This product was designed and manufactured to meet strict quality

operational precautions which you should be particularly aware of.
1. Read these Instructions: All the safety and operating

should be kept for future reference.
3. Heed all Warnings: All warnings on the appliance and in the
operating instructions should be adhered to.
4. Follow all Instructions: All operating and use instructions
should be followed.
5. Cleaning: Unplug this video product from the wall outlet before
cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use
a damp cloth for cleaning, and clean only with dry cloth.
6. Attachments: Only use attachments/accessories specified by
the manufacturer.
7. Water and Moisture: Do not use this video product near water
such as, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry
tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, and the like.
8. Accessories: Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or
table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the
apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the
cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
9. Ventilation: Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for
ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the video
product and to protect it from overheating, and these openings
must not be blocked or covered. Do not block any ventilation
openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions. Do not install near any heat sources such as
radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including
amplifiers) that produce heat. This video product should not
be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack
unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’s
instructions have been adhered to.
10. Power Sources: This video product should be operated only
under the type of power source indicated on the marked label.
If you are not sure of the type of power supply for your home,
consult the appliance dealer or a local power company. For
video products intended to operate with battery power, or
other sources, refer to the operating instructions.
11. Grounding or Polarization: Do not defeat the safety purpose of
the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two
blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug
has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade
or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided
plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for
replacement of the obsolete outlet.

12. Power-Cord Protection: Protect the power code from being
walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
13. Protective Attachment Plug: The appliance is equipped with
an attachment plug having overload protection. This is a
safety feature. See Instruction Manual for replacement or
resetting the protective device. If the plug needs to be
replaced, be sure that the service technician has used a
replacement plug specified by the manufacturer that has the
same overload protection as the original plug.
14. Lighting: Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or
when unused for long periods of time.
15. Power Lines: An outside antenna system should not be
located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric
light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power
lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system,
extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such
power lines or circuits. Any contact with them might be fatal.
16. Overloading: Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords
as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
17. Object and Liquid Entry: Never push objects of any kind into
this video product through openings as they may touch
dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in
a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the
video product.

18. Servicing: Do not attempt to service this video product
yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to
dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to a
qualified service personnel.
19. Damage Requiring Service: Servicing is required when the
apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-
supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or
objects have fallen into the apparatus has been exposed to
rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been
dropped.
20. Replacement Parts: When replacement parts are required, be
sure that the service technician has used replacement parts
specified by the manufacturer or have the same
characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions
may result in fire, electric shock or other hazards.
21. Safety Check: Upon the completion of any service or repairs
to this video product, ask a service technician to perform
safety checks to determine that the video product is in proper
operating condition.
22. Carts and Stands: The appliance should be used only with a
cart or stand that is recommended by the manufacturer.
23. An appliance and cart combination should be handled with
care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may
cause the appliance and cart combination to overturn.
24. When the projector is mounted on the ceiling, the Ceiling
Mount Kit approved by MARANTZ must be used for
installation.
25. Do not look into the lens when the projector is turned on. It
could damage your eyesight.
26. Unplug the projector from the wall outlet if it is not to be used
for a few days.

Widescreen flexibility

• The COMPONENT VIDEO INPUT IN terminal is ideally
corresponds to DVD and HDTV (1080i, and 720p). This input
ensures the highest video quality.
• The COMPONENT VIDEO INPUT IN terminal corresponds
to DVD. It also corresponds to the squeeze signal, the
progressive signal for DVD.
Picture mode and picture memory
• The unit has three picture modes: THEATER, STANDARD
and DYNAMIC. Furthermore, the unit has three kinds of
memories in each picture mode: THEATER1, THEATER2
and THEATER3. This allows the user to enjoy the fine
tuned pictures for his/her personal preference.

The unit is ready not only for video source but also for PC
and Karaoke. And through AUX IN connector, the unit can
display i.LINK/DV format image, which some digital video
cameras has its output.
Note: Pixel defects
DMDTM (Digital Micromirror DeviceTM) is one of the most
advanced technologies for consumer products. The DMDTM
made by high precision technology, however some pixel
defects may be found on the projected image. We are trying
our best to control the quality in order to reduce the number
of defective pixels. It is almost impossible to have zero pixel
defects, even using the most advanced technology. This is
not a problem only for Marantz, but all DLPTM projector
manufactures. Therefore we have to note that the warranty
does not cover the DMDTM for pixel defects. We appreciate
your understandings.
Note: Lamp
SHP lamp is one of the most advanced technologies for
consumer products. The lamp made by high precision
technology, however some lamps might be failing before it
reaches its life. And projector’s brightness is getting darker
along with accumulated lamp usage hours. We are trying
our best to control the quality in order to reduce lamp
failures. It is almost impossible to have zero failure, even
using the most advanced technology. This is not a problem
only for Marantz, but all projector manufactures. Therefore
we have to note that the warranty does not cover the SHP
lamp for lamp failures: explosion, and non-lighting except
initial use. And also we have to note that the warranty does
not cover the SHP lamp for lamp failures: flickering, and
getting darker along with accumulated lamp usage hours,
We appreciate your understandings.

Select an input signal. Every time the key is pressed, the
unit toggles between COMPONENT, S-VIDEO, VIDEO, and

Press to display a focus pattern.

Control the menu cursor.
Press the 5key for more than three seconds to turn the
HIGH BRIGHT mode on.
Press the ∞key to turn the HIGH BRIGHT mode off.
!3 POWER ON indicator
• Lights up when the power is turned on.
• Flashes while the projector goes into standby mode for
about one minute.
!4 STANDBY indicator
Lights up when the power is turned on.
!5 WARNING/LAMP indicator
Flashes or lights up when something is wrong with the lamp
cover, lamp, fan, or temperature inside the projector.
!6 Ventilation holes
Notes:
• Do not place anything near the ventilation holes. It may
cause heat.
• Do not place your hand or objects near the ventilation
holes; the air coming out is hot.

Connect to the REMOTE CONTROL connectors of other
Marantz equipment. It is then possible to control the whole
system with a single Remote Controller.
⁄0 TRIG.1
When the projector is turned on, a 12-volt signal is sent to
the equipment connected to the TRIG.1. This allows
automatic triggering of an accessory, such as a powered
up/down screen, whenever the projector is turned on or off.
When the unit is turned off, there is no voltage in output and
when the unit is turned on, 12 V is output.
Note:
The user cannot use the connector as the power source.
⁄1 TRIG.2
Either a 12-volt signal or a 0-volt signal is sent to the
equipment connected to the TRIG.2, according to the setting
in the OSD menu.
Note:
The user cannot use these connector; TRIG.1 and TRIG.2, as
the power source.

1. Open the cover.
2. Insert batteries (AA).
Make sure to match the + and –marks on the batteries
with inside the battery component.
3. Close the cover.
CAUTION
–The available battery types are limited: manganese dry
cell and alkaline dry cell.
–Do not mix different battery types.
–Do not mix old and new batteries.
–Only batteries of the same type are to be used.
–Remove exhausted batteries from the Remote
Controller.
–Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
–Do not use rechargeable batteries.
–Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
–The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
–Never throw batteries in a fire or attempt to open up its
outer casing.
–If the user does not intend to use the Remote Controller
for a long time, remove the batteries.
–Keep away from heat.
–The effect range of the Remote Controller is approximately
6m.
–Do not be subjected to strong shock.
–Do not be subjected to moisture.
If the unit gets moistured, wipe it off immediately.
–The Remote Controller operation may not function if the
projector’s IR sensors are exposed to direct sun light or
strong artificial light, or if there is an obstacle between
the IR sensors and the Remote Controller.

•Press the ZOOM key, the NORMAL key or the FULL key on the remote controller for the 4:3 aspect ratio video source.
•Press the FULL key on the remote controller for 16:9 aspect ratio video source, such as 1080I, 1035I, and 720p video systems.
•Press the FULL key on the remote controller for the squeezed video source.

•Use the proper cables for each connection.
•Insert the plug for the cables properly. Any plugs that are not fully inserted often generate a noise.

SET UP PROCEDURES

1. Connect the supplied AC power cord.
The STANDBY indicator lights up and the projector
goes into the standby mode.
2. Press the POWER ON key on the remote controller or
the POWER key on the projector.
The POWER indicator lights up.
3. Switch on the equipment connected to the projector.
Press the INPUT SELECT key on the projector or the
COMPONENT key, S-VIDEO key, VIDEO key, or RGB
key on the remote controller.
4. Press the FOCUS key on the remote controller to
display the FOCUS pattern and turn the Focus ring to
make an adjustment. Adjust the focus for the sharpest
image possible to obtain, using the built-in focus
pattern.
Press the FOCUS key again to clear off the pattern.
5. Turn the Zoom ring to adjust the size of the image.
1. Press the STANDBY key on the remote controller or the
POWER key on the projector.
2. The fan continues to run for a while to reduce internal
heat. The POWER ON indicator flashes in blue and no
key will be effective. After sufficient cooling has been
provided, the STANDBY indicator lights in red.

The user can adjust the picture to suit his/her own preference
by using the Picture Adjust feature.

When the user selects “Yes”, the following message appears:

lamp life is initialized.

the factory default settings except for the lamp life.

Lamp Life
The user can display the remaining lamp life at any time by
pressing the INFO key on the remote controller. Lamp Life
is displayed at the very bottom of the menu.
Notes:
•When the Lamp Life becomes less than 100 hours , it is
recommended to replace the lamp unit. A lamp may be
worn out when the Lamp Life becomes less than 100
hours .
•The projector is designed not to turn on after the lamp use
has exceeded 2000 hours. (Lamp Life 0 HOUR)
If the projector is in use, it will turn off.

3When the lamp life becomes less than 100 hours and the
unit is still on, the remaining lamp life is displayed on the
screen.

3When the lamp life becomes less than 5 hours, the
remaining lamp life is displayed on the screen at one-
hour interval.
To clear the menu above, press the MENU key.

3When the lamp life has expired (Lamp Life 0 HOURS),
the unit will be immediately turned off, and the WARNING
indicator will blink in orange.
Use the following procedure to reset (initialize) the lamp life
indicator after replacing the lamp with a new one.
1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Wait about one minute and reconnect the power cord.
3. Press the POWER key. Only the POWER key will be of
effect. The following message appears for 120 seconds.
4. Select “Yes”, using the 2 / 3keys.
5. Press the ENTER key. The lamp life indicator is now
initialized.

CAUTION:
•Do not touch the lamp and the lamp unit. It will be
extremely hot. Allow at least one hour for the lamp to cool
down before handling.
•Do not loosen any screws except for those mentioned
below.
•The lamp may break if handled improperly.
•Do not use a lamp housing other than a Marantz
replacement lamp unit.
WARNING:
•The lamp itself may get hot. Be careful when handling.
1. Press the POWER key to turn the projector off.
2. Unplug the AC power cord.
3. Wait at least one hour for the lamp and lamp unit to cool
down.
4. Turn the projector upside down carefully.
(Read the caution and warning labels on the lamp
cover.)
5. Loosen the lamp cover securing screw.
6. Remove the lamp cover.
7. Loosen the three lamp housing screws.
(This projector has a safety switch.)
8. Hold the handle then pull the lamp unit upward to
remove.
9. Install the new lamp unit.

.Secure the lamp unit with the three screws.

.Replace the lamp cover and secure it with a screw
driver.
If the lens becomes dirty or smudged, clean it with a soft dry
cloth. Do not use a dampcloth, detergent solution, or
thinner. It may remain as stains. Use optical lens cleaners
only which are approved for eyeglasses or cameras.
When replacement parts are required, be sure to inform only
a Marantz authorized service center. Only the use of
replacement parts specified by Marantz, whose features are
equivalent to the original parts, is allowed. Unauthorized
substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other
hazards.
Therefore, the warranty may not be guaranteed.
