Motorola C1011LX User manual

2. Slide the battery coverback into place.
3. If you are charging the battery for the rsttime, place the handset on the base to
charge for at least 24 hours continuously.

Plug the other end of the telephone line cord (make sure that one end is already
plugged into the base) into the telephonewall outlet.
Connecting the handset and charger (for multi-pack only)
If you have purchased a multiple pack,you will need to carry out this process for all the
handsets and chargers.
1. Plug the power adapter into the socket marked on the underside of the
charger and plug the other end into the electrical outletwall outlet.
2. Remove the batterycover from the back ofthe handset and insert the AAA
2.4v 300mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery supplied. Please note the’+’ and ’-’
markings inside the battery compartment and insert in the correct direction.
3. Slide the battery coverback into place.

BATTERY LOW WARNING
If Eicon flashes on the display and you hear a warning beep every 2 minutes
during a call, you will need to recharge the handset before you can resume use.
When charging, ficon will scroll on the display.
BATTERY PERFORMANCE
In ideal conditions, a fully charged battery should give up to 10 hours of talktime or up
to 200 hours standby time on a single charge.1
Note that a new battery does not reach it’s full capacity until it has been putto normal
use for several days.
To keep your battery in the best condition, leavethe handset o the base for a few
hours at a time.
Running the battery down at least one time perweek will help prolong battery life.
4. Enter the date using the keypad (e.g. 08--12--14 for 12th ofAugust 2014) and
press mto conrm.

6.2 Area code

4.2 View or dial an entry

NOTE
When the keypad is locked, you can still answerincoming calls and operate the
handset in a normal fashion during a call. When the call ends, the keypad lock

3.9 Paging / Find handset
You can alert a handset user that they are wanted or locate a missing handset.
Paging calls cannot be answered by a handset.
1. Press pon the base. All handsets registeredto the base will ring.
2. To stop the ringing, press pon the base again or press anybutton on the
handset.
4. Phonebook
You can store up to 50 names and numbers in the phonebook. Names can be up to 14
characters long and numbers up to 24 digits.
4.1 Store a name and number
If the C101xLX is connected to a PABX, you mayneed to enter a pause in a stored
number. This givesthe PABX time to nd an outside line.
A pause is normally stored afterthe PABX access code (e.g. 9).
When storing a number, press and hold #until the displayshows P. You canthen
continue storing the phone number.
If you have subscribed to a Caller ID Service and wish to displaythe name of your caller
as well as the number, save the full telephone number including the area code to your
phonebook.
You can store multiple entries, a telephone number may only be saved once. However,
to prevent unnecessary duplicated entries,you can only store the same number once.

3.7 Redial
The last 10 entries dialed are stored in the redial list.
3.7.1 View or dial an entry
1. Press rto open the Redial list.
2. Scroll uor dto the entry you want.
3. Press tto dial the displayed entry orpress eto return to standby.
3.7.2 Copy a Redial list numberto the phonebook
1. Press rto open the Redial list.

You can lock the keypad sothat it cannot be operated accidentally while carrying it

Overview of your handset Navigating the menus
Each menu has a list of options, which can be seen in detail on the menu map on the
below list.
When the handset is switched on and in standby mode:
1. Press mto open the main menu.
2. Then use uor dbuttons to scroll through the available options.
3. Press mto select an option. To return tothe previous menu level,
press b. To exit the menu and returnto standby, press e.
NOTE
If buttons on the handset are not pressed within 30 seconds, the handset will go into
standby mode.

3. Using the phone
NOTE
Your handset will automatically time theduration of all external calls. The calltimer will
display after the rst 10 seconds of yourcall. When the call ends, the total duration of
your talk time is shown for 3 seconds.
3.1 Switch the handset on / o
Press and hold eto switch the handset on or o.
3.2 Calls
3.2.1 Make a call
1. Press t.
2. Dialing a telephone number.
3.2.2 Preparatory dialling
1. Use the keypad to dial a number, if you make a mistake press bto delete the
last digit.
2. Press tto dial.
3.2.3 End a call
Press e, or place the handset back on the base orcharger.
3.2.4 Receive a call
When you receive an external call,the phone rings and icon flashes on the display.
1. Press tto answer the call.
3.3 Adjust the earpiece volume
During a call, press uor d to increase or decrease the volume. There are 5 levels
to choose from.
3.4 Mute
You can mute yourhandset so that you can talk to someone nearby without yourcaller
hearing.

and your caller cannot hear you.
2. Press Magain to resume your call.
3.5 Intercom
3.5.1 Make an internal call
If more than one handset is registered to the base, internal calls can be made between
two handsets. icon flashes and the display shows the handset number you are
calling.
1. If only 2 handsets are registered to the base, press *and the other handset
rings automatically.
2. If more than 2 handsets are registeredto the base press *and scroll dto the
handset that is to be called and press t.
3.5.2 Receive an internal call
When you receive an internal call, icon flashes and the handset number that is calling
you is displayed.
1. Press tto answer the call.
3.5.3 Transfer a call
You can transfer an external callto another handset registered to the base.
During an external call:
2. If only 2 handsets are registered to the base, press and hold *and the other
handset rings automatically.
3. If more than 2 handsets are registeredto the base press and hold *and scroll
dto the handset that is to be called and press m.
4. When the other handset answers, press eto complete the transfer.
NOTE
Your external call resumes automatically after 1 minute ifthere is no answer.
3.5.4 3-way conference call
You can hold a 3-way conference call between 2 internal callers and 1 external caller.
During a call with an external caller:
5. If only 2 handsets are registered to the base, press and hold *and the other
handset rings automatically.
6. If more than 2 handsets are registeredto the base press and hold *and scroll
dto the handset that is to join the call and press m.
7. When the other handset answers, press mto connect all three callersto begin
the conference call.
8. Press eto end the call.
3.6 Hands-free
To talk to the caller without holdingthe handset or for other people in the room to
listen to the conversation over the loudspeaker simplyuse the hands-free function.
3.6.1 Make a hands-free call
1. Dial the number and then press h.
1. Getting started
IMPORTANT
Do not place your C101xLX in the bathroom or other humid locations..
Location
You will need to placeyour C101xLX base within 4.9 feet of the electrical outlet and
telephone wall outlet so that the cables will reach.The socket-outlet should be installed
near the equipment and should be easily accessible.
Make sure that it is at least 3 feet awayfrom other electrical appliances to avoid
interference. Your C101xLX works bysending radio signals between the handset and
base. The strength of the signal depends on where the base is placed. Placing the base
at a higher location ensures a better signal.
HANDSET RANGE
The unit has a range of up to 650 feet outdoors when there is a clearline of sight
between the base and handset. Any obstruction betweenthe base and handset will
reduce the range signicantly. With the base indoors andthe handset either indoors or
outdoors, the range will normally be up to 98 feet.Thick concrete and stone walls can
severely aect the range.
SIGNAL STRENGTH
The icon on your handset indicates that you are within range ofthe base. When
out of range of the base, the icon disappears. If you are on a call, you will hear a
warning beep.
The line will hang up if the handset moves out of range of the base. Move closer to the
base. The handset will automatically reconnect to the base.
Setting up
IMPORTANT
The base station must be plugged into the electrical outlet at all times. Do not connect
the telephone line cord into the wall outlet untilthe handset is fully charged. Use only
the supplied power adapter and telephone line cord.
Connecting the base
1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socketmarked on the underside of the base.
2. Plug the power adapter into the socket marked on the underside of the base
and plug the other end into the electrical outlet. wall outlet.
Installing and charging the handset
1. Remove the batterycover from the back ofthe handset and insert the
rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack supplied. Please note the ’+’and ’-’ markings
inside the battery compartment and insert in the correct direction.

The charge capacity of the rechargeable battery will reducewith time as it wears out,
giving the handset less talk / standby time. Eventually it will needto be replaced.
After charging your handset forthe rst time, subsequent charging time is about 6–8
hours a day. The battery and handset may become warm during charging.This is
normal.
1All talk and standby times are approximate and depend on features selected and
usage pattern.
Date and time
If you have subscribed to a Caller ID Service and the Auto Clock is setto on, the date
and time will automatically set forall handsets when you receiveyour rst call.
If you do not have a CallerID service, you can set the date and time manually, see
section “5.3. Date and Time”.

Cannot register a handset to the base
• You can register up to a maximum of 4 handsets to a C101xLX base. You must
un-register a handset in order to register a new one.
• Check that you have enteredthe correct PIN code (default = 0000).
• Check that you are at least 3 feet away from other electrical equipment to avoid
interference when registering.
Handset does not ring
• The handset ringer volume may be setto O.
Noise interference on my phone or on other electrical
equipment nearby
• Place your C101xLX at least 3 feet away from electrical appliances or anymetal
obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.
Answering machine does not record messages
• Switch the answering machine on.
• The memory may be full, delete messages tofree space.
• Answer mode may be set toAnswer only.

Cannot access messages remotely
• Remote access may be switched o.
• If wrong PIN is entered a beep is played.You can enterthe PIN once again.

• Check that the telephone line cord is connected properly.

• Check that the handset is switched on. Press and hold e.
• Reset the base by removing the battery and disconnecting the power adapter.
Wait for around 15 seconds before connecting it again. Allow up to one minute
for the handset and base to synchronize.

• Make sure that the handset is registered to the base.
• Check that the power adapter is connected and you have a working outlet.
Keypad is not responding
• Check that the keypad lock is not on.

No Caller ID
• Check your subscription with your network operator.
• The caller may have withheld their number.
8.6 Ring delay
Select the duration of rings before youranswering machine picks up the call. Choose
from 3-8 Rings or In Toll Saver mode:
• If you have newmessages your phone answers after 3 Rings.
• If there are no new messages itwill answer after 5 Rings. So you have the option
to hang up, saving the time and cost of a call.
• If the memory is full, it will automaticallyrevert to Answer Only mode.

There are two pre-recorded outgoing messages, oryou can record your own.

8. Using the answering machine
Your C101xLX product can digitally record up to 12 minutes of recorded messages.As
well as recording incoming messages.
You can operate your answering machine from:
• the base
• the handset
• or remotely, from any touchtone telephone.
You will need to set the correct day and time (if you have not already done so) so each
message is accurately timestamped.
8.1 Switch the answering machine on / o

7.1 Caller ID
If you have subscribed to a Caller ID Service, you will be ableto see your caller’s
number on your handset (provided it is not withheld) prior to answeringthe call. The
display can show the rst 16 digits or14 characters of the phone numbers.
If your caller’s name and numberare stored in the phonebook and a number match is
found, you will see the caller’s name onthe display as well.
7.2 Calls list
The Calls list stores details of your last 50 received calls, including the phone number,
date and time of call.
The Calls list also alerts you when you have unanswered calls.
The caller’s details are stored in the Calls list whetheror not you have answered the call.
The list is shared by all handsets registered to the base. When the list is full, and a new
call is received, the oldest entry will be deleted automatically.
When you have missed call(s) (incoming calls that you haven’t answered) the display
will show

and the icon willflash on all handsets registered to the base.

7.2.1 View the Calls list
1. Press dto open the Calls list. If there are no calls in the list, the display shows

• The most recent number or name if stored inthe phonebook is displayed.

• If the call was answered, icon is displayed as you scroll to the entry. Ifthe
call was unanswered, icon is displayed as you scroll to the entry.
• If the telephone number is longerthan 16 digits, uicon is displayed. Press
bto see the remaining digits.
• Press mto access the option to storethe entry in your phonebook.
• Press mtwice to see the time and date of the call.
3. When viewing a calls list number press #to toggle the Calls List between
dierent formats, e.g. YYY-YYYY,AAA-YYY-YYYY or 1-AAA-YYY-YYY.
