How to Forward IP Ports
Only experienced network administrators should perform this process.
Qwest technical support doesn’t support this process.
Use this document if:
•You need to configure your modem for generic port forwarding.
Note: These instructions are for forwarding Telnet Port 23 to a Local Area Network (LAN) server.
This document assumes:
•You use the Qwest Premium Networking Modem: Motorola 3347.
•Your modem is connected directly to your computer.

1. Enter “192.168.0.1” in the Address bar of your Internet browser.
2. On the modem home page, select Advanced Setup from the options on the left.

6. Select either a range of ports or trigger ports.
•A port range is less secure, leaving the mapped ports constantly open regardless of traffic.
•Trigger ports are more secure, and only open inbound ports when specific outbound traffic is
detected.
For this example, select the Port Forwarding: Range of Ports radio button. Then, select the Next
button.

7. Enter your Service Name (e.g. Telnet).
Enter your Global Port Range (e.g. -23 to 23).
Enter your Base Host Port (e.g. -23).
In the “Protocol” field, select either the TCP or UDP radio button.
Then, select the Next button.

8. Select the Done button.

9. On the “NAT” page, select the service you added in Step 7 (in this example, Telnet Port 23), from the
Service Name drop-down list.
Then, select the Enable button.

10. Select the computer that will be receiving the Telnet Port 23 traffic, from the Select Host Device
drop-down list. Then, select the Enable button.
