Dear Customer:
Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’ve just purchased is
only the start of your musical enjoyment. Now it’s time to consider how you
can maximize the fun and excitement your equipment offers. This
manufacturer and the Electronic Industries Association’s Consumer
Electronics Group want you to get the most out of your equipment by
playing it at a safe level. One that lets the sound come through loud and
clear without annoying blaring or distortion and, most importantly, without
affecting your sensitive hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing “comfort level” adapts to
higher volumes of sound. So what sounds “normal” can actually be loud
and harmful to your hearing. Guard against this by setting your equipment
at a safe level BEFORE your hearing adapts.
To establish a safe level:
•Start your volume control at a low setting.
• Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly,
and without distortion.
Once you have established a comfortable sound level:
• Set the dial and leave it there.
Taking a minute to do this now will help to prevent hearing damage or loss
in the future. After all, we want you listening for a lifetime.

USING THE AC ADAPTER (INCLUDED)
1. Plug the small end of the AC adapter into the DC IN jack on the rear of
the unit.
2. Connect the other end (with two blades) into an AC outlet having 120V,
60Hz AC only.
NOTES:
• Only use the supplied AC adapter which has the following specs: DC
9V, 1500mA z.
•To charge the Mix Stick (DDA8040), you must first slide the Power
switch on the Mix Stick to the OFF position. Then, directly connect the
player to the Audio Input plug and the USB jack and the player’s built-
in rechargeable battery will charge with AC adapter or USB cable.
•Tocharge the Mix Max (DMP9050), connect the player to the Audio
Input plug and the USB jack using the Mix Max adapter and the player’s
built-in rechargeable battery will charge with AC adapter or USB cable.
While charging the Mix Max, there are two scenarios: If the Mix Max is
ON while charging,the battery indicator will flash between empty and
the current charge. Once the battery is fully charged, the indicator will
stop flashing. If the Mix Max is OFF while charging,the screen will
show an animated “Charging Battery” icon. Once the battery is fully
charged, the screen will show “Battery Full”.
• It takes approx. three hours to charge the Mix Stick/Mix Max battery
from empty to full.

OPERATION
Connect the AC adapter as
described on page 5. Press the
Power button on this unit and the
lights around the speakers will
light solid.

For the Mix Stick (DDA8040):
Slide the Power switch on the Mix
Stick to the ON position. Then insert
the Mix Stick directly onto the Audio
Input plug and the USB jack (as
shown). After a few seconds,
playback will start automatically.
The sound will be heard through
this unit and the lights around the
speakers will flash randomly.
Continue to Step 6.

For the Mix Max (DMP9050):
Follow the instructions in the Mix
Max owner’s manual to turn the
unit on and enter Music Playback
mode. Then, insert the Mix Max
directly onto the Mix Max adapter
(as shown).

Next, insert the Mix Max adapter
directly onto the Audio Input plug
and the USB jack (as shown). After
afew seconds, playback will start
automatically.The sound will be
heard through this unit and the
lights around the speakers will
flash randomly. Continue to Step 6.

For all other players:
Insert the Audio In cable (included)
to your player's Line Out or
Headphone jack and the other end
to the Audio Input Plug of this unit
(as shown). Then, refer to the
owner's manual of your player to
start playback. The sound will be
heard through this unit and the
lights around the speakers will flash
randomly.

Adjust the volume by rotating the
Volume control 1at the top of this
unit and the Volume control of your
player.
When finished, press the Power
button 2on this unit to turn it off.
Then, unplug this unit and your
player. Also, remember to turn off
your player, in order to preserve the
battery.

NOTE:
•If the lights around the speakers do not flash randomly during playback,
increase the volume level of your player.
• For private listening, connect headphones (not included) to the
Headphones jack located at the front of this unit.

CONNECTING THIS UNIT TO YOUR COMPUTER
Connect the USB cable (not
included) to the USB Out jack
(at the rear of this unit), as
shown, and connect the other
end to your computer.

With either the Mix Stick
(DDA8040) or Mix Max
(DMP9050) connected to this unit
(see page 7), press the USB
button to the “in” position. Then,
you can transfer media files
between the Mix Stick or Mix Max
and your computer.
