntilthe“Bootloader”
screenisshown.Releasebuttonsthetwobuttons.NOTE:The2position
connector,withtheRedandBlackwiressuppliespowerdirectlytodisplay
whenconnected.



