Introduction
Gigabit Fiber to Gigabit Fiber (100/1000) Media Converter is a cost-
effective solution for converting 1000Base-FX to 100/1000Base-FX
cabling. It is a standalone converter unit, which allows your network
connectivity to be more flexible.
Gigabit Fiber to Gigabit Fiber (100/1000) Media Converter will allow you to
extend the cabling distance by different transceiver type and its available
connection. The Gigabit Fiber Converter provides you with one SFP
(Mini-GBIC) port for your 1000BaseFX fiber optic cable and one SFP
(Mini-GBIC) port for your 100/1000Base-FX fiber optic cable connection.
There are 3 DIP—switches to set the operation mode for Fiber ports and
link loss forwarding function.

Hardware Description
Gigabit Fiber to Gigabit Fiber (100/1000) Media Converter dimensions are
119mm x 85mm x 26mm (W x D x H)
Front Panel
The front panel of Gigabit Fiber to Gigabit Fiber (100/1000) Media
Converter consists of two SFP (Mini-GBIC) slots and 4 LED Indicators
(SPD, LK/ACT, and PWR).

Ports
Mini-GBIC slots: It supports 3.3V.The Mini-GBIC module is optional.
There are 3 LED indicators for Mini-GBIC port—LNK/ACT and SPD.





LED Indicators
There are 4 diagnostic LEDs located on the Front panel of converter
module. They provide real-time information of system and optional status.
The following table provides description of the LED status and their
meanings.

DIP-switch
The DIP-switch is used to configure operation mode for LLF (Link Loss
Forwarding)/LFP (Link Fault Pass-Through) and operation mode for
Fiber ports. The default value of Dip-switch is OFF.

Link Loss Forwarding:
With LLF enabled, the system allows the link failure of one side to be
reported to the other side.
[Note] Please don’t change the DIP-switch setting when fiber port is
transmitting or receiving data. It may cause some data error. After
changing the DIP-switch setting, please power off and on the converter to
have the configuration taken effective.
Rear Panel
The rear panel contains a power socket. This power socket accepts DC9V
voltage and minimum 0.7A supplied current.

Cabling
Fiber segment using single-mode connector type must use 9/125μm
single-mode fiber cable. The connection distance depends on the
fiber transceiver type the user has chosen.
Fiber segment using multi-mode connector type must use 50/125 or
62.5/125μm multi-mode fiber cable. The connection distance
depends on the fiber transceiver type the user has chosen.

Troubles shooting
Verify that you are using the right power adapter (DC 9V, 0.7A).
Please don’t use the power adapter with DC output higher than 9V, or
it might burn this converter down.
Check the configuration of the DIP-switch. It must be set in the same
operation mode with the link partner.
Select the proper Fiber cable to construct your network. The
single-mode converter must use single-mode fiber cable. Please
check that you are using the right cable.
