The embedded scanner has a TTL-level RS-232 interface to communicate with a host. RTS and CTS
are only used for hardware flow control and should be leaved unconnected or tied to VCC by 100K Ohm
resistors when they are not used.

Note:
1) The scan window is transparent. (Recommended)
2) The scan window should be high transparent & non-colored glass.
3) If the thickness of the scan window is less than 3 mm, then different thickness of the scan window will not effect
the performance of the scanner.

2-6 Operation of Embedded Scanner
The following cases demonstrate how a host operates an embedded scanner quickly and easily.
2-6-1 Beep
1) Host sends a <BEL> (0x07) character.
2) After receiving <BEL> character, Embedded Scanner returns a <BEL> character and an <ACK>
(0x06) character, and then Embedded Scanner beeps.

2-6-2 Request revision
1) Host sends a Firmware Version list command (0x16, 0x4D, 0x0D, 0x25, 0x25, 0x25, 0x56,
0x45, 0x52, 0x2E).
2) After receiving the command, Embedded Scanner responds with firmware version.

2-6-3 Decode by pulling down pin TRIG
1) Host pulls down pin TRIG.
2) Then Embedded Scanner turns on LED illumination and starts decode. The LED illumination will
be turned off if either Scan standby duration expires or Embedded Scanner succeeds in
decoding.
TRIG

13
2-6-4 Decode by commands
1) Host sends a command (0x16, 0x4D, 0x0D, 0x30, 0x34, 0x30, 0x31, 0x44, 0x30, 0x35, 0x2E) to
set Scan mode to Host.
2) Then Embedded Scanner responses with the received command and a <ACK> (0x06) character,
and then change Scan mode to Host.
3) After receiving the <ACK> character, Host sends a START_DECODE command (0x16, 0x54,
0x0D).
4) Embedded Scanner turns on LED illumination to decode. The LED illumination will be turned off if
either Scan standby duration expires or Embedded Scanner succeeds in decoding. A
STOP_DECODE command (0x16, 0x55, 0x0D) can end decode process.

3 Parameter menus
3-1 Introduction
This section describes the programmable parameters, to change the parameter values.
Refer to 3-2 Example 1: Single-parameter setting by scanning 1D barcodes and 3-3 Example 2:
Multiple-parameter setting by scanning a QR code barcode, scan the appropriate barcodes
included in this section, The new values replace the existing values.
To set the new values as custom default settings, scan the Write to Custom Defaults barcode.
The factory default settings or custom default settings can be recalled by scanning appropriate
barcodes, refer to 10 Return default parameters & firmware version.
Send parameters through the TTL-level RS-232 or USB virtual COM interface. Instructions of
programming and querying the embedded scanner are described in 4-1 Programming command
syntax.
