CPLEASE READ THOROUGHLY BEFORE COMMENCING INSTALLATION AS AN INCOR-
RECT INSTALLATION COULD BE DANGEROUS.
CDO NOT USE THIS CHILD SEAT IN PASSENGER SEATS EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS.
CThis child seat must only be installed in a forward facing position in passenger
seats.
Do not use on side facing or rear facing seats.
CNever use this child seat without fastening the childs’ harness correctly, and never
attempt to use it without fastening it into the car as described in these instructions.
CDo not add to or modify the seat in any way.
CIn the event of an emergency it is important that the child can be released quickly.
This means that the buckle is not fully tamperproof and so your child must be taught
never to play with the buckle.
CDo not leave your child unattended in the seat at any time.
CIt is recommended that this car seat should be changed when it has been sub-
jected to violent stresses in an accident or has become badly worn.
Periodically inspect the harness for wear, paying particular attention to the attach-
ment points, stitching and adjusting devices.
CEnsure that no part of the seat is trapped in a door or folding seat. If your car has a
folding rear seat, ensure that it is correctly latched in the upright position.
CCar interiors can become very hot when in direct sunlight, it is therefore recom-
mended that the child seat is covered when not in use.This prevents components,
particularly those attached to the child seat, becoming hot and burning the child.
CLuggage and other heavy or sharp objects should be secured in the car. Loose
objects are liable to cause injury in the event of an accident.
CThe safest seating position for a child car seat is on the rear seat of a vehicle.

This child seat must only be installed in a forward facing position.
This seat is classied as:
Group 1 for children weighing from 9kg to 18kg (9 months - 4 years approx.)
Group 2 for children weighing from 15kg to 25kg (4 - 6 years approx.)
Group 3 for children weighing from 22kg to 36kg (4 - 11 years approx.)

This child seat is approved to ECE R44.04 and is ONLY suitable for use with a 3 point
lap and diagonal seat belt, approved to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or other equivalent
safety standards.
front seat
Anyone, especially children, travelling in the front seat of a car must be properly re-
strained. Children under three years must use a suitable approved restraint designed
for their weight.
rear seat
All adults and children must use seat belts or child restraints where they are tted in the
rear of a car and are available for use.
If the appropriate restraint is not available, children from 3 years must wear an adult
seat belt if available.

CIn an emergency your child can be released quickly by pressing the red button on
the harness buckle.
CThis user guide should be stored under the seat cover of the base.
CWhen the child seat is not in use, it is recommended that it is fastened into the car
with a seat belt to avoid being thrown about in the event of an accident.
CIf you travel with passengers using both the front and rear seats, the lighter oc-
cupants should be in the rear seats and the heavier occupants in the front of the
vehicle.When a child is in the front seat, the lighter passenger should be behind the
child.
CDo not allow the child seat to come into contact with corrosive substances e.g. bat-
tery acid.

Securing the harness

Place the left hand harness connector behind the
right hand one. They should slot together neatly.
Push the harness ends into the hole in the buckle
at the top of the crotch strap. You will hear and feel
a ‘CLICK’ when it is secure. Check by attempting
to remove the connectors by pulling the webbing
above and below the buckle. Periodically check
that your child has not released the buckle. (To
release the harness, press the red button down.)

Pull gently on the harness adjuster to take up any
slack.
A loose harness is dangerous, so it should be
checked every time the seat is used.
It is recommended that there is just enough room
to insert two ngers between the shoulder straps
and the childs’ chest.

If the harness is too tight, loosen it by rst pressing
the tab underneath the front of the seat, and then
pulling both straps, as shown.
Do not pull on the shoulder pads, as these are
xed in length.

Adjusting the shoulder height

The harness has 3 height positions.
The straps should go into the slots nearest to the
top of your child’s shoulders.
IMPORTANT
If your child’s shoulders are between two pairs
of slots, always use the higher position.
Release the head cushion support by undoing the
knot at the rear of backrest.

Slide the head cushion support down to have a
better access to the shoulder straps.

To adjust the shoulder straps of the harness, re-
move one of the shoulder straps from the metal
retaining yoke located at the back of the seat.
Leave the other one in place for reference.

Pull the shoulder strap through the harness slot in
the shell, cover and head support cushion, then
pull through the shoulder pad.

Pull the shoulder pad back through harness slot
in head support cushion, cover and shell, and re-
locate to desired harness slot.

Feed the shoulder strap back through the
shoulder pad, then through the same slot,
and re-attach to metal yoke at rear. Repeat
the same prodedure for the shoulder strap
and pad on the other side. Make sure there
are no kinks or twists in the straps.

Replace the head cushion support:
the cords should be routed in the slots that are
just above the shoulder straps. (Except when
shoulder straps are at the highest position, the
cords of head support cushion should be guided
in the same slots.)

WARNING:
Do not use this child seat in passenger seats tted with airbags.
Do not use on rear-facing or side-facing vehicle seats.
To set up for use to 9 to 18 kg
g 1
Place the child’s car seat on a passenger seat
with a 3 point seat belt.
Make sure the child seat is facing towards the
front of the car.

Pull the lap and diagonal sections of the car seat
until fully extended.
Guide the seat belt around the side panel of the
car seat making sure that the lap belt is below the
arm rest of the seat base.

Then feed both lap and diagonal belt into the
side slot, around the plastic back panel (over the
harness) and back through the opposite slot.
Pull the belt around the seat and fasten in the nor-
mal way making sure that the lap section is be-
low the arm rest and the diagonal section goes
through the red guide. Make sure that there are
no kinks or twists in the car seat belt.

Put your knee on the child seat to push it right
down into the car seat.
You should then pull upwards simultaneously on
both the lap and diagonal belts.
Your car seat should now be xed securely.
To check that the seat is xed securely, tug the top
of the shoulder straps there should be little or no
forwards movement.

To set up for use to 15 to 25 kg

Your child will be secured using the vehicle’s seat
belt.
It will therefore be necessary to remove the har-
ness tted to the child seat before use.
Remove the shoulder straps from the metal yoke.
Pull the shoulder straps through the shoulder
pads, then through the buckle connectors and
through the side slots in plastic base and cover.

Remove the shoulder straps from the shell and
cover.
Pull the harness adjuster until the metal yoke is
tight against the back of the seat base.

The end of the harness adjuster which is left can
be fed back behind the cover for storage for fu-
ture use.

Remove the crotch strap by twisting and feeding
the metal retaining keeper through the BOTTOM
of the child seat and up through the seat’s up-
holstery.

Seat belt adjuster guide for diagonal belt adjust-
ment: the purpose of this guide is to position the
diagonal belt securely on the child’s shoulder.
It should be fed through either of the two upper
slots of the backrest.

Check rst in which slot to feed the Seat Belt Ad-
juster Guide, by sitting your child in the booster
seat: the guide should go into the slot nearest to
the top of your child’s shoulder, and to the side
where the belt retractor is located.
Feed the Seat Belt Adjuster Guide through the de-
sired slot, through shell and cover.

Install the child seat on a passenger seat with a
3 point seat belt, facing towards the front of the
vehicle.
Pull the diagonal belt of the vehicle.

Insert the diagonal belt into the Seat Belt Adjuster
Guide.

Then feed the Seat Belt Adjuster Guide + belt
back through the same slot in cover and shell.

Make sure that the opening of the Seat Belt Ad-
juster Guide is on the outside of the loop of the
diagonal belt.

Lock the Seat Belt Adjuster Guide + belt in the
recess behind the slot by pulling upwards on the
diagonal belt.
Make sure that the guide is correctly positionned
in the recess.

Now you can install your child:
Pull again the lap and diagonal sections of the
car seat belt accross your child and secure it in
the normal way.
Make sure that there are no kinks or twists in the
car seat belt.
The lap belt should be routed under both the
armrests of the child seat and the diagonal belt
routed under the armrest as shown.

Make sure the seat belt is tightened:
pull as shown on drawing, rst on lap section, then
on lower part of diagonal belt, then above the
Seat Belt Adjuster Guide towards retractor.
When your child gets out of the child seat, the
Seat Belt Adjuster Guide can stay in position in its
recess behind the shell.

To set up for use to 22 to 36 kg
The child seat can be used as a ‘booster seat’
by removing the back section. If you have not
already removed the child’s harness, do this rst.
(Refer to diagrams 1 to 5 on pages 9 and 10).The
back section of the seat is removed by pushing
the back of the seat away from the base of the
seat.
Leave the seat belt adjuster guide attached to
the elastic band with the backrest.
Place the child car seat on the passenger seat
with a 3 point seat belt. Make sure it is facing to-
wards the front of the car.
Pull the lap and shoulder sections of the vehicle
seat belt across and secure it in the normal way.
The lap belt should be routed under both the
arm rests of the child seat, and the diagonal belt
routed over the armrest as shown.

However safe a child seat is, however well built it is, your childs’ safety depends on you.
Read this nal checklist once you have tted your child seat in your car.
Check that you have adjusted the harness to suit your child.1.
A tting for winter clothes will be too loose for a child wearing summer clothes.
Check you have installed your child seat properly using a 3 point lap and diagonal2.
belt. See section 7, tting your child seat into your car.
Check that your child seat is secure before each journey.3.
REMEMBER: mis-using your child seat will reduce the protection and safety you
offer your child.

AFTER YOU HAVE USED THE CHILD SEAT FOR AN OLDER CHILD
(GROUP 2 OR 3) YOU MUST FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW
WHEN RE-USING THE SEAT FOR A YOUNGER (GROUP 1) CHILD.
Re-t the back of the child seat.To do this, lay the
seat back at. Engage the two locating pegs and
lift upwards as shown. Then press down rmly on
the back of the seat so that the two pegs engage
securely.

Feed the metal keeper of the crotch strap through
the slot in the cover and plastic base.

Make sure that the metal keeper is securely en-
gaged against the seat base.
Underneath the base : feed the shoulder strap
between the plastic base and adjustment strap.
Then feed both ends of shoulder straps back
through side slots in base and cover.
Feed both shoulder pads through the harness
slots at the correct height for your child.
The shoulder pads are an important safety fea-
ture, and must be tted with the friction side
against your child’s shoulders.

Feed the shoulder straps through the buckle con-
nectors, through the shoulder pads and then
through the same slots in cover and shell.

Re attach the shoulder straps to the metal yoke as
shown, making sure that shoulder straps are rout-
ed between the plastic shell and the back cover.
Make sure there are no kinks or twists in the
straps.

Your child seat and its cover have been carefully designed,manufactured and tested
to the highest safety standards.
Do not put your child’s safety at risk by using without a seat cover. The seat cover
should not be replaced with any other than the one recommended by mothercare,
because the cover constitutes an integral part of the restraint performance.
The safety of this seat may be compromised by the use of accessories not approved
by mothercare.
The replacement parts listed below are available for your product. In the event that
you require any of these parts, please contact your local mothercare store or contact
Customer Care on 08453 30 40 30.
removing the fabric cover
The fabric cover can be removed from the seat. Remove the child’s harness refer toC
diagrams 1 to 5 on pages 9 and 10.
Then release the elasticated edges of the cover from the seat.
cleaning the seat
The harness and plastic parts can be sponged with a mild detergent and warmC
water.
Ensure no soap gets into the buckle or adjusters.
Do not use chemical cleaners or bleach on the harness straps.
Dry thoroughly before use.

3. This child restraint has been classied as ‘Universal’ under more stringent condi-
tions than those which applied to earlier designs which do not carry this notice.
