Drawbar Adjustment
Adjustment of the drawbar hitch is critical to achieve optimal crop flow pattern
for the pickup
•A = ground to hitch height
•B = ground to output PTO tractor
•Adjust the position and tighten the bolts to 304—335 Nm
Note: the correct drawbar hitch height will depend on the model type and tyre
configuration. Refer to the Operators Manual, Section 4—Drawbar connection
and adjustment

The mounting position of the housing of the
mid-ship-bearing differs in functions of the
machine type and tires installed. There is 5
different positions- Please see operator
manual.

Pick Up Setup - Weight
Set the correct pick-up height and flotation.
The minimum tine to ground clearance is
25mm Avoid crop contamination with the
ground
Adjust flotation to give 30 –50kg of pick-up
down force.
The crop is continuously picked-up and fed
into the machine by the pick-up assembly. The
baffle plate on the side of the pick up reel
helps guide the material into the machine.
Four centering augers move the material from
the ends of the pick-up into the feeding
system.
Retract the cylinder and lower the pickup to
the ground.
Remove the special tool (1) from the cylinder
body (held in place by two wing-nuts) and
insert the tool horizontally into the shield
slots (7).
Raise the pickup and the special tool (1) will
hold the spring in the position you have
selected
Relocate the spring force setting collar (5) to
the position that best suites your machine
Lower the pickup until the special tool is free
Remove the special tool (1) from the shield
slots (7) and attach it back onto the cylinder
body using the two wing-nuts. 5

Pick Up Setup - Height
Gauge wheel adjustment
To position the gauge wheels proceed as follows:
•Put the machine on level ground and lower the pick-up.
•Turn the pickup reel manually until pick-up tines (1) of one bar are positioned in
their lowest position.
•Adjust the pickup gauge wheels (2) so
that the pickup tines (1) clear the
ground by a minimum of 30 mm
(1.18 in). In uneven or stony ground
conditions, adjust the gauge wheels
to provide 50 – 80 mm (2.0 – 3.1 in)
between the ground and the pickup
tines, depending on crop and field
conditions.
To adjust the height of the gauge
wheels, simply pull on the locking
pin (1) and select the required hole
for working height.

Pre-Compression
Set the stuffer lever 2—3 notches from the rear for silage and gradually
move the lever forward as the crop becomes drier
Note: The setting of the stuffer trip linkage determines the size of the
slice injected into the bale chamber and depends on crop conditions

Bale Formation
Number of Slices
Each slice wants to be 2 ½ - 3” in thickness
For a 5ft silage bale = 60 inches = 20 –24 slices per bale
For an 8ft straw bale = 96 inches = 32 –38 slices per bale

Main Screen

1. Information screen - This area displays the information of process and status of
the machine.
2. Menu bar - Displays a variety of buttons for operator selection. An arrow denotes
more lines are available above or below those shown.
3. Select implement key - Select the “Application Grid select” button to view and
choose from a grid of icons for all ISOBUS devices. If a camera is installed use this
button to switch to it.
4. Next implement key - Used to switch to the next ISOBUS device of which the
baler can be one.
5. VT screen - Select this button to view the active implement.
6. Home screen - Select this button and you will return to the home screen.
7. Job - Current active job.
8. Alarms/faults - Active alarms and/or faults.
9. The text at the bottom of the “ISOBUS” screen identifies the active application.

•No (colored) arrows shown: sufficient fill of the
precompression chamber, keep driving straight
over the center of the windrow.
•Green = suggestion of slight steering correction
•Light orange = recommend steering correction.
When staying too long in this zone, chance of
bale deformation.
•Dark orange = pay attention, strongly
recommend immediate steering correction
When staying too long in this zone, chance of
bale deformation
•Red = immediate steering correction needed,
chance of bale deformation and twine snap.
Capacity indicator (2)
•The capacity indication is the ratio between the
number of plunger strokes per stuffer stroke.

Operating Tips
Adapt forward speed to the nature of the crop to be baled, as well as to the
size of the windrow. Observe the capacity indicator on the monitor and strive
to have a consistent level slightly above the 1, 2 or 3 mark on the indicator.
When the pointer is just above a level mark, this will guarantee:
•An even thickness of the compressed slice
•A steady operation of the electronic density control
•A uniform density of the bale
•An homogenous bale weight, when the crop moisture content is stable
Avoid driving at a speed whereby the level is consistently just below a mark.
Overfeeding of the machine is indicated by a level raising above the 1 mark
and must be avoided.

Packer Cutter Machines
In silage, cutting long grass crop will improve the bale shape and density allowing a
good crop conservation. In addition, the bale will be easier to feed out.
Also in long straw, cutting offers the advantage of making denser and well-shaped
bales, which makes them easier to spread out.
The packer is driven continuously from the main gearbox and protected by a slip
clutch located at the right-hand side of the machine.
Should the packer fingers jam, the pickup assembly will also be stopped as the
pickup is driven from the packer drive line.
This CropCutter™system does not change
the packer functions of the Packer
machine version. On the CropCutter™
machine, up to six knives (1) can be fitted
in the lower front of the pre-compression
chamber.
The crop is cut by the action of the packer
fingers which move the crop against the
knives and into the pre-compression
chamber.
The knives are individually spring-loaded
and are so protected from damage caused
by overload or foreign objects.
A double-acting hydraulic cylinder (2)
allows to engage the knives when cutting is
desired, or to retract them when no cutting
is desired. The cylinder is located at the
right-hand side of the pre-compression
chamber.
The hydraulic cylinder (2) is controlled from
the tractor seat by a double-acting valve to
insert and retract the knives.

Packer Cutter Machines
Knife removal/installation
To remove the knives, proceed as follows:
1. Retract the knives hydraulically.
2. Lower the pickup onto the ground.
3. Completely lower the windguard on
its suspension blocks.
4. Pull the lock handle (2) and rotate the
knife latch (1) clockwise to move the
eccentric shaft which secures the
knives. The knives will all be unlocked
now.
5. Reach over the windguard and
pickup, and lift the knives out.
To install the knives, proceed as follows:
1. Install the knives from the front side of
the pickup.
2. Lock the knives in position by rotating
the knife latch (1) counter-clockwise.
3. Secure the knives in this position by
engaging the lock handle (2) in the
corresponding slotted hole.

Note: False knives come with the baler
from factory. When there is no need for
cutting, place the blank knives in the
slots to prevent any blockages.

Rotor Cutter Machines
Operation
On these machines the incoming crop from the pickup (1) is forced by the rotor
(2), which is cleaned by scrapers, further into the pre-compression chamber and
against a number of knives (3) which are installed in a drawer at the bottom of the
pre-compression chamber. All knives are individually spring-loaded and are so
protected from damage caused by overload or foreign objects. A double-acting
hydraulic cylinder allows to engage the knives when cutting is desired or to retract
them when no cutting is desired. The cylinder is located at the right-hand side of
the pre-compression chamber. Removing or adding knives in the drawer will
change the cutting length.
The rotor is driven continuously
from the main gearbox and
protected by a cut-out clutch which
is located at the right-hand side of
the machine.
Should the rotor jam, the pickup
assembly will also be stopped as the
pickup is driven from the rotor drive
line.

A lock-out valve (1) mounted inside
the drawbar frame diverts the oil
from the tractor valve to either the
knives insert/retract hydraulic
cylinder or to both the knife drawer
lower/raise hydraulic cylinders and
the knives insert/retract hydraulic
cylinder.

Rotor Cutter Machines
Knife protection
Each knife (1) is individually protected by an overload spring (2), which acts
on break-away linkage (3). Any overload, overfeeding or foreign object
(stones, branches, etc) will cause the affected knife to break away against the
force of the spring. When the obstruction has passed, the knife can return to
its original cutting position.

Knife removal/installation
To remove the knives, proceed as follows:
1. Open the lock-out valve.
2. First give a shot of oil pressure by means of the tractor hydraulic control in the
direction of drawer lift to get some clearance in the drawer frame latches.
3. Pull the safety lock (4) upwards to enable the latching hooks (2) to turn away.
Unlatch the hooks (2) by moving the lever (5) counter-clockwise.
4. Provide the hooks (2) from engaging by lowering the safety lock (4) again.
5. Lower the knife drawer frame by means of the tractor hydraulic control. At the
same time, the knife cylinder will retract, to lower the knives.
6. When the knife drawer frame is completely down, unlock the knife drawer lock
(3) and pull the knife drawer (1) out using the handle (6).
7. Once the knife drawer (1) has
been rolled out remove the
knives. Turn over the knife to
the front by holding the top of
the knife, then lift the knife to
easily remove it.

To install the knives, proceed as follows:
1. Install the knives in the knife drawer
(1).
NOTE: Make sure the knife is properly
seated with the notch well engaged over the
holding shaft below the pre-compression
chamber bottom. Rock the knife back and
forth several times to double check.
2. Roll the knife drawer (1) back into the
knife drawer frame and secure with the
knife drawer lock (3).
3. Make sure the lock-out valve is open.
4. Lift the knife drawer frame, by means
of the tractor hydraulic control valve,
until the latching hooks (2)
automatically engage.
NOTE: Check that the latching hooks (2) are
really well engaged and secured with the
safety lock (4). If not, free the linkages by
lubricating them.
5. Close the lock-out valve (1).
6. Engage/retract the knives as required
and begin normal operation.

Note: False knives come with the baler from
factory. When there is no need for cutting,
place the blank knives in the slots to prevent
any blockages.

Bale Compression
The plunger (10) moves the charge flake back and compresses it against the bale
to be formed in the bale chamber (11). Both bale chamber side doors (12) and
top door (13) are hinged and can move under the action of two density cylinders
(14). This is to modify the outlet section of the bale chamber and thus to control
the density of the bales produced. An electronic system measures the load on
the plunger when you push material rearwards. The electronic system will
control the hydraulic bale density system until the load measured is the same as
the density value pre-set by the operator. That value must be chosen in relation
to the nature and to the moisture content of the crop to be baled, as well as the
bale density required.

Stuffer trip sensitivity lever
Bale Compression
The setting of the stuffer trip sensitivity lever (1) determines the size of the
charge or flake injected into the bale chamber. Moving the lever will increase or
decrease the spring tension. Increasing the spring tension will result in feeding
bigger flakes. Decreasing the spring tension will result in feeding smaller flakes.
Adjust the stuffer trip sensitivity lever
(1) as low as possible maintaining
proper bale top fill. The lever in the
fourth notch (from the rear) on the
toothed sector will give satisfactory
results in most baling conditions. As
crop conditions are changing it might
be necessary to change the sensitivity.
Stuffer trip setting guide-lines are:
•The thickness of the flakes in the finished well-
shaped dense bale should measure between 60
– 80 mm (2.4 – 3.1 in).
•Observe the capacity indicator (1) on the
monitor.
•When an excessive stuffer shearbolt failure rate
is experienced, reduce the stuffer trip setting.
•Too high and too narrow swaths will not give
good feeding performance. Silage crops should
have a dry matter content between 40 –60% for
best feeding results. Whatever stuffer trip
adjustment will not necessarily compensate for
poorly made swaths.

Bale Compression
Bale Density System
The system uses its own hydraulic circuit which is independent from the tractor
hydraulics. A separate oil reservoir and oil filter are installed on the left-hand
side of the machine.

The density system can be operated in two different modes:
1. Automatic bale density control
2. Manual bale density control
Initial guide-lines for pressure settings are:
Crop Density system pressure
Silage 40 – 70 bar (580 – 1015 psi)
Hay 30 – 80 bar (435 – 1160 psi)
Straw 60 – 100 bar (870 – 1450 psi)
