Operating Instructions
Powering on Your Film Scanner
1. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the lm scanner.
2. Connect the other end of the USB cable into a USB wall adapter (not included) or
USB power source (5V 1A).
3. Press and hold the Power button on the scanner to turn it on.
Note: The lm scanner will automatically shut o after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Date and Time Setting
1. On the Main Menu, go to DATE AND TIME and press OK.
2. Use the < and > buttons to select the correct year.
3. Use the OK button to move to the next setting. The order of the settings is Year/
Month/Day/Hour/Minutes/Seconds.
Note: Hour is displayed as a 24 clock. Selecting 12 and above would set the Hour to PM.
Selecting Scan Resolution
1. On the Main Menu, go to RESOLUTION and press OK.
2. Use the < and > buttons to select 13MP or 25MP and press OK to conrm.
Changing the Language
1. Press the Settings button to open the Main Menu and use the < and > buttons to
select the LANGUAGE option.
2. Press OK to open the language menu.
3. Use the < and > buttons to scroll between the available selections.
4. Press OK to select the language.

Prepping Your Film/Slides
1. Open the appropriate slide/lm adapter and insert your slide/lm. Each adapter is
labelled to identify it. If you are not certain of your slide/lm type, refer to the Slide
Type and Film Type images below.
2. Ensure the slide/lm is facing the correct way and is not bent.
3. Close the slide or lm adapter and press the edges so that it locks into place.
IMPORTANT: The quality of the original slide/lm will impact the quality of the scanned image.

Preparing the Film Scanner
1. Press and hold the Power button on the scanner to turn it on.
2. Insert the prepared lm or slide adapter into the slot on the right side of the lm
scanner.
3. In the Main Menu use the arrow keys to highlight the FILM TYPE option and press
the OK button to select it.
4. Use the > arrow key to cycle through Negatives, Slides, or B&W. Press the OK
button to select it.
5. The next screen will show the dierent types of your selection. Use the > arrow key
to select the correct type and press the OK button.
Cleaning and Care
Use the included cleaning brush to
ensure there is no dust or debris on
the lens. Insert the soft end of the
brush, face down, into the lm/slide
holder slot. Carefully push the brush
around inside to get rid of any dust or
debris that may be on the lens.
Using an SD Card
Note: This scanner has 64MB of built-in memory for saving scanned images. This lm scanner will also
accept SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards with a maximum of 128GB for extra memory. If you are using a 128GB
SD card, it may need to be formatted before using for the rst time. Please see below for formatting
instructions.
1. Insert the SD card, label up, into the SD card slot located at the back of the lm
scanner. The SD card will click in if inserted properly.
2. Remove the SD card by pressing on it until it clicks and pops out, then remove it
from the slot.

Formatting Your SD Card
WARNING: Formatting your SD card will delete all les stored on the SD card.
Download your les from your SD card to your computer before formatting.
1. In the Main Menu, go to FORMAT SD. Press the OK button.
2. When prompted if you would like to format the SD, use the < button to select“Yes”.
Press the OK button to begin formatting the SD card.
Scanning Your Images
1. Press the Scan button to enter Capture mode.
2. You should now see your lm or slide image on the screen and the corresponding
lm/slide type is listed at the top right corner.
Note: Image on screen does not reect scanned image quality.
3. To adjust Brightness or Color, press the OK button. Use the left/right arrows to
move between Brightness (EV), Red (R), Green (G), or Blue (B). Press the OK button
to adjust them individually.
4. Once all settings are correct, press the SCAN button to return.
5. You can also ip or mirror your image before scanning by pressing the < or >
buttons.
6. Once ready, press the SCAN button to capture and save your image to the internal
memory or SD card if one is inserted. The FS70 cannot scan directly to a computer.
7. If you have multiple slides/negatives you can push/pull them through the adapter
without removing it. See image below for reference.

Note: When inserting lm/negative strips use caution to ensure they are not bent or damaged.

Viewing Your Scanned Images
1. To view your saved images, press the GALLERY button.
2. Your images will play automatically in Slideshow mode.
3. To manually review your saved images and stop Slideshow mode, press the OK
button.
4. Use the left and right buttons to scroll through each saved image.
5. Press the OK button again to open the Gallery options. You can choose to either go
back to Slideshow mode, delete the image, or return to the Main Menu.
Watching Saved Images from a TV Screen
1. Turn on the lm scanner.
2. Connect an HDMI cable (not included) to the HDMI port on the back of the lm
scanner.
3. Connect the other end of the cable into an HDMI input on your TV.
Note: When you connect the lm scanner to your TV, the scanner’s LCD screen will turn o
automatically.
4. Ensure that your TV is set to the proper input/video source.
5. You should now see the lm scanner’s screen on yourTV screen.
Transferring Images to Your Computer
IMPORTANT: The lm scanner cannot scan directly to a computer. Scanning must be completed on the
lm scanner.
1. Ensure your computer is powered on.
2. Connect the lm scanner to your computer via the included USB cable.
3. Power on the lm scanner.
4. In the lm scanner menu, select USB UPLOAD.
5. A new folder will appear on your computer. Your saved images can be found here.
You can now move these images from your scanner directly onto your computer.

Issue Solution
How can I get the best quality
scan possible?
Ensure the lm/slides are clean and that
you clean the inside of the scanner with the
included cleaning brush immediately before
scanning. See pg. 10 for instructions on how
to use the cleaning brush.
How should I prepare the lm/
slides to ensure the best possible
scan?
The lm/slide should be free of any dust/
ngerprints. This can be done with an
appropriate cleaning cloth.
I’ve noticed a consistent spot
on every slide I have scanned.
Is something wrong with my
scanner?
There is likely a small amount of dust inside
your unit. Use the included cleaning brush to
ensure there is no foreign debris. See pg. 10
for instructions on how to use the cleaning
brush.
Do I need a computer to begin
scanning?
Everything is plug-and-play right out of the
box. You can save images to an SD card (up
to 128GB) or the scanner’s internal memory
(64MB). You can then export to a computer at
a time that is more convenient.
What le format are the images
saved as?
The les are automatically saved in JPEG
format.
The scanner screen is black but it
has power.
Ensure an HDMI cable is not connected to
the back of the lm scanner. Conrm the USB
power source is 5V 1A and test with another
USB power source.
FAQ / Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
Can I use this to scan raw lm
or do I need to develop the
negatives rst?
The scanner will work for developed lm only.
I cannot see all my images on the
computer.
If an SD Card is inserted your computer will
only see images saved on the SD Card. The SD
Card must be removed to see images saved
on the internal storage.
Where can I recycle my old slides,
negatives, lm?
Older lm and photos can contain chemicals
that make them dicult to recycle. For proper
recycling/disposal information please consult
with your local recycling company.
My slides/negatives scanned
images have faded colors.
Over time slides and negatives can degrade
and the colors fade. Ensure your slides/
negatives are clean and use the color
adjustment options when scanning.
The colors in my scanned images
are reversed/negative.
Change the lm type in the menu to Negative
to scan properly.
What does the error“ERROR:
MEMORY FULL” mean?
This means that the internal memory or SD
Card is full. See pg. 11 for formatting the
storage to delete all photos and clear space.
It is recommended to use an SD Card when
scanning multiple photos.

Magnasonic has outstanding quality control; if something should go wrong with any of our products, we will repair it free
of charge within the warranty period. If the product cannot be repaired, we will replace the product. In the event that
Magnasonic replaces a product under warranty, the replacement would only carry the original warranty from the original
date of purchase.
Warranty Exclusions
Magnasonic products are warrantied for parts and labor for one year from date of original purchase, and are subject to
the terms and conditions of the warranty. Any refurbished products that are discontinued hold a 90 day warranty from
the date of original purchase. Magnasonic warranties are valid for the original owner and are non-transferable.
- Any defects caused or repairs required as a result of abusive operation, negligence, accident, improper installation or
inappropriate use as outlined in the owner’s manual.
- Any Magnasonic product tampered with, modied, adjusted, or repaired by any party other than Magnasonic.
- Any cosmetic damage to the surface or exterior that has been defaced or caused by normal wear and tear.
- Any damage caused by external or environmental conditions, including but not limited to, transmission line/power
line voltage or liquid spillage.
- Any product received without an appropriate model and serial number.
- Any products used for rental or commercial purposes.
- Any installation, set up and/or programming charges.
- Defect or damage as a result of connecting a product to an outlet with the incorrect voltage.
Voltage converters must be used where applicable.

Authorization. Products returned without a valid Return Authorization number will be refused.
Magnasonic products must be returned in their original packaging. Our products are packaged specially to protect them
from any damage during shipping, and without this packaging the return shipment could get damaged.
This warranty does not cover the shipping cost, insurance, or any other incidental charges. Products shipped for warranty
service must be pre-paid by the customer, and Magnasonic will cover the cost to ship the repaired or replaced product
back to the customer.
