TampingRammerisacompactingmachine,capableofquicklyworkingbyapplyingconsecutive
impactstothe surfaceofsoil-inordertolevelthe uneven soil surface,tocompactthe soil uniformly
sothatthe voidamongsoilparticlesareminimized and toincreaseitsdrydensitywithmoistureinthe
soil removed.
Construction ofTamping Rammer
Air-cooled engine hasbee installed asitssourceofpower.
Transmission ofthe poweristakenplacebyincreasingengine speedtoengageacentrifugalclutch,
and thespeed issubstantiallyreduced bymeansofgearsand rotationalmotion isconverted into
reciprocal(vertical)motion.

lThismachine isofoil bathlubrication system.
lCheck theoil levelthroughawindowatrearend ofthe foot.Replenishoil ifoil isnotvisibleat
the window.Forlubrication,useautomobileengineoil of10W-30 SE,SForbettergrade.
Capacityis830cc.
lFill the fueltankwithregulargasoline (unleaded).Simultaneously,check engine oil andmakeit
ahabit toreplenishontheearlierside. Lowlubricationoil levelmayresult inengine seizuredue
toconsumption duringoperation.Nevertheless,oil levelshouldbecheckedpriortostartup
withoutfail.Forlubrication,useautomobileengine oil of10W-30 SE,SForbettergrade.See
Engine OperatingManualforfurtherdetail.

lCheck everybolt, nutorscrewed area fortightness. Loosenedduetovibration may resultin
unexpectedlyserioustrouble. Besuretotightenanyscrewedarea.
lRemovedirt and dust. Particularlyclean the vicinityofrecoil starterand foot.
Operation
Starting up forPetrol engine
1.Open the fuelshut-offvalvebymovingthe fuelcock leveltothe open position.
2.Set theengine ON/OFF switchtothe “ON”position.
3.Gripthe recoil starterhandleandpull ituntil you feelslightresistance.Thenpull sharplyand
quickly. Returnthe recoil starterhandletothe startercasebeforereleasing.
4.Gripthe recoil starterhandleandpull italittletofeelaslightresistance.Thenpull itpowerfully
fromthere.Toreleasethe handledonot releaseit at the position whereithasbeen pulled to, but
releaseit afterreturningcloselytothestartercase.
5.Ifthe engine hasstarted,whilelisteningtoexplosion sounds,returnthe chokeleverslowlyto
full-open position.Besuretoperformawarm-uprun forthe period 3to5minutesatlowspeed,
whilepayingcarefulattentiontogasleakageorabnormalsound.
6.Ifitisdifficulttostartthe engine byrepeatedlypullingthe starterrope,removeignition plugand
check thesparkingperformance. Iftheplugiswet due toexcessivefuelintakeorsoiled,replace
the coil orclean sufficientlytoitsinternals.Withthe ignition plugremoved,pullthe recoil starter
handle2-3timestodischargeexcessiveblended gas.
Starting up formachine
1.Turningthechokeleveltoopenthechoke.Running the engine for5minutesatlowspeed to
warmthe engine.
2.Movethe throttlelevelquicklytothe “FULLOPEN”position.DONOTmovethe throttlelevel
slowlyasthismaycausedamagetothe clutchorspring.
Caution: Makesurethatthe throttleleverismoved tothe FULLOPENposition.Operatingthe
rammerat less than full speedscan result indamage tothe clutchspringsorfoot.
3.Afterstartingtotampingaction,adjuststhe jumpingmotion tosuitparticularsoil condition by
lightlycontrollingthe throttlelever.When the enginespeed fallsbetween the setvaluesshown
on theengine,yourworkcan becarried outatthebestefficiently.Increasingtheengine speed
unnecessarily,doesnotcausethecompaction forcetoincrease.Onthecontrary,aresultant
resonancecausesthe compaction forcetodecrease, damagingthe machine.
4.Undercoldweather,the oil inthe machine being viscous,resistanceatreciprocating partis
greatercausingthetampingrammertoperformsomewhatirregularmovement. Therefore,itis
recommended toperformwarm-uprun whilemovingthe throttleleverrepeatedlybetween ON
and OFF positions, beforeenteringthe work.
5.Soil contactingsurfaceofthe footislined withheat-treatedmetalsheetforextrastrength.
However,forcompactingcobblestone,usethefilling-upsoil forexamplesothatthe foot hitsthe
soil uniformly.
6.Thetampingrammerhasbeen designedtoadvancewhilejumping.Forquickeradvance,erect
the machine bypushingitshandledownslightlysothatflatsurfaceofthe footatitsrear-end
contactstheground.
7.Tostopthe tampingaction, movethrottleleverquicklyfromthe FULLOPENtoIDLEposition.

ToStop
Normal shutdown
1.Withthethrottleleverclosed fromONtoOFF,runtheengine for3-5minutesatlowspeed,and
aftertemperatureislowered, turntheswitchtothe “OFF”position.
2.Closethe fuelshut-offvalvebymovingthe fuelcock levertothe CLOSEDposition.
Emergency shutdown
Movethe throttleleverquicklytothe IDLEposition,and turnthe engine ON/OFF switchtothe OFF
position.

Takeof ‘Bolt, Cover’ofthe crankcaseupperpartand take ‘Element’off ‘AIRCLEANER’.Wetthe
bottomelement (gray)with7-9cc and letupperelement (yellow)befamiliarwithoil.

Storage
Rammershouldbestored insuchposition asitisplaced onlevel,afterengine andmachine have
been cooled down.Besuretosecuretherammerasnecessarytoavoidfallingdown.If the rammer
hastobelaiddowninevitably,tightenfueltankcapand engine oil plugsecurelyand waituntil engine
and machine arecooled down.Afterlayingitdown,makesurethatthereisno leakoffueloroil.(If
fuelleaks, drainthe tank)
