Welcome to the Majacraft family
Congratulaons on purchasing a new Majacra Lile Gem.
We are very proud of this wheel and hope that it allows you to express your creavity in new and
excing ways. Take me to read through the instrucons before assembly, it really is worth it.
One of our goals is to make our wheels as easy and simple to use as possible, so they become almost
invisible as you express your creavity through bre.
If you were not already aware, we have designed all of our cra tools and accessories to be
compable with each other. If you have an interest in a specic technique, we are likely to have
specialist accessories that will t straight on to this wheel or tools to make creang easy. Talk to your
dealer, visit our web site or email us directly and we will do what we can to help.

Assembling a Majacraft Little Gem
1. Prepare the components
These instrucons demonstrate how to assemble your Majacra Lile Gem spinning wheel.
We recommend that you nd a clear work area where you can lay out all the components for
working on them.
Your wheel has been assembled at our workshop; it has been tested and it has been spun on.
Please unpack with care and retain the packaging. In the box will be:
1 Carry bag containing:
- 1 base assembly in a folded posion
- 1 spinning head with scotch tension mechanism
- 1 yer
- 1 travelling lazy kate
3 plasc bobbins
1 instrucon sheet, warranty card and Majacra user’s manual
2. Unpack the wheel
Remove the green carry bag from the box and open
the zipper.
Inside you will see the Base/Stem assembly.
In one of the side pockets you will nd the head.

Turn the Base/Stem assembly upside down. Take
care when doing this to support the pedals because
they can fall on to the edge of the drive wheel and
dent the wood. Find the silver slider knob and slide
it toward the centre of the stem (slide it out of the
locked posion).
Now turn the Base/Stem assembly the right way up and
rotate the spine assembly into the upright posion. It
will stop against the small metal bracket.
Rotate the Base/Stem assembly round so you are
looking at the front of the wheel. Push the slider knob
away from the centre of the stem to lock the stem
into the upright posion.
3. Move the stem to upright position

In the other pocket will be the yer and bobbins.
All the components can
now be arranged ready for
assembly.

5. Fit the drive bands
Loosen the stem lock knob and then slide the head into the Base/
Stem assembly.

4. Insert head into base assembly
When the head is in place, ghten the
stem lock knob to secure it in posion.
The thin drive belt (upper drive belt) contained in your green carry
bag should be put on rst. Put the band in the groove around the
very outside of the drive wheel and then stretch it up and over the
top pulley.

If plying, you may consider crossing this belt so the yer runs
backwards when you spin in the normal “forward” direcon. This
is a suggeson that you may nd easier when you come to ply your
yarn.

At this point screw the yer on to the yer sha. It
may help to hold the whorl with your le hand and
ghten the yer with your right (assuming you are
right handed). It may also be treadled on by holding
the yer in one hand and treadling the wheel in an
anclockwise direcon.
If you have some petroleum jelly or vaseline, rub a
small smear onto the yer sha. This has already been
done at the factory so is not essenal. Now slide the
bobbin on.
Fit the lower drive belt next. Firstly place the belt in the groove on
the crank pulley. Once the belt is in the drive wheel groove as shown
in 5c, use your other hand to turn the drive wheel to wind the belt
into place.

The tension spring should be posioned leaning to the
right hand side as shown in the picture.

If you are looking at the bamboo side of the drive wheel, you need
to put the belt on in such a way that the drive belt is closest on the
right hand side (shown by the arrow in image 5d). If the belt is put
on the other way, it will be more inclined to run backwards.

7. Travel kate
Insert the silver bobbin bars into the PVC bushes
in the travel kate. It may be necessar to use a so
mallet to tap the bobbin bars into place. If so, do this
on a bench or stable table.
At this point, we recommend that you polish your
Lile Gem using Majacra Lavender Polish or
alternavely a standard wood polish. While not
essenal, it will help keep your Lile Gem looking
excellent into the future.
8. Polish
Your Majacra Lile Gem is now assembled and you are ready to start on a new spinning adventure!
