Thevideo-interface convertstheconnectedafter-marketsources videosignals intoa digital
RGB signal whichis insertedinthefactory monitorusingseparatetriggeroptions.
Furthermore, it reads vehicle’s digital signals out of the vehicle’s CAN-bus system and
convertsthem forthevideointerface.

1.4.1. Activatingthefrontcamera(dip1)
If settoON,theinterfaceswitches for10secondsfromtherear-viewcameratothefront
camera inputafterhavingdisengagedthereversegear. Inaddition,amanual switch-overto
thefrontcamerainputispossiblevia keypad (shortpress)from any imagemode.
Description of the power supply output: see chapter “Power supply output”.
1.4.2. Enabling the interface’s video inputs (dip 2-3)
Onlytheenabledvideoinputscanbeaccessedwhenswitchingthroughtheinterface’s video
sources.It`s recommendedtoenable onlytherequiredinputs, forthedisabledwillbe
skippedwhenswitchingthroughthevideointerfaces inputs.
1.4.3. Rear-viewcamerasetting(dip5)
If settoOFF, theinterfaceswitches tofactory LVDS picturewhilethereverse gearisengaged
todisplay a factory rear-viewcameraor a factoryoptical parksystem picture.
If settoON,theinterfaceswitches toitsrear-viewcamerainput“Camera-IN” while the
reverse gearis engaged.
Note: Dips 4and 6 areout offunction andhave tobesettoOFF.
1.4.4. Monitorselection(dips 7-8)
Dips 6-8 areformonitor-specificvideosettings whichcannotbepredictedas evenwithinthe
samehead-unitversion,themonitorspecificationsmay vary. Itisnecessary totry all
possiblecombinations - whileaworkingvideosource is connectedtothechoseninputof the
interface - toseewhichcombinationgives thebestpicturequalityandsize(somemay give
nopicture).Itis possible tofirsthotplugthroughthedipcombinations,butifyoudonot
experienceanychangeofpictureaftertryingall options, retry anddisconnectedthe10pin
powerplugofthevideo-box betweenevery change of thedipsetting.

2. Installation
Switchofftheignitionand disconnectthevehicle’s battery! The interface needs a
permanent12Vsource. If-accordingtofactoryrules- adisconnectionofthebatteryhasto
be avoided, it should be sufficient to use the vehicle’s sleep-mode.Incase,thesleep-mode
doesn’t succeed, the battery hastobedisconnectedwitharesistorlead.
The Interface needs a permanent power supply! If power isn’t directly taken from the
battery, the connection’s power has to be checked for being start-upprovenand
permanent.
Beforethefinal installation,werecommend atest-run oftheinterface. Duetochangesin
the production of the vehicle manufacturer, there’s always the possibility of
incompatibility.

Disconnect thebluefemale4pinHSD connectorat therear-side of thefactory head
unitandconnectittothe purplecolouredmale4pinHSDLVDSconnectorofthe
picturesignal cable.
Connectfemale4pinconnectorof the picturesignal cabletothepreviouslybecome
free male4pinHSDLVDSconnectorof head unit.
Note:Ifthe factory HSDpicturesignal cableof thevehicleharness is tooshortforthe
installation,anHSDextension cable canbeorderedseparately withitem numberCAB-HSD-

Itis possibletoconnectanafter-market rear-viewcamera,anafter-marketfrontcamera and
twomoreAVsourcestothevideo-interface.
Beforeafinalinstallationofthevideosources,werecommend atest-runtoensurethe
compatibility ofvehicleand interface. Duetochangesintheproductionofthevehicle
manufacturer there’s always a possibility ofincompatibility.
Connect the 12pin interface cable’s female 12pin connector to the male 12pin connector of
thevideo-interface.
ConnectthevideoRCAoftheRear-view camera to the 12pin interface cable’s female
RCAconnector„Reverse V4.
Connect the front camera’s video RCA connector to the 12pin interface cable’s female
RCAconnector„Front V3“.
ConnectthevideoRCAofany otherAV sources tothefemaleRCR connectors “Left (V1)”
and”Right (V2)”.

2.6.1. Audio-insertion
This interface isonlyabletoinsertvideosignals intothefactoryinfotainment. IfanAV-
source is connected,theaudioinsertionhas tobedoneby the factory audioAUX input or an
FM-modulator.Theinsertedvideo-signalcanbeactivatedsimultaneouslytoeachaudio-
modeof thefactoryinfotainment. If 2AVsourcesshall beconnectedtotheinfotainment,
additionalelectronicis necessary toswitchtheaudio signals.
2.6.2. After-marketfrontcamera
TheredpowersupplyoutputACC/frontcamout 12V(max3A) canbeusedtopower
a frontcamera. IfDip1issettoON (oftheblack8dips),thepowersupplyoutput
gives +12V(max3A) whenreversegearis engagedplus 10seconds delay after
reverse gearis disengaged.
Note: Inaddition,amanual switch-overtothefrontcamera input is possible viakeypad
(shortpress)fromany imagemode. Thepowersupplyoutputgives+12Vthen,too(if Dip1is
settoONandthefront camera inputisselected).

2.6.3. After-marketrear-viewcamera
Some vehicles haveadifferentreverse gearcode ontheCAN-buswhichthevideo-interface
is notcompatible with. Inthis case therearetwodifferentwaysof installation.If thevideo-
interface is able to detect an enabled vehicle’s reverse gear, the greenwireof the6pinto
12pincableshouldcarry +12Vwhile thereversegearis engaged.
Note:Do not forget to set video interface’s dip5 to ON before testing.
2.6.3.1. Case 1:Interface receivesthereverse gearsignal
If theinterfacedelivers +12Vonthegreenoutput wireof the 12pininterfacecable while
reverse gearis engaged,thevideointerface will automatically switchtotherear-view
camera input“Camera IN” whilethereverse gearis engaged.
Additionally, the+12V(max. 3A) powersupplyfor therear-viewcameracanbetaken
fromthegreenwireof the 12pininterface cable.

2.6.3.2. Case 2: CAN-boxdoes notreceivethereverse gearsignal
If thevideointerfacedoes not deliver+12Vonthegreenwire ofthe 12pincablewhen
reverse gearis engaged(not all vehicles arecompatible),anexternal switchingsignal from
the reverse gear light is required. As the reverse gear light’s power supply isn’t voltage-
stabileall thetime, anordinary openrelay (e.g AC-RW-1230withwiringAC-RS5) orfilter
(e.g. AC-PNF-RVC)is required.Thediagram belowshowstheconnectiontypeoftherelay.
Disconnect the green cable’s preconnected male- andfemaleconnectors ofthe12pin
cable andconnectthegreeninputcable“Reverse-IN” totheoutputconnector (87)
oftherelay.
Note: Lastbutnotlot least toavoidshortcircuits,thebestsolutionshouldbe, to
crimp a male 4mm connector to the relay’s output cable and connect ittothegreen
cable’s female 4mm connector. The output-cable“Reverse-OUT” remains
disconnected as it’s out of function.
Connect the Reverse light’s power-cable to coil (85) and the vehicle’s ground to coil
(86) oftherelay.
Connecttheoutputconnector (87) of therelay totherear-view camera’s power-
cable, likeyoudidittothegreen“Reverse-IN” cable before.
Connectstabile andpermanent +12V to the relay’s input connector (30).

Thepicturesettings areadjustablebythe3push-buttonsonthevideo-interface. Press the
MENUbuttontoopentheOSD settings menuortoswitchtothenext menuitem. Press UP
andDOWNtochangetheselectedvalue. Thebuttonsareplacedinsideinthehousingto
avoidaccidentalchangesduringor aftertheinstallation.Picturesettings mustbedone
separatelyforVideo1, Video2and rear-viewcamera whilethecorrespondinginputis
selectedandvisibleonthemonitor.
Note:TheOSDmenuis onlyshownwhenaworkingvideosource is connectedtothe
selectedvideo-inputoftheinterface.

•„Navi“ or „Menu“ button
A long pressof theNAVIbuttonortheMenu buttonswitchestheinputfromfactory mode
totheinsertedvideosources.
•„Back/Return“ button at thecontroller(e.g.GLE)
Onsomevehicle types(e.g.GLE) thelongpressof the "Back/Return"buttononthe
controllerswitches thevideosources.
Inputswhicharenotenabledbydipswitchsettings are skipped.
Switchoverbyvehiclebuttons isn’t possible in all vehicles. In some vehicles the external
keypadmust beused.
Note: Thewhitewireofthe6pincablecanbeusedwitha+5-12Vpulsetoswitchthevideo-
sources alternatively.
