Congratulaons on purchasing your new extractor. Shown below are just
a few things you need to do before you begin extracng. If you have any
quesons at all, please feel free to call your nearest Mann Lake locaon.
Experienced help is only a phone call away.
Aach the legs to the top of the extractor can with the nuts that are provid-
ed and ghten with an adjustable wrench. Lay the extractor on its side and
aach the leg support to each of the legs with the nuts that are provided.
The “feet” of the extractor legs have a hole that can be used to mount the
extractor. We suggest mounng to a 4’ x 4’ (121.92 cm x 121.92 cm) piece
of plywood for stability. The nal step is to aach the lid. On the rear side
of the extractor, insert one side of the plasc cover into the open poron
of the hinge located on the crossbar. Slide the lid into the closed poron of
the hinge to secure. Repeat with the front lid. You also need to install the
Safety Stop on the front right hand side of the lid. Place the Safety Stop on
the threaded bolt as shown. Place the threaded nut over the Safety Stop
and ghten with a 1/2” or 13mm socket. Note: if you would like to remove
the lid in the future, the Safety Stop will need to be removed. Installaon
of the Safety Stop is necessary to keep the lid from becoming dislodged
during extracng. Do not operate your extractor without the Safety Stop
in place. Now you are ready to begin extracng.
The basket is supported by allen screws located along the shaft at the top
and bottom of the basket. Be sure to tighten these screws prior to using.
If at any time the shaft spins but the basket does not, you will need to
tighten them again.
Frames should be uncapped prior to extracng. The load inside the extrac-
tor must be balanced in order for the basket to spin properly. The motor
on your new extractor is a variable speed motor. When using 9 1/8” (23.18 cm) or 6 1/4” (15.8 cm) frames with
wax foundaon, we recommend pung the speed control on 20. Run the extractor for 2-3 minutes each on “20,”
“50,” and for 4-5 minutes on “90.” At the end of that me, move the switch to “0,” wait for the basket to stop, and
ip your frames. Extract side 2 in the same fashion for 3 minutes on each seng. If necessary, repeat the process
again on side 1 to remove the last of the honey. Rotang the frame will lessen the occurrence of blowouts in the
wax foundaon from the weight of the honey.
If plasc foundaon is used, it is possible to extract each side 100%
before turning. Run for 5 minutes each on “20,” “50,” and “80,” then
switch to the “90-100” for an addional 10-15 minutes before ipping
your frames.
5⅜” (13.67 cm) frames are placed radially as shown on the opposite
page. It is not necessary to turn frames placed radially. Run for 5 min-
utes each with the dial on “20,” “50,” and “80,” then switch to the “90-
100” for an addional 10-15 minutes.
Keep your honey gate open when extracng to ensure the basket moves
freely. Your extractor is not intended to be a storage tank. Promptly move any honey to a storage container or
boling tank.
