ovens,orvacuumcleanerstoUPS.
• Do not plug the UPS input into its own output.
• DonotallowliquidsoranyforeignobjecttoentertheUPS.Donotplacebeveragesoranyotherliquid-
containing vessels on or near the unit.
• Intheeventofanemergency,presstheOFFbuonanddisconnectthepowercordfromtheACpower
Transportaon
• PleasetransporttheUPSsystemonlyintheoriginalpackagetoprotectagainstshockandimpact.
Preparaon
• Condensaon may occur if the UPS system is moved directly from cold to warm environment. The UPS
systemmustbeabsolutelydrybeforebeinginstalled.PleaseallowatleasttwohoursfortheUPSsystemto
acclimatetheenvironment.
• DonotinstalltheUPSsystemnearwaterorinmoistenvironments.
• DonotinstalltheUPSsystemwhereitwouldbeexposedtodirectsunlightornearheater.
• DonotblockvenlaonholesintheUPShousing.
Installaon
Howtodeterminethepowerrequirementsofyourequipment
1.Ensurethattheequipmentpluggedintothebaerypower-suppliedoutletsdoesnotexceedtheUPSunit’s
ratedcapacity.Ifratedunitcapaciesareexceeded,anoverloadcondionmayoccurandcausetheUPS
unittoshutdownorthefuseblow.
2.Therearemanyfactorsthatcanaecttheamountofpowerthatyourcomputersystemwillrequire.For
opmalsystemperformancekeeptheloadbelow80%oftheunit’sratedcapacity.
Hardware Installaon Guide
1.YournewUPSmaybeusedimmediatelyuponreceipt.However,rechargingthebaeryforatleast8hours
isrecommendedtoensurethatthebaery’smaximumchargecapacityisachieved.Chargelossmayoccur
duringshippingandstorage.Torechargethebaery,simplyleavetheunitpluggedintoanACoutlet.The
unitwillchargeinboththeonandoposion.
2.With theUPS unito andunplugged,connectthe computer,monitor, andanyexternallypowereddata
storage device.
3.PlugtheUPSintoa2pole,3wiregroundedreceptacle(walloutlet).Makesurethewallbranchoutletis
protectedbyafuseorcircuitbreakeranddoesnotserviceequipmentwithlargeelectricaldemands.

4.Depressthepowerswitchtoturntheuniton.TheLCDindicatorlightwillilluminateandtheunitwill“beep”.
5.Tomaintainopmalbaerycharge,leavetheUPSpluggedintoanACoutletatallmes.
6.TostoreyourUPSforanextendedperiod,coveritandstorewiththebaeryfullycharged.Rechargethe
baeryeverythreemonthstoensurebaerylife.
Maintenance, Service, and Faults
• TheUPSsystemoperateswithhazardousvoltages.Repairsmaybecarriedoutonlybyqualiedmaintenance
personnel.
• Cauon-riskofelectricshock.Evenaertheunitisdisconnectedfromthemains(buildingwiringoutlet),
componentsinsidetheUPSsystemaresllconnectedtothebaeryandelectricallyliveanddangerous.
• Beforecarryingoutanykindofserviceand/ormaintenance,disconnectthebaeriesandverifythatno
currentispresentandnohazardousvoltageexistsintheterminalsofhighcapabilitycapacitorsuchas
BUS-capacitors.
• Toavoidelectricalshock,turnotheunitandunplugitfromtheACpowersourcebeforeservicingthe
baery.
• Onlypersonswhoareadequatelyfamiliarwithbaeriesandwiththerequiredprecauonarymeasures
mayreplacebaeriesandsuperviseoperaons.Unauthorizedpersonsmustbekeptwellawayfromthe
baeries.
• Cauon -riskofelectricshock.Thebaerycircuitisnotisolatedfromtheinputvoltage.Hazardousvoltages
mayoccurbetweenthebaeryterminalsandtheground.Beforetouching,pleaseverifythatnovoltage
is present!
• Baeriesmaycauseelectricshockandhaveahighshort-circuitcurrent.Pleasetaketheprecauonary
measuresspeciedbelowandanyothermeasuresnecessarywhenworkingwithbaeries:
»Removewristwatches,ringsandothermetalobjects
»Useonlytoolswithinsulatedgripsandhandles.
• Whenchangingbaeries,installthesamenumberandsametypeofbaeries.
• Donotaempttodisposeofbaeriesbyburningthem.Thiscouldcausebaeryexplosion.
• Donotopenordestroybaeries.Escapingelectrolytecancauseinjurytotheskinandeyes.Itmaybe
toxic.
• Whenreplacingbaeries,replacewiththesametypeandnumberofbaeriesorbaerypacks.
• DonotdismantletheUPSsystem.
• Abaerycanpresentariskofelectricalshockandhighshort-circuitcurrent.Thefollowingprecauons
shouldbeobservedwhenworkingonbaeries:

»Use tools with insulated handles.
»Wearrubberglovesandboots.
»Donotlaytoolsormetalpartsontopofbaeries.
»Disconnectchargingsourcepriortoconnecngordisconnecngbaeryterminals.

ground.Contactwithanypartofagroundedbaerycanresultinelectricalshock.Thelikelihood
ofsuchshockcanbereducedifsuchgroundsareremovedduringinstallaonandmaintenance.
Storage
1.FirstturnoyourUPSanddisconnectitspowercordfromthewalloutlet.Disconnectallcablesconnected
totheUPStoavoidbaerydrain.
2.TheUPSshouldbestoredinacooldrylocaon.
3.MakesurethebaeryisfullychargedbeforetheUPSisstored.
4. Forextendedstorageinmoderateclimates,thebaeryshouldbechargedfor12hoursevery3monthsby
pluggingthepowercordintothewallreceptacleandturningonthemainswitch.Repeatitevery2months
inhightemperaturelocaons.

5. SNMP Network Port
TheSNMPportprovidesremotemonitoringandmanagementofyourUPSoveranetwork.
6. EPO Port
EnableanemergencyUPSPower-Ofromaremotelocaon.EPOterminalopen,theUPSwillturnoandthe
outputshutdownimmediately.
7. USB Port
ThisportallowsconneconandcommunicaonfromtheUSBportonthecomputertotheUPSunit.
8. Serial Port
ThisportallowsconneconandcommunicaonfromtheDB9serialonthecomputertotheUPSunit.TheUPS

LowellManufacturingCompanywarrantsLowellUPS equipment,whenproperlyapplied and operatedwithin
speciedcondions,againstfaultymaterialsorworkmanshipforaperiodofthree years for UPSV and UPSVLI
Series productsfromthe dateofpurchase.Lowell ManufacturingCompanywarrantsinternal baeries for a
period of three years from the date of purchase. For equipment sites within the United States and Canada,
this warranty covers repair or replacement, at the sole discreon of Lowell Manufacturing Company. The
customerisresponsibleforthecostsofshippingthedefecveproducttoLowellManufacturingCompany.Lowell
ManufacturingCompanywillpayforgroundshipmentoftherepairedorreplacementproduct.Thiswarranty
appliesonlytotheoriginalpurchaser.
If equipment provided by Lowell Manufacturing Company is found to be Dead-on-Arrival (DOA), Lowell
ManufacturingCompanywillberesponsibleforthecostsofshippingproducttoandreturningequipmentfrom
thecustomerinamelymannerasagreedtowiththecustomer,oncethecustomerhasrequestedandreceived
a Return Material Authorizaon (RMA)number.DOAequipmentisdenedasequipmentthatdoesnotproperly
funcon according to user documentaon when inially received and connected in conjuncon with proper
procedures as shown in the user documentaon or via support provided by Lowell Manufacturing Company
personnelorauthorizedagents.
Thiswarrantyshallbevoidif(a)theequipmentisrepairedormodiedbyanyoneotherthanLowellManufacturing
Company or a Lowell Manufacturing Company approved third party; (b) the equipment is damaged by the
customer,isimproperlyusedorstored,issubjectedtoanadverseoperangenvironment,orisoperatedoutside
thelimitsofitselectricalspecicaons;or(c)theequipmenthasbeenusedorstoredinamannercontraryto
