Main Features

4
Bluetooth-capable devices are typically designed to
operate using one of the 13 established “profiles” that
enable wireless electronic communication. Two of these
profiles are commonly applied to mobile phone use:
Hands Free (Cordless Telephony) Profile
Defines how Bluetooth can be used with a wireless
phone. Also describes how a Bluetooth-adapted mobile
phone should switch to the Bluetooth wireless phone
function when it comes within reach of a Bluetooth base
station. This is often used to allow hands-free kits to
communicate with mobile phones in the car.
Headset Profile
Defines how a Bluetooth-headset should communicate
with headsets or computers. This is the most commonly
used profile, providing support for the popular Bluetooth
headsets used with mobile phones. Its commands
provide minimal headset controls, including the ability to
ring, answer a call, hang up and adjust the volume.
Introduction to Profiles

The SoundPort Bluetooth EarSet has a rechargeable
lithium-polymer battery inside.
Full charging provides 240 hours in standby mode or a
maximum of seven hours of continuous use.
Before using the EarSet the first time, charge a battery
fully. Charging time is about two hours from discharged
to fully charged. The EarSet uses a state-of-the-art,
lithium-ion-polymer battery. The EarSet battery life is not
affected by battery draining.
Step 1 Connect AC/DC jack to EarSet.
Step 2 Red LED is on while charging the battery.
Step 3 Charging is completed when red LED is off.

Insertion and Removal
Before inserting the SoundPort in your ear, couple
the EarSet to your custom earmold. To insert, hold
the EarSet on the outer side between your thumb and
forefinger. Gently insert the canal tip of the earmold
into the ear canal. Then softly press the earmold into
place by pressing the outer edge of the EarSet with your
fingertip.
Operation

7
To remove the EarSet, grasp the coupling area (the
section between the EarSet and the earmold) between
your fore-finger and your thumb. Your elbow should be
pointing straight out; swing your elbow gently forward so
that you remove the back part of the earmold from your
ear first.
Operation

8
Ear Hook
Use of the ear hook is not necessary; however, if you
choose to use it, insert it onto the back of the SoundPort
to fit your right or left ear.
With the back side of
the EarSet facing you
and the pointed end down,
place the pin at the end of
the ear hook into the hole
on the left side of the hook
receptacle. Then gently pull
the second pin into the hole
on the right side of
the receptacle. This
will position the unit
to be worn on your
left ear.
Reverse the pins in
the receptacle
to wear the unit
on your right ear.

Your mobile phone must support Bluetooth
communication in order to pair with the SoundPort
EarSet.
Step 1 Press Power ON/OFF for three seconds
to switch the EarSet off. Wait at least
three seconds.
Step 2 Press and hold the Power ON/OFF button for
approximately seven seconds until the LED
starts to flash Green and Red alternately.
Step 3 The EarSet is now in pairing mode and can be
detected by a Bluetooth mobile phone.
Add the EarSet to the list of devices on your mobile
phone’s menu; see your mobile phone manual for
pairing instructions. When your phone prompts you for a
PIN, enter “0000.”

EarSet will ring.

Making a call
The EarSet does not have a keyboard, so it is
necessary to either dial the call on your mobile
phone or use Voice Dialing to make calls. To use
Voice Dialing, you have to record or type tags for
the contact list in your mobile phone. Refer to your
mobile phone manual for instructions on adding
tags. Once they are recorded on your mobile
phone, use the instructions below to place a call:
Step 1 Record or type a tag on phone (See the
phone manual for details)
Step 2 Short press the TALK button
Step 3 Wait for the beep, then say the name of the
person you want to call

12
Cleaning and Care
Your earmold should be cleaned on a regular basis
with a soft, damp cloth. Periodically, you may wash
it in warm, soapy water. Be certain that the earmold
is detached and far away from any moisture before
cleaning. Never use solvents, cleaning fluids or oil to
clean your instrument or earmold.
It is a good idea to perform all cleaning above a soft
cloth or towel on a desk or table. This will keep the
earmold from potentially damaging falls to hard surfaces
if you drop it. It is also wise to keep your earmold out of
the reach of pets and children.
Your earmold may be so comfortable that you forget you
have them on, so develop the mental habit of checking
your ears before going swimming, taking a shower or
applying hair spray. Should the earmold get wet, do not
attempt to dry it in an oven, microwave or with a hair
dryer; the heat will most certainly damage it. Instead,
simply set the earmold on a towel in a safe place until it
is dry.
