1.2. Designated uses
The eGROSS pro-x/eGROSS is an ergonomic histopathology work station dedicated to the preparation and
cutting of pieces. The table is equipped with a ventilation unit and various optional parts, as defined in this
manual.
The eGROSS pro-x comes equipped with a camera with MacroPATH software.
The MacroPATH has been designed to obtain images of histological samples, as well to ensure their complete,
safe and reliable handling.
The system has been conceived for laboratory use and can therefore withstand the harshest laboratory
conditions (indoor use only).
1.3. Technical specifications
eGROSS pro-x

The MacroPATH's measurement function is strictly linked to the calibration performed by
the operator, and is not controlled by the unit's software. For this reason, the measurements
of the sample obtained with MacroPATH CAN NOT be taken into account for diagnostic
purposes. These values are purely indicative.
In fact, a ruler must be placed near the sample (see the image below) or else a gauge must be used
to obtain a diagnostic value for the growth of the tumour, the extent of the lesion, etc.
The system must be calibrated in order to perform measurements with MacroPATH (please refer to chapter
3 for the calibration procedure).
Power supply line needs to have a ground connection (Class I device).
Power line protection:
115V version: Miniature circuit breaker curve C, 15A, residual current device: 30mA.
230V version: Miniature circuit breaker curve C, 10A, residual current device: 30mA.

2. eGROSS pro-x/ eGROSS INSTALLATION
This chapter and the following chapters describe all the functions of the eGROSS pro-x and eGROSS units.
The eGROSS instrument has all the same functions as the eGROSS pro-x unit, with the exception of those
relating to the PC and the camera, as shown in the following images.
eGROSS pro-x eGROSS
The Milestone eGROSS pro-x/eGROSS unit is a precision instrument that must be unpacked and installed
with the utmost care.
Make sure that the unit is at level and vibration free and not in contact with flammable material.
Make sure that the unit has not been placed against any lateral surfaces that might limit the intake/discharge
of cooling air.
Make sure the unit is not exposed to direct currents of air on the work surface (e.g. air conditioners, fans,
windows, etc.) that could alter the system of flows.
