state. Do not add fuel while engine is running.
Stop and cool the engine before adding fuel.
DO NOT SMOKE!
SAFETY GUARDS: It is the owner's
responsibility to ensure that all guards and
shields are in place and in working order.
IGNITION SYSTEMS: Breakerless, magneto,

OPERATION
Introduction
MBW equipment is intended for use in very severe
applications. They are powered by four cycle engines and
are available in different sizes and a selection of engines.
This parts manual contains only standard parts. Variations of
these parts as well as other special parts are not included.
Contact your local MBW distributor for assistance in
identifying parts not included in this manual.
Before Starting & Operating
• Use water based material only. Do not use flammable
material. Failure to comply could result in serious bodily
and or equipment damage and void warranty.
• Thoroughly agitate materials to be sprayed. High solid
content from bottom of container can cause pump failure,
voiding warranty.
• REMEMBER! It is the owner’s responsibility to
communicate information on the safe use and proper
operation of this unit to the operators.
• Review ALL of the Safety Precautions listed on page 1 of
this manual.
• Familiarize yourself with the operation of the machine
and confirm that all controls function properly.
• Know how to STOP the machine in case of an
emergency.
• Make sure hands, feet, and clothing are at a safe distance
from any moving parts.
• OIL LEVEL - Check the oil level in the engine, gear
reducer and pump. For more information see
“Lubrication” under the respective engine’s/pump’s
Owners Manual.
• AIR CLEANER - Check to ensure element is in good
condition and properly installed.
• FUEL SUPPLY - The engines on MBW equipment require
an automotive grade of clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline.
• FUEL FILTER - If clogged or damaged, replace.
• Inspect unit for loose or missing hardware or guards and
cracked or damaged hoses. Tighten or replace any loose
or missing hardware. DO NOT OPERATE SPRAYER with
damaged hoses or missing guards. Replace damaged
hoses or missing guards before operating unit.
• SPRAY GUN - Check spray gun nozzle and all hoses &
fittings to ensure they are free of all debris or blockage.
Starting Engine
1. Check fuel level and open fuel valve.
2. Set throttle at idle position.
3. Choke engine and pull starter rope. A warm engine
may not need to be choked
4. After starting, open choke gradually and let engine
warm up at idle.
Operating
1. All materials to be sprayed MUST be thoroughly
agitated. Failure to properly mix product before
spaying can result in damage to pump voiding
warranty.
2. To start spraying, open throttle fully & squeeze trigger.
3. Follow all manufactures specifications for product
application, cure time and clean-up for all materials
applied with this equipment.
4. Do not allow pump to run dry. Stop engine before the
pump runs out of fluid.
Stopping Engine
1. Return throttle to idle and allow engine to run for a few
minutes before turning off.
2. Turn engine switch to off and close fuel valve.
3. Clean pump after each use. Refer to Cleaning, page
4 for proper cleaning procedure.
WARNING
Failure to clean pump after each use could result
in damage to the pump and personal injury.
CAUTION
Freezing fluids can cause damage to the pump. If
unit is likely to be stored in freezing temperatures,
always exercise the winterizing procedure.
WARNING
Always stop the engine before: Adding fuel.
Leaving the equipment unattended for any amount
of time.
Before making any repairs or adjustments to the
machine.

- 5 -
MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Always exercise the stopping procedure before
servicing or lubricating the unit.
After servicing the unit, replace and fasten all
guards, shields, and covers to their original
positions before resuming operation.
CAUTION
Always verify fluid levels and check for leaks after
changing fluids.
Do not drain oil onto ground, into open streams,
or down sewage drains.
Maintenance Schedule
1. Applies to BMS95 only.
2. Check all hardware after the first 5 hours of use, then follow the maintenance schedule.
Fluid Levels
Engine Maintenance
Refer to the engine owner’s manual for maintenance
intervals and procedures.
Engine Speed
The engine speed is factory preset according to the
specifications section of this manual. Do not tamper with the
governor settings. The governor establishes safe operating
limits which must not be exceeded.
Cleaning
1. Cleaning of pump and equipment, refer to
manufacture’s literature of each chemical being
sprayed for proper cleaning instructions and cleaning
agent. Do not allow spraying solution to dry in the
pump. Failure to properly clean sprayer will void
warranty.
Winterizing
Winterize your sprayer when temperatures may drop
below freezing.
1. Drain and thoroughly clean pump.
2. Fill pump with a 50/50 water and antifreeze mixture.

SERVICE
Assembly and disassembly should be performed by a
service technician who has been factory trained on MBW
equipment. The unit should be clean and free of debris.
Pressure washing before disassembly is recommended.
• Prior to assembly, wash all parts in a suitable cleaner or
solvent.
• Check moving parts for wear and failure. Refer to the
Replacement section in this manual for tolerance and
replacement cycles.
• All shafts and housings should be oiled prior to pressing
bearings. Also, ensure that the bearings are pressed
square and are seated properly.
• All gaskets and seals should be replaced after any
disassembly.

Disassembly
Refer to BMS74, page 10.
1. Detach all hoses.
2. Remove coupler guard (# 2)
3. Remove engine mounting bolts and slide engine out
to disengage coupler.
4. Inspect coupler spider (# 13) for wear. Replace if
necessary.
5. Remove pump (# 7).
6. Remove fittings. Use care not to damage the soft
brass threads.
Assembly
Refer to BMS74, page 10.
1. Assemble couplers (# 11, # 12) on to Engine and
Pump. End of shafts should be flush with front of
coupler. Use antisieze on shafts to insure easy
maintenance in the future. Apply medium strength
Loctite to coupler set screws to prevent screws from
becoming loose.
2. Assemble fittings to pump as shown in diagram. Use
a thread sealing compound on threads to prevent
leaks.
3. Loosely assemble pump to frame.
4. Insert coupler spider into pump coupler.
5. Loosely assemble engine to frame. Take care to align
coupler halves to avoid damage to the spider.
6. Tighten engine and pump mounting bolts.
7. Check for any excessive binding in the coupler by
rotating shafts. If found, correct the problem before
use.
8. Reinstall the coupler guard.
9. When first using pump after assembly, check and
correct any leaks that occur.
BMS 95
Disassembly
Refer to BMS 95, page 12.
1. Detach all hoses
2. Remove hardware that hold engine and pump to the
frame and remove engine and pump as a unit.
3. To separate pump from engine, remove the (4) socket
head cap screws from the pumps mounting flange
and slide the pump of the engine shaft.
4. If removing any fittings, use care not to damage soft
brass threads.
Assembly
Refer to BMS 95, page 12.
1. Press key into engine shaft and apply an antiseize
compound.
2. Slide the engine and pump together after aligning the
keyways.
