 • Topreventtheriskofreorelectricshock,installinatemperatureandhumiditycontrolledindoorareafree
ofconducvecontaminants.(Seethespecicaonsfortheacceptabletemperatureandhumidityrange.)
 • ToreducetheriskofoverheangtheUPS,donotcovertheUPS’coolingventsandavoidexposingtheunit
todirectsunlightorinstallingtheunitnearheatemingappliancessuchasspaceheatersorfurnaces.
 • Donotaachnon-computer-relateditems,suchasmedicalequipment,life-supportequipment,microwave
ovens,orvacuumcleanerstoUPS.
• Do not plug the UPS input into its own output.
 • DonotallowliquidsoranyforeignobjecttoentertheUPS.Donotplacebeveragesoranyotherliquid-
containing vessels on or near the unit.
 • Intheeventofanemergency,presstheOFFbuonanddisconnectthepowercordfromtheACpower
Transportaon
 • PleasetransporttheUPSsystemonlyintheoriginalpackagetoprotectagainstshockandimpact.
Preparaon
 • Condensaon may occur if the UPS system is moved directly from cold to warm environment. The UPS
systemmustbeabsolutelydrybeforebeinginstalled.PleaseallowatleasttwohoursfortheUPSsystemto
acclimatetheenvironment.
 • DonotinstalltheUPSsystemnearwaterorinmoistenvironments.
 • DonotinstalltheUPSsystemwhereitwouldbeexposedtodirectsunlightornearheater.
 • DonotblockvenlaonholesintheUPShousing.
Installaon
Howtodeterminethepowerrequirementsofyourequipment
 1.Ensurethattheequipmentpluggedintothebaerypower-suppliedoutletsdoesnotexceedtheUPSunit’s
ratedcapacity.Ifratedunitcapaciesareexceeded,anoverloadcondionmayoccurandcausetheUPS
unittoshutdownorthefuseblow.
 2.Therearemanyfactorsthatcanaecttheamountofpowerthatyourcomputersystemwillrequire.For
opmalsystemperformancekeeptheloadbelow80%oftheunit’sratedcapacity.

 1.YournewUPSmaybeusedimmediatelyuponreceipt.However,rechargingthebaeryforatleast8hours
isrecommendedtoensurethatthebaery’smaximumchargecapacityisachieved.Chargelossmayoccur
duringshippingandstorage.Torechargethebaery,simplyleavetheunitpluggedintoanACoutlet.The
unitwillchargeinboththeonandoposion.
 2.With theUPS unito andunplugged,connectthe computer,monitor, andanyexternallypowereddata
storage device.
 3.PlugtheUPSintoa2pole,3wiregroundedreceptacle(walloutlet).Makesurethewallbranchoutletis
protectedbyafuseorcircuitbreakeranddoesnotserviceequipmentwithlargeelectricaldemands.

 4.Depressthepowerswitchtoturntheuniton.TheLCDindicatorlightwillilluminateandtheunitwill“beep”.
 5.Tomaintainopmalbaerycharge,leavetheUPSpluggedintoanACoutletatallmes.
 6.TostoreyourUPSforanextendedperiod,coveritandstorewiththebaeryfullycharged.Rechargethe
baeryeverythreemonthstoensurebaerylife.
Maintenance, Service, and Faults
• TheUPSsystemoperateswithhazardousvoltages.Repairsmaybecarriedoutonlybyqualiedmaintenance
personnel.
• Cauon-riskofelectricshock.Evenaertheunitisdisconnectedfromthemains(buildingwiringoutlet),
componentsinsidetheUPSsystemaresllconnectedtothebaeryandelectricallyliveanddangerous.
• Beforecarryingoutanykindofserviceand/ormaintenance,disconnectthebaeriesandverifythatno
currentispresentandnohazardousvoltageexistsintheterminalsofhighcapabilitycapacitorsuchas
BUS-capacitors.
• Toavoidelectricalshock,turnotheunitandunplugitfromtheACpowersourcebeforeservicingthe
baery.
• Onlypersonswhoareadequatelyfamiliarwithbaeriesandwiththerequiredprecauonarymeasures
mayreplacebaeriesandsuperviseoperaons.Unauthorizedpersonsmustbekeptwellawayfromthe
baeries.
• Cauon -riskofelectricshock.Thebaerycircuitisnotisolatedfromtheinputvoltage.Hazardousvoltages
mayoccurbetweenthebaeryterminalsandtheground.Beforetouching,pleaseverifythatnovoltage
is present!
• Baeriesmaycauseelectricshockandhaveahighshort-circuitcurrent.Pleasetaketheprecauonary
measuresspeciedbelowandanyothermeasuresnecessarywhenworkingwithbaeries:
»Removewristwatches,ringsandothermetalobjects
»Useonlytoolswithinsulatedgripsandhandles.
• Whenchangingbaeries,installthesamenumberandsametypeofbaeries.
• Donotaempttodisposeofbaeriesbyburningthem.Thiscouldcausebaeryexplosion.
• Donotopenordestroybaeries.Escapingelectrolytecancauseinjurytotheskinandeyes.Itmaybe
toxic.
• Whenreplacingbaeries,replacewiththesametypeandnumberofbaeriesorbaerypacks.
• DonotdismantletheUPSsystem.
• Abaerycanpresentariskofelectricalshockandhighshort-circuitcurrent.Thefollowingprecauons
shouldbeobservedwhenworkingonbaeries:
»Removewatches,rings,orothermetalobjects.
»Use tools with insulated handles.
»Wearrubberglovesandboots.
»Donotlaytoolsormetalpartsontopofbaeries.
»Disconnectchargingsourcepriortoconnecngordisconnecngbaeryterminals.
»Determineifbaeryisinadvertentlygrounded.Ifinadvertentlygrounded,removesourcefrom
ground.Contactwithanypartofagroundedbaerycanresultinelectricalshock.Thelikelihood
ofsuchshockcanbereducedifsuchgroundsareremovedduringinstallaonandmaintenance.
Storage
 1.FirstturnoyourUPSanddisconnectitspowercordfromthewalloutlet.Disconnectallcablesconnected
totheUPStoavoidbaerydrain.
 2.TheUPSshouldbestoredinacooldrylocaon.
 3.MakesurethebaeryisfullychargedbeforetheUPSisstored.
4. Forextendedstorageinmoderateclimates,thebaeryshouldbechargedfor12hoursevery3monthsby
pluggingthepowercordintothewallreceptacleandturningonthemainswitch.Repeatitevery2months
inhightemperaturelocaons.

Front and Rear Panel Descripon
1. Input Circuit Breaker
 Thecircuitbreakerprovidesopmaloverloadprotecon.
2. AC Inlet
 Connecttoulitypowerthroughtheinputpowercord.
 (IEC320C14for700/1000/1500,IEC320C20for2000)
3. AC outlet
 The UPS provides outlets for connected equipment to insure temporary uninterrupted operaon during a
powerfailureandagainstsurgesandspikes.
4. RJ45/11 Communicaon Protecon Ports
 Communicaonproteconportswillprotectanystandardmodem,fax,telephoneline,ornetworkcable.
5. SNMP Network Port
 TheSNMPportprovidesremotemonitoringandmanagementofyourUPSoveranetwork.
6. EPO Port
 EnableanemergencyUPSPower-Ofromaremotelocaon.EPOterminalopen,theUPSwillturnoandthe
outputshutdownimmediately.
7. USB Port
 ThisportallowsconneconandcommunicaonfromtheUSBportonthecomputertotheUPSunit.
8. Serial Port
 ThisportallowsconneconandcommunicaonfromtheDB9serialonthecomputertotheUPSunit.TheUPS
communicatesitsstatustothesoware.
9. Power On/O Buon
 PressthepowerBuontoturntheUPSONorOFF,andcanalsoconrmtheseleconinsengmode.
10. Mute Buon
 Itcanbeenter/exitthesengmodebypressingthisbuonfor5seconds,canshowpageippingbypressing
thisbuonfor1second,andcanalsoturno/onbypressingthisbuon2mes.
11. LCD Display
 TheLCDwilldisplaytheUPSstatus.
