Measurement disp ay
Heat Shield shows measurements and indexes from its sensors and, when
connected, from satellite units.
moves to different group of measurements/indexes.
*The proper way to select a combination of buttons is to keep pressure over the first “Ctrl”
button, than push&release the second one, then release the first one.
During first switch-on Heat
Shield asks to select the program
language.
Select the language using and
confirm using .
t is possible to switch-off Heat
Shield only from measurement list.
Change day/time
Move the cursor ^^ below the date to change using , change the date
and/or time using . Press to confirm. Press to exit.
and to scroll the group to the next/previous one. and scroll
vertically each group.
HOW TO USE HEAT SHIELD BASE
Switch on/off
Press togheter + *.
After few seconds Heat Shield shows its
PN, version and
serial number.
Then it shows day/time. f day/time is
correct select

Status bar
t contains some Heat Shield working information:
Browsing
Push to go on the Main menu.
Use to scroll each information, and to enter; to return to previous
selection, it goes to Measurements when pushed from Main menu.
Change parameters
Depending by the situation it is possible to change the parameters from a
selectable list (example: language) or using the arrows (example: day/time).
Data storing
Go to measurements screen and press
+ . Press + to stop data

First switch-on the base unit and later the satellite units.
Check measurements from base unit and satellite units.
Attention: radiant temperature sensor would need 20 minutes to acclimatize.
Survey setup
Go to Survey setup.
Survey start / stop
Each survey starts and stops using the programmed mode. f starting mode is
manually, push + to start. Push + to stop survey, this stops survey
anyway even if automatic stop mode is programmed.

t is possible to change some factory setup parameters.

Nr survey. Heat Shield assign one number to each survey. t is possible to
change (1 J.99) the assigned number during measurement.
Mode: Heat Shield can performs measurement from the base unit only
(WBGT1 amb), from base unit plus one satellite (WBGT 2 amb), from base
units plus two satellite units (WBGT 3 amb). Or perform one measurement
which show average value of the measurement coming from base unit and
two satellite unit (WBGT subject) as in the SO7243-1 989 requirements.
Anemometer: select “not used” or select type: Hot wire or Cups anemometer
Units: select Celsius or Fahrenheit
Survey Start/stop mode: select the way to start survey (manually/ selected
day-time) and stop survey (manually/selected day-time/ after a period time).
During survey all measurements are stored.

HS Manager is a PC program used to download the stored data and perform data
analysis.
Insta ation
Run Setup and follow its instructions.
During the first run, the program asks to install a new Heat Shield unit.
To recognize the PC port where
the USB adapter is connected. Go
to (Windows) Control Panel-
Device
Manager-
Universal
Serial bus
controller
and look for the COM number of
the USB serial port.
Data down oad
While Heat Shield is connected to PC:
- Select "Communications" from nstrument list.
- Select the instrument serial number and press .
- Select the data limits and select “Download”.
- When finish select “Close”.
Data disp ay
- From the browser, expand “Database”,
select instrument serial number.
- Left key on the mouse to select “Show Data”
- Select data limits and press .
HS MANAGER
Connect Heat Shield base unit to PC
using it cable and USB adapter.
Go to “Communication” and select the
PC port where the USB adapter is
connected.
Select “Go” until the instrument is
found. Select “end” to terminate this
procedure.

Before to start, install the USB
