Introduction
Wearing head protection when riding motorized
vehicles is an important safety precaution and
cannot be completely covered in this user guide.
Make sure to read and fully understand this
user guide before riding and wearing your SIGI
helmet. Read and understand the warning label
attached to the top lining on the inside of your
helmet. Keep this manual handy for periodic
review and in case any questions arise.
Your helmet
Your SIGI helmet cannot eliminate injuries, but
will reduce the risk of serious injury in case of
an accident. A helmet cannot protect the rider
from all injuries, especially those to the neck
and spine, or any injuries to the areas that the
helmet does not cover. Depending on the severity
of the accident, the helmet may not even protect
the areas that are covered by it. Your helmet is
made from energy absorbing materials, which
will compact if the impact is strong enough. If
the impact is slight, the materials will remain in
their original shape. The materials do not absorb
all energy from the impact. Some of the energy
travels to the head and brain, and if great enough
will result in permanent injury or death. Due to
the wide variety of accident types and intensities,
it is difficult to specify which accidents your
helmet will provide adequate protection from.

SIGI Helmets 5
SIGI offers a range of helmet classes at different
price points and with different features.
SIGI helmets meet and exceed the Canadian
Transportation Act (‘DOT safety standard’). SIGI
recommends purchasing a helmet that best
suits your needs and offers maximum impact
protection for your specific activity.
Wearing your helmet
When putting on your SIGI helmet, take the
helmet by the chinstraps, gently spreading them
outwards as you slide the helmet over your head.
If the helmet fits on your head without you
pulling on the straps, the helmet is oversized and
must not be worn. To tighten the straps (shown
below in Figure 1), take the loose end of the
strap and thread it through the double-D rings.
When threaded through the rings, pull on the
end until the strap feels snug against your throat.
Make sure that before you ride, the chinstrap is
well back against your throat.
Warning
Wearing the chinstrap improperly will prevent
the helmet from staying on in certain accidents,
resulting in serious injury or death. Even a well
designed and a well-secured helmet can come off
in some accidents. Always make sure to wear the
chinstrap properly, and always stay fully alert on
the road.

EN
Warning
Do not wear the chinstrap on the tip of your chin
and do not use a chin cup at any time. Failing
to properly wear the chinstrap may result in the
helmet coming off and may result in serious
injury or death.
Fitting
Your helmet must fit properly in order to get the
most protection. Wearing an improperly fastened,
or oversized helmet will increase the chances
of it coming off in an accident. Do not wear a
helmet that feels too tight or too loose on your
head. Make sure to install the proper size SIGI-
FIT lining, which will make sure the helmet fits
you right.

SIGI Helmets
Before riding, make sure that your helmet feels
snug in all areas of your head, which the helmet
comes in contact with. The helmet must pass the
two inspection tests below:
1) Start by closing your mouth and fastening
your chinstrap tight enough that it gets
uncomfortable to open your mouth. Move the
helmet up and down and from side to side with
both of your palms. If your scalp does not move
with the liner of the helmet, the helmet does
not fit right and must not be worn.
2) Start by making sure that the chinstrap is
securely tightened under your chin. Use your
hand to grab the helmet in the rear and at
the base, and try to pull the helmet off by
pulling it forwards. Conduct an identical
procedure, but now try to pull the helmet off
by pulling it backwards. If you manage to pull
the helmet off your head, the helmet is not the
right size and must not be worn. When riding,
periodically check your chinstrap to make
sure it is properly tightened, and does not
come undone. If you find the chinstrap undone
or loose, safely stop your vehicle and
re-tighten the chinstrap. For any questions or
concerns, please call our customer service
center at 1-877-528-3772 or go to:
www.sigi-helmets.com
Warning

EN
Wearing an oversized or undersized helmet could
lead to serious injury or death. Make sure to
follow all of the instructions, procedures, and
steps listed in this manual.
Full Face Helmets
When fitting a full face helmet, make sure to
level your eyes with the eye opening of the
helmet, and adjust the chinstraps to ensure
maximum visibility in all directions: upward,
downward, left, and right. Always wear your
helmet in the adjusted position.
Protect Your Eyes
When riding, always make sure to wear eye
protection such as a face shield or goggles. Every
SIGI helmet is designed for use in conjunction
with eye protection. Certain SIGI helmet models
are not equipped with built-in eye protection,
making it your responsibility to purchase the
proper equipment. If you have a tinted face
shield, avoid wearing it at night, as it will greatly
reduce your visibility. The same applies to
scratched lenses, which must not be worn and
must get replaced. Cleaning your face shield and/
or lens with petroleum products and any other
solvents may impair the optical properties and
reduce the mechanical strength of the materials.
Replacement face shields and lenses are

available upon request by calling 1-877-528-
3772 or by visiting www.sigi-helmets.com
Field of view
Before riding, check to see that you have a good
field of view when wearing your helmet with and
without eye protection. When helmets are used
in conjunction with eye protection, your field of
view will be restricted. Your motorcycle or ATV
must have side mirrors installed in order to give
you better peripheral vision when traveling. Side
mirrors will fill in for that limited field of view,
preventing you from twisting your head from
side to side to check for traffic or obstacles. It is
strictly your responsibility to assure that you have
an adequate field of view before riding. It is also
your responsibility to assure the adequacy of your
own vision before using SIGI helmets.
Warning
Never use a helmet or eye protection, which
restricts your vision, preventing you from safely
operating your vehicle
Hearing
Proper hearing has proven to be very important
when traveling on the road. A well-designed full-
face, or open-face helmet will ensure that you
hear the sirens of emergency vehicles as well
as the vehicles around you. Many riders prefer
their ears to be exposed. Ensure that your helmet

EN
provides the comfort that you are accustomed to.
Accessories
When purchasing accessories, purchase only
those manufactured by SIGI. Do not use third
party accessories as doing so will put your safety
at risk and may void your warranty
Warning
Do not attach anything to the outside of your
helmet as the attached objects may increase
the level of injury in an accident. Mounting
anything on the inside of your helmet will turn
the attached objects into projectiles, greatly
increasing risk of serious injury in an accident.
Do not wear any kind of headgear such as
bandanas, caps, or beanies under your helmet.
Avoid dropping your helmet, as this will internally
damage it, preventing you from noticing any
visible damage. Do not wear a dropped helmet.
Maintenance
Your SIGI helmet must be properly maintained
and treated with care. It is built from durable,
energy absorbing materials, which are designed
to crush, deform, and fracture upon impact.
Do not take the durability of your helmet for
granted and always treat it as if it were fragile.
This will ensure that your helmet will react to
its full potential when protecting your head in

an accident. Follow the easy maintenance rules
below, and your SIGI helmet will give you years of
good service.
When cleaning the outside of your helmet, use
mild soap and water to clean off any dirt or
debris. When cleaning the interior of the helmet,
also use mild soap and water. The SIGI-FIT
liner pads are easily removable and are washing
machine safe. Wash with cold water and a mild
detergent and do not use fabric softeners. Allow
the pads to air dry for a minimum of 5 hours.
To get rid of any unwanted odors, rinse with a
solution of bicarbonate of soda and water. When
drying, never use an oven or a high-heat device,
which may produce temperatures in excess of
51ºC, as the high heat will damage the outer and
inner linings of the helmet. Never use chemical
compound soaps, as the chemicals used in many
of those products are harmful to the outer shell
of your helmet, potentially causing premature
fracturing in an accident. Avoid painting or
decorating your helmet with decals, stickers
or tape, as this will also damage the helmet.
Prevent your helmet from coming in contact with
gasoline or other petroleum products, as the
chemical will damage the helmet linings.
SIGI-FIT Liner Removal (3 pieces)

EN
1) Turn helmet upside down and locate three
black tabs
2) Lift up one tab at a time and carefully pull
the liner out
3) Pull on the back of the liner to release the

3) Air dry (SIGI-FIT LINERS ARE NOT
MACHINE DRYABLE)
Notice
Cruiser helmets use different SIGI-FIT liners that
are not removable.
Storage
Store your SIGI helmet away from heat, moisture,
small children and pets. Do not let your helmet
hang off of your vehicle. Store your helmet in a
cool, dry place, in the included carrying pouch
to prevent dust and debris from building up.
Avoid temperatures of 51ºC or higher, as such
temperatures will overheat and damage your
helmet. Avoid leaving your helmet inside your car
on hot summer days, as temperatures inside may
increase over the safe limit.
Painting
Do not manually paint your SIGI helmet as the
chemicals and/or paint solvents may seriously
damage the helmet linings. SIGI helmets dose
not recommend having your helmet painted by
anyone other than the manufacturer.
Inspection
The most crucial protection linings are hidden
underneath the outer lining of the helmet, and
therefore any damage to those linings will not
be visible. Replace or return the helmet to SIGI

EN
for a free inspection. After inspection, SIGI will
send you your helmet back along with a written
report. Due to national helmet standards, helmet
manufacturers, including SIGI, are restricted
from selling helmet parts excluding face shields.
It is good practice to replace your helmet every
five years. Even if you did not suffer an accident,
replace your old helmet with a new one. The
constant evolution of materials and assembly
methods allow for lighter, stronger and safer
helmets.
Five Year Limited Warranty
SIGI provides a 1-YEAR SIGI LIMITED
WARRANTY against defects in material or
workmanship from the date of purchase on all
new SIGI helmets and accessories. During the
warranty period, SIGI may provide replacement
parts and helmets at no charge as per SIGI
discretion. This warranty does not cover normal
wear items or damage caused due to accidents,
or simple neglect or misuse of the product.
SIGI’s liability under this warranty shall not
exceed the purchase price of the helmet and
appropriate compensation will be determined
should SIGI deem it necessary.
Any modifications to any part of the helmet,
unless specified in the User guide will
immediately void the SIGI LIMITED WARRANTY.

This includes application of custom decals or paint
and modifications to the outer shell of the helmet. If
any in-store warranties or extended protection plans
provided by a third party are claimed before the SIGI
LIMITED WARRANTY period is over, the SIGI product
is no longer subject to the terms and conditions of
the SIGI LIMTED WARRANTY and the owner relieves
SIGI of any responsibility to provide service under
the terms and conditions of the SIGI LIMTITED
WARRANTY.
To make a claim under the SIGI LIMITED
WARRANTY, contact SIGI helmets through the online
warranty claim section, or mail your receipts and
the helmet in its original packaging, at your own
expense, to SIGI at:

Introduction

ajustement.
