1) General Description
MAG BR500 series intelli barriers utilize innovative technology design and manufactured with precision
machinery to guarantee satisfaction in quality and reliability for years to come.
MAG intelligent barrier has been lab tested for more than 2.5 millions opening / closing and still without
any degrade in performance – superb mechanical life time for heavy duty application. It composed
primarily of an electronic panel that controls the mechanical unit to lift or release the barrier arm.

3) Features
i.
Intelligent.
No limit switch – smart processor auto- detects open and close position for higher
accuracy. Combination of unique lever design and smart motor control allow swift arm
movement that reduces bouncing at end position.
ii.
Optimal speed.
Able to fully lift up a 3 meter arm in between 1 to 6 sec depends on the models.
This allows smoother and more efficient traffic flow.
iii.
Heavy Duty.
AC based motor is stronger and maintenance free (no need to change carbon).
Compressed counter balance spring avoid possibility of spring over-stressed and break due to
high volume continuous open/lose cycle.
iv.
Safe.
Arm will auto-reverse when hitting an obstacle during closing. BR510’s arm will auto-fall
out if hit by vehicle to avoid damaging vehicle as well as the arm. Additional photo beam and
traffic light (red & green) can be added to further enhanced safety. Built-in MSB to protect
against any electric hazard.
v.
Durable.
Housing full weld for rigid support. Thickness of metal.
vi.
Secure.
Arm is self-locked in any position to avoid unauthorized person to manually open/close
arm. All internal parts inside housing is protected by cam lock to avoid tampering.
vii.
User Friendly.
Clutch can be conveniently released without opening casing. Arm can be easily
lifted or closed by hand after clutch is released. More intuitive control – 3 separate input for arm
up, stop and down.
viii.
Easy maintenance.
Damaged barrier arm can be replaced easily. Epoxy powder paint will
keep the unit looking clean and new for years

8) How to manual release arm by releasing clutch?
Arm can be move manually after unlocking the clutch.
This is useful during power failure where user can
manually lift the arm allowing traffic to pass through.
During power failure :
Step 1 : Turn key anti-clockwise to unlock the clutch
Step 2 : Lift arm vertical 90°
Step 3 : Turn key clockwise to lock the clutch
After power resume :
While arm still lift up
Step 1 : Press push button “UP” button one time
Step 2 : Press push button “DOWN” button.
Barrier arm will resume back to normal operation.

b) Calibrating counter-weight springs tension
Tension of counter weight spring needs to be calibrated according to arm length and weight to
achieve minimum burden on the motor. This will ensure maximum life time o the motor.
Step 1 :
Turn the key clockwise to unlock the clutch.
Step 2 :
Move arm up to 45° and release
•If the spring tension is in balance, arm
will stay at 45°. No further calibration is
required. Move arm back to horizontal
position and lock the clutch.
•If the counter-weight spring is NOT
balanced, arm will either move up or
down from 45°. In this case, the counter-
weight spring needs to be calibrated.
If arm move up more than 45°, then the sprin
g
tension
is too tight and needs to be
loosen.
•Turn spring pin
clockwise few times (3
to 4 times) to loosen
the spring until the arm
will stay at 45°
If arm drop below than 45°, then the spring tension is
too loose and need to be
tighten
•Turn spring pin anti
clockwise few times (3
to 4 times) to tighten
the spring until the arm
will stay at 45°
If arm still fail to stay on 45°
Verify if the correct type of spring is installed at the
correct link hole. See spring selection.
c) Spring Replacement
Step 1 : Unlock the clutch
Step 2 : Move arm vertical 90° and release.
Step 3 : Turn the spring pin clockwise to loosen the spring until the spring fell out.
Step 4 : Replace with a new spring.
Step 5 : Turn the spring pin anti clockwise to tighten the spring.
Step 6 : Recalibrate the spring tension.
Step 7 : Lock back the clutch upon finish calibration work.

2) If arm below the horizontal line, turn drive crank anti-
clockwise to adjust the arm higher.
Step 3 :
Turn the screw back to hold the newly adjusted drive
crank position.

13) Trouble Shooting Guide
a) What if the arm fails to move?
i. Please check and ensure the clutch is lock.
ii. If your arm length is shorter than the standard arm, you need to adjust the balance spring.
iii. Please check the motor sensor connector whether it has insert properly in the circuit board.
iv. The sensor is damage. Please exchange it with the same model.
b) What if the arm does not lift up smoothly and it vibrate?
Please adjust the spring either you tighten it or loosen it until the arm is able to lifted up smoothly.
c) What is the arm does not move after changing the circuit board?
Please check on the circuit board “Bar Type Select” switch is at the correct position.
d) What if the arm does not move down after the vehicle had drive through the loop coil?
There shall be a beep sound if barrier gate control panel receive correct signal from loop detector. If
there is no sound after vehicle pass through loop coil on the floor, please check the following:
i. Check the loop detector connection to the barrier gate control panel.
ii. Check the loop detector LED. LED should have indication when detect vehicle.
a. Check the loop wire whether loose / leakage. If loop wore is loose / leakage, rewind
the wiring and tighten it.
b. Check the loop wire whether is twisted at the connection of the loop detector. If wire
is not twisted, kindly twisted the wire when wire going back to loop detector.
c. Check the loop detector. It might be malfunction and sometimes it might cause the
system hang. Replace with a new loop detector
iii. Confirm access reader relay time is set to only 1 second.
e) What if the arm does not lift up after flashing the proximity card at the card reader?
i. Test with push button whether the barrier arm lift up or not.
a. If barrier arm does not lift up, it means the control panel of the barrier gate
malfunction.
b. If barrier arm lifted arm, It means that the card reader malfunction or improper
wiring. Please re-check the wiring connection.
ii. Invalid access card.
