Camel
The Camel by Mangar, is an inatable liing device
which is designed to sit up and li a fallen person
from the oor. When inated, the Camel lis the
paent into a raised seated posion ready to stand
with or without assistance.
This equipment may be used with or without a
helper as required.
The Camel is powered by a Mangar Airo Plus
Compressor and controlled using a 4-Way Hand
Control. Please refer to the separate Airo Plus
compressor instrucons before operang.

WARNINGS
• This equipment MUST only be used by persons
familiar in its use.
• The medical state of a person needing to be
raised MUST be assessed before commencing a
li.
• Ensure that the surface on which the Camel is to
be placed is free from sharp objects. NOTE: Place
a blanket, groundsheet, towel or similar under
the Camel if using it on a rough surface.
• If a slide sheet has been used to transfer the
paent onto the Camel it must be removed from
under the paent before commencing a li.
• Secons 2, 3 and 4 MUST always be fully inated
in sequence from the boom up, in order to
maintain stability. NOTE: The backrest may be
parally inated before any other secon is
raised. Once the lowest secon is fully inated,
the backrest can be raised further as required.
• Do not operate the Airo compressor in the
presence of ammable anaesthec mixtures
with air, oxygen or nitrous oxide, as these
mixtures can create a combusble environment
leading to the potenal for re or even an
explosion in the presence of a spark.

Camel
Standard Package Contents - g. 1
1 x Camel (A) (including carrying bag).
1 x 4-Way Hand Control (B).
1 x Airo Plus Compressor (C) with user instrucons.
Connecng the Hand Control and Airo -
g. 2
• Remove the Camel from the carrying bag,
unfasten the straps and unroll.
• Connect the four hoses from the hand control
to the corresponding numbered and coloured
connectors on the Camel (A).
• Connect the hose (B) from the hand control to
the Airo Plus compressor.
• Posion the Airo Plus compressor so that it will
not be in the way while posioning the paent.
Ensure that the hoses are not kinked.

Switching the Airo Plus ‘On’ & ‘O’ - g. 3
• To switch on, momentarily press the ‘Power’
buon (A g.3). The light (B) will come on and will
stay on while ‘Power’ is selected.
• To switch o, momentarily press the ‘Power’
buon. The baery status indicator light (C)
w i l l g o o u t a  e r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 5 m i n u t e s .
NOTE: If the Airo Plus has not been used for
1 hour, it will switch itself o.
When the Airo Plus is switched on, the internal
microprocessor carries out a baery voltage check
each me air is required and if the voltage becomes
too low, the Airo Plus will automacally switch itself
o.
Posioning the paent on the Camel - g. 4
• Posion the Camel at the side of the paent so
that the paent’s head is level with the Camel
badge (A). Note: Place a blanket, groundsheet,
towel or similar under the Camel if using it on a
rough surface.
• Transfer the paent onto the Camel. The head
should lie on the Camel badge (A) and the body
should lie centrally.
Using the Camel
The following instrucons apply equally when the
Camel is being operated by a person raising themselves
without assistance, or by an assistant raising a paent.
WARNING: If a slide sheet has been used to transfer
the paent onto the Camel it must be removed from
under the paent before commencing a li.
• Press the number 1 buon on the hand control
to parally inate the backrest secon unl the
paent is in a comfortable posion - g. 5
• Press the number 2 buon to inate the boom
secon unl it becomes rigid - g. 6

• Connue to press buons 3 and 4 in sequence
unl the secons become rigid, in exactly the
same manner - g. 7
• Press buon 1 to fully raise the backrest and
arrive at a sing posion - g. 8
• Whether assisted or used alone, the paent
should now be in a posion to stand or transfer
- g. 9
WARNING: In order to maintain stability, secons
must always be fully inated from the boom up,
in sequence.
Note: only the backrest (secon 1) may be parally
inated before the lower secons.

Aer Use
• To deate, disconnect each of the air hoses
from the Camel. NOTE: The inial ‘rush’ of air as
the hoses are disconnected from the Camel, can
be reduced by rst disconnecng the air hose
from the Airo Plus and then pressing each of
the buons on the hand control.
• Roll up the Camel with the hand control in the
hollow (A) - g. 10 secure the straps and place
in the carrying bag - g. 11
Maintenance
Other than roune cleaning, the Camel is
maintenance free.
We recommend that a thorough examinaon of
the Camel is carried out regularly; the frequency of
examinaon may need to be increased depending
on usage and operang environment.
If required, Mangar Internaonal can provide the
above inspecon within an annual service contract.

Roune Cleaning
Fully inate all secons of the Camel, sponge clean
with a non abrasive proprietary liquid cleaner or
disinfectant and dry thoroughly. Do not dry using
hot air.
Disinfecng
The Camel should be fully inated and pre-cleaned
by washing with detergent and water, thoroughly
rinsed and then disinfected using a 1:10 soluon of
household liquid bleach and water (1 part bleach
to 10 parts cold water). Leave the soluon on
the Camel for approximately 10 minutes before
thoroughly rinsing o with clean cold water. Allow
to air dry before storage. Do not dry using hot air.

The guarantee is given against defects in material and workmanship and comprises piece, parts and labour.
The guarantee is not valid in the case of fair wear and tear, wilful damage, common neglect, misuse or
unauthorised alteraon or repair by unqualied persons.
The following statements do not aect the consumer’s statutory rights. This product is sold on the
understanding that in the event of any defect of manufacture or material appearing within the warranty
period, the defect will be reced free of charge providing that:
(a) Reasonable evidence is provided (e.g. purchase invoice, delivery note) that the claim is being made
within the warranty period.
(b) The defect is not aributable to accidental damage (either in transit or otherwise), misuse or
unauthorised repair.
