ELK
Operang
• Having posioned the ELK under the paent
and connected it to the 4-Way Hand Control
and Airo 24 compressor, if possible, posion
a sturdy chair next to the paent for them to
hold so as to provide addional stability.
• Kneeling beside the paent, place them in a
seated posion on the ELK (g.10). When in
the seated posion, the paent should place
their arm on the chair seat to provide further
stability. If necessary, place a transfer belt
(with looped handles) around the paent’s
chest and adjust to t). Use the handles on
this belt to provide addional support and
stability while elevang.
• Explain to the paent what to expect when
the ELK elevates.
• Switch the Airo 24 to ‘On’. Press the number
1 buon on the 4-Way Hand Control (g.11).
Steady the paent as the ELK lis. The
compressor will automacally stop as the
secon becomes fully inated.
• Connue to operate buons 2, 3 and 4,
in sequence, in exactly the same manner.
Support the paent at all mes. Always
inate the ELK secons from the BOTTOM
UP BEGINNING WITH THE NO. 1 BUTTON.
• When all four secons are inated, the
paent may be helped to stand or to transfer
(g. 12).
• To deate the ELK, rst disconnect the air
hose from the Airo 24 and then press each
of the buons on the hand control in turn to
reduce the pressure in each secon. Once
pressure has been reduced, disconnect each
of the air hoses from the ELK.
• Aer use, roll the ELK up with the 4-Way
Hand Control and re-secure the ap around
the ends of the stability bar (see g. 1).
WARNING: While in use, never allow a secon to become parally deated while any secons
above it are inated. Secons must always be fully inated from the boom up, in sequence, in
order to maintain stability.
