Intended Use
The MIR Smart One spirometer is intended to be used as an over-the-counter device by a
patient under the prescribed use of a physician. The equipment is intended to test lung
function and can perform tests in adult and pediatric patients greater than 5 years.
The Smart One spirometer has been designed for use directly by the patient to monitor her/
his physical conditions at home.
Warnings
A more complete listing of warnings are found in the Instructions for use.
The disposable turbine is made of plastic with paper mouthpiece and its disposal after use
should adhere to the local regulations and norms in force.
The accuracy of the reusable turbine can only be guaranteed if it has been cleaned in the
correct manner and is free from foreign bodies. Weekly cleaning should only be
done when the equipment is for personal use and will only be used by one patient. The
cleaning of the turbine should be performed according to the instructions contained in
this User’s Manual.

your home use. The tests you complete will help you and your physician see how well
your lungs function.

Please make sure that the turbine is all the way in and twisted to the right in the locked
position and that the batteries are tested before use.

The spirometry results can then be analyzed by a clinician and findings will follow.

Cleaning
1. Rotate the turbine and mouthpiece
counterclockwise to separate it from
handheld unit
2. Mix ¾ cup of Clorox™ bleach (7.5%) in one
quart of water.
Place turbine in solution
Place mouthpiece in warm water
3. Shake the turbine so as to remove any
impurities for at least 1 minute and the
mouthpiece for 2-3 minutes
4. Leave the turbine and the mouthpiece
immersed for 15 minutes.
5. Rinse turbine and mouthpiece in clean
water for 1 minute
Warning. Do not place turbine in running
water. It may damage the unit
6. Shake off the excess water from the
turbine and let it dry. Position the turbine
and the mouthpiece vertically on a dry
surface.
Clean the electronic unit with a damp cloth from the same Clorox dilution.
DO NOT SUBMERGE THE DEVICE. Let the device dry, then clean the device with a damp
cloth.
