Fixing the stereo speakers
The two stereo speakers have a Velcro/adhesive strip that aids their fixing into
your helmet. Beware not to keep the volume too high, you must always be able
to listen to the trac sound.
Fixing the microphone
Boom Microphone
Place the section with the Velcro/adhesive strip between the padding and the
rigid cover of the helmet, so that the microphone is correctly positioned in
front of your mouth and that the white symbol is facing your mouth. This type
of microphone is suited for Open Faced and Flip Front helmets. For open
helmets it is also available a specific optional microphone cod. C1253.
Wired microphone
Using the Velcro/adhesive strip, place the microphone inside the helmet in
front of your mouth. This type of microphone is more suited for Full Faced
helmets. The mini connector on the microphone allows you choose the mi-
crophone that best suits the helmet you are using.
Description of the Slide-in mounting kit
The Midland BTMESH can be fixed onto the helmet, installing the slide-in
mounting kit in two dierent ways: By either using the plate with bi-adhesive
strip, or the screw plate. These methods allow you to safely “fix” the BTMESH
unit onto your helmet and to remove it at any time in order to recharge or
store it.
Plate with bi-adhesive strip
The Bi-adhesive plate is already assembled on the slide-in mounting kit.
Clean the application area on the helmet surface, fold the two little wings to
better stick to the curved surface of the helmet, remove the bi-adhesive film
and place the fixing plate on the left side of the helmet by keeping it contact
with the surface for a few seconds.
Screw Clamp
Step 1. remove the bi-adhesive plate from the slide mount using the allen
wrench included in the box. Remember to keep the two screws.
Step 2. Tighten the screw plate to the slide-in mounting kit with the two pro-
vided screws.

Step 3.Then, tighten more the two screws in order to firmly fix the clamp in
place on the left side of the helmet.
If necessary, you can use also the rubber plate in order to have more grip for
the screw clamp. Just use the two short screw to fix the rubber plate on the
slide-in mount and tighten the screw plate again.
Fitting and removing your Midland BTMESH
The BTMESH can be easily fitted onto the helmet by sliding it downwards on
the sliding mounting kit. BTMESH is maintained in position thanks to the fixing
clip located on the upper section (A).
To detach the BTMESH, simply press the fixing clip and push the unit upwards.
Switching ON and OFF your Midland BTMESH
Switching the unit on:
Press and hold “Middle” button for approximately 3 seconds until the BLUE
indicator lights.
Switching the unit o:
Press and hold both “Middle” and “Backward” buttons together for approxi-
mately 3 seconds until the RED indicator flashes 3 times, thus lessening the
chances that you might turn o the unit accidentally (especially whilst wearing
gloves).
Operative “mode”
The BTMESH can operate in three main “modes”: Mesh, Phone and FM Ra-
dio.
The 3 multi function buttons can have dierent functionality depending on
which mode the unit is at that moment.
›In “Mesh mode” the three buttons let you manage the Mesh and Intercom
communications between driver and passenger or bike to bike.
›In “Phone mode” you can manage your Bluetooth mobile phone to place/
answer a phone call or to listen to the music. Please use your phone respon-
sibly and safely.
›In “FM Radio mode” you can listen to your favourite radio station in stereo,
seek for a specific radio station and save it (6 memories are available).

›You can switch (toggle) from one mode to the other simply pressing the
Middle button for 3 seconds. A voice announcement will tell in which mode
you are on.
The toggle sequence is the following:
›Mesh mode
›FM Radio
›Phone mode (if a phone has been paired)
Every time you turn on the unit, the default mode is the latest mode.
The Phone mode is avalaible only if it was previously paired to a phone.
If you need to know in which mode the unit currently is, just short press the
“Volume + “ and “Volume –” button together. A voice announcement will tell
you the current mode.
Maximum Distance
You can reach 1.4 Km Mesh distance if you are in line of sight without ob-
structions and interferences (the riders must be always in sight).
If the “Mesh clear audio” feature is enabled, you can have better audio quality
but the maximum distance will be reduced.
Adjusting the volume
Your Midland BTMESH uses AGC technology, which automatically adjusts
the listening volume in relation to background noises.
However, it is also possible to manually adjust the volume by means of the
“Volume +” and “Volume -”buttons.
The volume setting is indipendent for each audio source: intercom, stereo mu-
sic, phone call, FM radio.
Attention: volume can be adjusted only when an audio connection is active.
Set up of the AGC system
To adjust the sensitivity of the AGC system you can use the ”BT UPDATER”
Pc Software or the smartphone “BT SET-APP” application. You can choose
dierent set up based on your motorbike type (naked, touring, sport) or if you
are riding as a passenger. You can disable the AGC system pressing “Volume
+” and “Volume -” together for 3 sec.
BTMESH group communication mode
Midland BTMESH allows two dierent group comunication modes: “Mesh
Public group” and “Mesh Private group”.
Mesh Public group
This is the default setting and allows the possibility to talk with any BTMESH
unit just out of the box. No special pairing is required.
Here is an example of the buttons main functionality based on the mode you are on.

Mesh Private group
This is a special setting that allows the possibility to talk only with specific
BTMESH unit that share the same “encryption code”. This setting requires a
pairing procedure
Start a Midland BTMESH “Public Group” communication
The two units supplied in the same Midland BTMESH box, are already ready
to use with Mesh communication on the Middle button, this means you don’t
need to perform any procedure.
If the devices are not part of the same kit, or the units have been purchased
separately, you need only to set the correct ID number in order to use them.
Midland BTMESH setup
There is no need to perform a pairing procedure to start a Mesh communica-
tion, you only need to be sure that each unit has a dierent ID number.
Follow this simple procedure:
1. Turn on the unit.
2. Be sure to be in Mesh mode
3. Press shortly together VOL+ and VOL- buttons
4. You will hear a voice telling you “Mesh” and your ID number.
5. Now you have 5 sec to press Vol+ or Vol - to change the number from 1 to
10 (the LED light will flash Green color).
6. Change each ID number and be sure that all users in the group have die-
rent ID number
Now you can start the Mesh communication
How to open the Mesh communication
To use the Mesh feature, be sure that all units have a dierent ID number, then
you need to press short the MIDDLE button .
You will hear the voice “Mesh on” and the LED light will flash GREEN and
BLU. When the Mesh feature is active you can talk with all other units in
range that have the Mesh active as well.
How to close the Mesh communication
Just press again the MIDDLE button and the mesh communication will be
closed (a double beep sound will confirm) a voice will tell “Mesh disable”.
Attention: In order to communicate in Mesh mode, each user needs to open the
Mesh on his own unit. If the Mesh communication is closed, it is not possible for
the other users of the group to talk to you until you reopen it again.
BT Mesh audio quality
The “Mesh clear audio mode” feature allows you to improve the audio quality
during the Mesh communication. Thanks to this feature you will have a very
clean communication (no glitch) but the maximum distance between the first
and last rider will be reduced. By default this feature is not active, to give the
maximum distance possible.
Enable/Disable “Mesh clear audio mode”
Press FORWARD and BACKWARD together in Mesh mode, the voice will
tell you “Mesh clear audio on”. Press FORWARD and BACKWARD together
again, the voice will tell you “Mesh clear audio disable”.
Attention: All the units in a Mesh group must have the same “Mesh clear audio”
setting, in order to talk to eachother.
BTMESH Guest
In addition to the 10 people talking in a Mesh open group, it is possible to add
an unlimited number of BTMESH users only in listening mode (Guest user).
You can follow the same procedure explained in the “BTMESH Setup” and
instead of choosing one of the ten available numbers, you must choose “Mesh
guest”. The voice “Mesh guest” is available before the number 1 or after the
number 10.
Start a Midland BTMESH “Private Group” communication
If you want to be sure that nobody else will enter the Mesh group communica-
tion, you need to follow a specific pairing procedure to exchange an encrypting
key to all units in the group.
As first step you need to define one unit as “Master”. This is the unit that will
generate the “key” and distribute it to all other user of the group.
It is not important which is the master unit , it can be any unit in the group.
After the pairing procedure, all units will share the same “key”, that means
in case you need to add another unit to the Private group, you don’t need to

EN
8www.midlandeurope.com
remember who was the master, just take one unit of the group, consider it as a
Master and repeat the procedure.
1. Turn o all units of the group
2. On the “Master” unit, press and hold down the middle button about 7 sec.,
until the Red light is on permanently.
3. On the “Master” unit press for 6 seconds the “Middle” button, the GREEN
lights will flash SLOWLY
4. Now take all the other unit of the group, press and hold down the middle
button about 7 sec., until the Red light is on permanently
5. Press for 3 seconds the “Middle” button, the GREEN and BLU lights will
flash FAST
6. The Master unit and all other units in range (10m distance) will now exchan-
ge the “key” . When the procedure is finished, the user unit will exit the
pairing mode and go back to RED light. If you have no other pairing to do
(like phone or GPS) you can make a double click on the Middle button to
exit and go to working mode (blu LED flashing).
7. The master unit will keep flashing green, in case other units need to be pai-
red
8. If no more unit need the pairing, just make a double click on the Master unit
to exit the pairing procedure, the RED light will be on permanently. Make
a double click again on the Middle button to exit and go to working mode
(blue LED flashing).
When the pairing procedure is finished and the Private group is created, there
is no need of the “Master” unit anymore, so it can be part of the group or
missing (turned o) and the Private goup can still work.
All units in the “Private” group share the same “key” and they can talk to-
gether. Other units “out of the box” can NOT be part of this “Private” group
unless you pair that unit against a “Master” unit. For example if you have a
new unit that needs to be part of an existing “Private” group, just take one unit
from the Private group, consider it as a “Master” unit and perform the same
pairing procedure explained above only with the new unit. No need to make
the pairing procedure again with all units in the group.
When in Private group mode, you must still be sure that all the unit have die-
rent ID number. In addition you can always have as many “Guest” user as you
want also in Private group.
Toogle between “Public” group and “Private” group
Even if the unit has been part of a “Private” group, it is always possible to toggle
between “Private” and “Public” group modes.
›Be sure you are in Mesh mode
›Press FWD and MIDDLE buttons together
›The voice will tell you “ Public group
›Press again FWD and MIDDLE buttons together
›The voice will tell you “ Private group”
When the unit is in “Public group”, the LED light flash BLUE and GREEN
When the unit is in “Private group”, the LED light flash RED and GREEN
Attention: If one unit is in Private group and the other is in Public group, they can
not talk together. Be sure that both of them are in “Public group” mode or both in
“Private group” mode (but from the same master pairing). If you are not sure if you
are in Private or Public group mode, just press together VOL+ and VOL- button,
first you will hear the ID number and after 5 sec. you will hear the voice “Private
group” in case the unit is in “private “ mode, or you will have no additional voice
announcement in case the unit is in “Public group” mode.
Reset the “Encryption” key
Normally there is no need to delete (reset) the encryption key because if you
don’t need the “Private group” anymore, just toggle to “Public” group mode as
explained above.
In the moment you start a new pairing for a Private group with a Master unit,
the old key will be used or in case you are using a new Master unit a new key
will be generated and replaced in all units.
Anyway if you want to delete the Encryption key, for example because you
have several units and you are not sure which “Encryption” key they have, you
must perform a reset and clean up the encryption key stored in the unit:
1. Turn o the unit
2. Press and hold down the middle button about 7 sec., until the Red light is
on permanently.
3. Now press the FWD and BWD buttons toogether for 3 seconds, the GRE-
EN lights will turn on steady and then go back to RED light.

EN
www.midlandeurope.com 9
4. Now the “Encryption” key is deleted and only the Public mode is availabe
5. Make a double click on the Middle button to exit and go to working mode
(blue LED flashing).
Bluetooth Intercom compatibility
The BTMESH is compatible with Bluetooth Midland Intercom devices.
One Midland BTMESH unit can be paired to maximum two other Midland BT
units and one Universal Intercom (that means in total 3 units via Bluetooth).
Midland intercom
(not BTMESH)

For example you can have all the Mesh group active on the MIDDLE button
and at the same time you can have your passenger paired via Bluetooth to the
BACKWARD button and talk to all of them together.
Pair the Midland BTMESH to another Midland BT via Bluetooth
To pair the Midland BTMESH to another Midland BT unit, you must first enter
the setup mode:
1. Turn o the unit
2. On the BTMESH press and hold down the middle button about 7 sec., until
the Red light is on permanently.
3. Now press one of the two buttons (Forward or Backward) for 3 seconds
depending on which button you would like use to open the intercom to the
other unit. The Blue and Red lights will flash.
4. On the other Midland BT unit repeat the same procedure using any button
available depending on the model (Forward, Middle or Backward)
5. When successfully paired, each unit will have the Blue light on for one se-
cond and then go back to the setup mode (Red light always on).
6. Now the unit is ready for another pairing procedure, and you can pair
another Midland BT unit following the same procedure, but using a die-
rent button.
If you don’t have more devices to pair, you must exit the setup mode before
you can use the units:
› Double click on the Middle button, the Red light will turn o and the Blue
light will start flashing. You can use now your Midland unit
How to use the Bluetooth Intercom
To use the intercom feature, be sure that all units are turned on and correctly
paired together.
Manual activation in Bluetooth Intercom communication
When in “Mesh Mode” press the button corresponding to the unit you would
like to communicate with (Forward and Backward buttons).
.After some seconds the intercom communication will open. The communi-
cation remains active until you press again the same button. To quickly open
the intercom to another person, just press the button corresponding to the
other unit, the previous intercom will be automatically closed and the new
connection will be open (see Table A).
Voice activation (VOX)
The VOX feature allows you to open the Intercom communication simply by
saying something. You can use a simple word like “Intercom” or “Hello Mi-
dland” and when the voice will be detected, you will hear the announcement
“VOX”.
After some seconds the communication will be opened and will remain active
for the time you are talking. If there is no conversation the intercom will be
closed after 40 seconds. If needed you can close the intercom manually wi-
thout waiting 40 seconds (just press the Backward button).
Attention: The Voice activation (VOX) can open the intercom communication

EN
10 www.midlandeurope.com
only to the unit that was paired with the BACKWARD button and only if the Mesh
is not open.
If needed, you can disable the VOX feature simply by pressing the
BACKWARD button for 7 sec. A voice announcement will advise you when
the VOX is disabled. To turn the VOX on again, just press the same button and
a voice announcement will advise you that the VOX is now active. This setting
is remembered also if you turn o the unit.
Hint: this feature is very useful when you have a Passenger that has a Midland
Bluetooth intercom unit (not a BTMESH) and you like to talk to this person
without the need to press a button to open the communication.
Unit already busy in a conversation
If you try to open a Bluetooth intercom connection to another person that is
already talking with someone else (or is in a middle of a phone conversation),
you will hear a “busy” double beep tone. Just wait sometime and try again,
maybe this time the “line” is not busy.
The person who is called, will be advised that someone is trying to call and will
hear a voice announcement with the number of the button from which the
request is coming.
In this way as soon as the first conversation is over, the person can easily con-
tact the caller by opening the intercom of the specific button number (indica-
ted by the voice announcement).
Mesh group and Bluetooth Intercom together
When you have a Mesh unit connected to the Passenger Midland BT unit via
Bluetooth, normally the Mesh communication can not be opened together
with the Bluetooth Intercom communication.
Thanks to the “Bridge” function, it is possible to make the Bluetooth Intercom
user part of the Mesh group and allow all of them to talk together.
The BTMESH units that have the Midland BT connected, act as a “bridge”
between Bluetooth and Mesh communication.

Maybe it will be necessary to press the redial button two times, depending on
the model of the not Midland intercom.
Attention: In order to use the “Universal Intercom” feature the pairing on the
other unit must be done as a phone. The other intercom (not Midland brand) will
be able to use a phone only if two phones are supported.
You can pair also a Midland unit as Universal Intercom, that means the pairing
must be done as a phone (one unit use the Universal Intercom procedure and the
other unit use the pairing to “Phone” procedure).
Pairing the Midland BTMESH to phone and GPS navigator

Bridge and Background feature
BT Mesh has two specific features to manage the Bluetooth audio and the
Mesh audio when are both open together:
›BRIDGE (for Mesh +Intercom)
This feature , when on, allows to “mix” the Bluetooth audio from the In-
tercom connection or from the VOL - and VOL+ together with the audio
from the Mesh group. For example, when enabled, you can have the Pas-
senger (that is connected to the Driver via Bluetooth), part of the same
Mesh group of the Driver. The driver is a “bridge” between the Mesh group
and the Bluetooth intercon connection to the passenger.
›BACKGROUND (only for Bluetooth intercom)
This feature allow to have the audio from the Bluetooth device paired on
Vol-,, in background to the Bluetooth intercom.
Connection on VOL+
›Mesh group: All devices paired to “Volume +” button are always active in
background during the Mesh communication. It is possible to share only
the MONO audio from the “Volume +” to all the Mesh group, depending
on the setting of “Bridge” feature. A2DP (stereo) audio from Volume + can
not be shared with Mesh group.
›Bluetooth Intercom: All devices paired to “Volume +” button has higher
priority over the Bluetooth Intercom communication and will interrupt all
the other communication (like Intercom, FM Radio and Music).
