CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your Movado watch requires periodic maintenance
to ensure optimal performance. Maintenance
includes complete disassembly, cleaning,
reassembly and lubrication of the movement.
A maintenance interval of 3 to 5 years is
recommended, and is in addition to required
battery replacement.
Never open the watch yourself. If your watch
needs repair or adjustment, you may take or send
it directly to a Movado Authorized Service Center.

Water Resistance
Movado water-resistant watches are tested to
meet international standards for water resistance.
Periodic maintenance is required. The gaskets and
crown which seal the case are subject to wear
and deterioration under normal use. These parts
should be inspected and replaced as needed each
time the watch is opened for service.
CAUTION: The Movado Watch Company will not
be responsible for any damage caused by or rela-
ted to leakage originating from improper handling
or damage to the case, crown, gaskets or crystal.

Standard 2-Hand Quartz Models
To set the time: (See Figure A)
1. Pull crown gently out to position 2.
2. Turn crown counter clockwise to set hands to
desired time.
3. Push crown back in to position 1.

Battery Information
Your Movado quartz watch has a 1.55 volt silver
oxide battery. It is specially designed for watches
and will last approximately 18 to 30 months,
depending on the watch model.
It is important to use only the replacement
battery recommended by Movado.
Most Movado quartz watches will simply stop
when the battery life has been exhausted.
However, some Movado models have a battery
end-of-life feature: When the battery is nearing
the end of its life, the watch’s seconds hand will
start to move haltingly, advancing only once every
4 to 5 seconds, in 4- to 5-second increments. This
change signals that it is time to have the battery
replaced. Take or send your watch to a Movado
Authorized Service Center. Do not attempt to
change the battery yourself.

Quartz Calendar Models
and Standard Automatic Models
To set the time: (See Figure C)
1. Pull crown gently out to position 3.
2. Turn crown in direction that moves hour/minute
hands counter clockwise to set them to the
desired time.
3. Push crown back in to position 1.
To set the date:
NOTE: Take AM/PM into account when setting
time, so date changes at midnight, not at noon.
1. Pull crown gently out to position 2.
2. Turn crown clockwise until desired date appears
in calendar window.
3. Push crown back in to position 1.
To manually wind an automatic
movement: The motion of your arm during
normal daily activities should be sufficient to keep
the movement of your Movado automatic time-
piece wound. However, if you have not worn your
watch for more than 40 hours and the movement
has stopped, you may need to windit manually:
1. With crown in position 1, flush against the
case, turn crown clockwise, completing 20
revolutions.
2. Reset time and date following instructions above.

Elliptica®
One of the unique design features of the Elliptica
timepiece is the 12 o’clock position of the crown,
or winding stem. To avoid bending or breaking
this winding stem, please remove the watch from
your wrist before setting the time.
Position 1 – For normal wear
Position 2 – For time setting
To set the time: (See Figure B)
1. Pull crown out gently to position 2.
2. Turn crown counter clockwise to set hands to
the desired time.
3. Push crown back in to position 1, flush with
the case.

To change the date:
1. Pull crown Fout to position 2.
2. Turn crown in either direction to move hour hand
Huntil the date changes, continue until desired
date appears.
To correct time zone:
This adjustment will not stop the watch and does
not affect the time indicated by the minute Mand
seconds Chands.
1. Pull crown Fout to position 2.
2. Turn crown in either direction to move hour hand
Hone or several hours ahead or back, or to
change the time after crossing into another zone.
3. Once the adjustment has been made, return the
crown to position 1 immediately.
Chronograph functions:
•
Use buttons A and B to operate the chronograph.
Pressing button Athe first time will start the
chronograph.
• While the chronograph is running, once chrono-
graph seconds-counter hand Dhas completed one
turn, minutes-counter hand Ewill jump ahead one
minute. Tenths-of-a-second hand Gdoes not
move when the chronograph is running.
• Pressing button Aa second time will stop the
chronograph and move hand Gto the relevant
tenth-of-a-second mark.
• Pressing button Bwill reset hands G, Eand D
to zero.
IMPORTANT: Crown Fmust be in position 1, and
hands must be at zero before the chronograph is
started. If necessary, press button Bto reset to
zero. Do not use chronograph while crown is pulled
out to position 2 or 3.
Chronograph Models
A chronograph combines two time-keeping func-
tions.
It incorporates a device to measure intervals
of time independent of the time indicated by the
hands on the dial. Your Movado quartz chrono-
graph is water resistant to 30 meters (99 feet)
3 ATM, and can time events up to 29 minutes,
59.9 seconds in duration.
To adjust the time:
(See Figures D & E)
NOTE: Take AM/PM into account when setting
time, so date changes at midnight, not at noon.
1. As soon as the small seconds hand Cin the
subdial at 6 o’clock reaches the <<60>>
position, pull crown Fout to position 3. The
watch will stop.
2. Turn crown counter clockwise to move hands
and set the time.
3. Set the minute hand Mone minute ahead of
exact time.
4. Take an accurate time signal (from a radio news
station, for example). When the audible tone
signals the exact time, push crown back in to
position 1. The watch will restart.

Split-time functions:
You can take intermediate time readings as a
race progresses:
1. Press button Ato start chronograph.
2. Press button Bto momentarily stop
chronograph.
3. Read off the intermediate time.
4. Press button Bto resume chronograph
function.
Hands will catch up with the ongoing event.
5. To read a second split time, press button B
again. Repeat steps 2 through 4 to take any
additional split times.
6. Press button Ato stop chronograph.
7. Take a reading of the final time.
8. Press button Bto reset chronograph to zero.
First place and runner-up results:
You can measure both a winning time and
runner-up results:
1. Press button Ato start chronograph.
2. As soon as the winner crosses finish line, press
button B. The chronograph will stop.
3. When the second runner crosses finish line,
press button A.
4. Note the time for the winner as shown on
the dial.
5. Then press button B; the hands will move up
to indicate the time for the runner-up.
6. Press button Bagain to return all hands to
zero.

Aand Bwhile the timepiece is under
water.
NOTE: Adjusting the time does not stop the
chronograph, but it does block buttons Aand B
for as long as the stem of the crown is pulled out.

Automatic Models with Power
Reserve (Réserve de Marche) and
GMT (“24 Hour Hand”)
Power Reserve Indicator (See Figure F)
The power reserve function is designed to help
you monitor how much running time your watch
has left. In the U-shaped sector on the dial, the
large white dot represents full power reserve (ma-
ximum reserve is 42 hours) and the large red dot
indicates no reserve (0 hours). While the power
reserve is automatically increased or »restored»
by the motion of your wrist during normal daily
activities, if the indicator enters the red dot zone,
you should wind your automatic watch by hand to
ensure its continuing precise, reliable function:
To wind the movement:
(See Figure G on next page)
1. With the crown in position 1, flush against the
case, turn the crown clockwise until the power
reserve (réserve de marche) indicator hand
points to full capacity (large white dot).
To set the time:
(See Figure G on next page)
1. Pull crown gently out to position 3.
2. Turn crown counter clockwise to set them to the
desired time.
3. Push the crown back in to position 1. If the
movement has been properly wound, the
watch will resume running, now set to the
precise time.

After changing the battery, or in the event of an
error, the chronograph hands can be realigned to
zero if needed:
Crown position 2:
• Adjust minutes-counter hand E using button B .
Crown position 3:
• Adjust seconds counter/chronograph hand D

• Adjust tenths-of-a-second counter hand Gusing
button B.
• To advance hands rapidly, press push buttons
and hold longer than one second.

different time zone. The “24 hour” hand in the
GMT subdial at 9 o’clock makes one full revolution
during a 24-hour period. Corrector button A, located
on the side of the case at the 8 o’clock position,
controls the “24 hour” hand.
To set the “24 hour” hand:
1. To set the “24 hour” hand to the current time
in a second time zone, use a fine tip ball point
pen to push Corrector button A. Each press on
button Awill move the “24 hour” hand forward
by one hour.
2. Press button Aas many times as needed to
advance the “24 hour” hand until it points to
the current time in the second time zone.
The GMT feature is now operating. As the “24 hour”
hand moves around the subdial, it will continue to
point to the current time in your second time zone.
To set the date:
IMPORTANT: Do not change the date between
9 p.m. and 3 a.m. when automatic calendar
changes are in progress. Doing so could damage
the movement.
1. Pull crown gently out to position 2.
2. Turn crown counterclockwise until desired date
appears in calendar window.
3. Push the crown back in to position 1.
GMT (The “24 Hour” Hand):
(See Figure G)
In addition to keeping local time, watches with a
“24 hour” hand or GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)
feature can simultaneously track time in a

To close the clasp: (See Figure K)
1.Press firmly on the push-button, holding it in as
you fold the clasp into its closed position.
2.When you feel clasp snap shut, release push
button.
3.Your new Movado SE strap watch is now secured
on your wrist and ready to wear.
To size the SE leather strap:
(See Figure L)
1. Holding the strap in one hand with the outer
side facing you, as shown, use the index finger
on your other hand to flip the attachment bar
part of the clasp open.
2. From the inner side of the strap, lift the prong
from its hole.
(see Figure M)
3. Slide the attachment bar with prong along the
strap until it is in the desired new position,
then push the prong back through the
alternate strap hole.
4. From the outer side of the strap, press the
attachment bar closed, locking the clasp in its
new position.

Movado SE™Strap
Deployment Buckles
The colored leather or rubber strap on your new
Movado SE features a special folding deployment
clasp with push-button release.
Operating Instructions
To attach SE rubber strap:
1. Slide strap tip under bar on inside of detached
end of clasp, and pull through, adjusting length
to fit wrist.
(See Figure H)
2. Fold strap back and slip edges under the hooks
to secure strap in position with excess length
hidden under strap.
(See Figure J)
3. Check fit, adjust if necessary, then pull to tighten.
To open the clasp:
(See Figure K)
CAUTION: Do not pull on the strap or attempt to
pop the clasp open with a fingernail. Doing so
could damage the clasp’s lock/release mechanism.
1. Holding the clasp between your thumb and
index finger as shown, apply pressure to the
push-button.
2. As you press it in firmly, the push-button will
retract, releasing the locking mechanism and
allowing you to open the deployment clasp.

MOVADO WARRANTY
Movado will, within two (2) years from date of
purchase, repair or replace (at Movado’s option)
the movement of your Movado watch free of
charge if such movement proves to be defective in
material or workmanship under normal use.
The finish on Movado gold-plated watches will be
warranted for a period of five (5) years against
flaking and peeling only. The case and/or bracelet
will be refinished or replaced (at Movado’s option)
should such finish prove to be defective in material
or workmanship.
This warranty does not cover batteries, leather
straps, or crystals, nor does it cover damage arising
from normal wear, scratches, accidents or misuse,
or from any alteration, service or repair performed
by any party other than Movado Watch or one of
its Authorized Service Centers.
This warranty is void if the timepiece was not
purchased from an Authorized Movado Dealer, as
evidenced by a valid warranty card or proof of
purchase. To be valid (for watches purchased from
any authorized dealer in North America), the
warranty card must be embossed with the name of
the Authorized Movado Dealer, as well as dated
and signed by that dealer. To be valid (for watches
purchased from any authorized dealer outside
North America), the warranty card must be duly
completed, dated and stamped by the authorized
Movado Jeweller.

MANTENIMIENTO
Su reloj Movado precisa un mantenimiento
periódico para asegurar su rendimiento óptimo.
El mantenimiento incluye un desarme completo,
la limpieza, el nuevo montaje y la lubricación

Se recomienda respetar un intervalo de
mantenimiento de 3 a 5 años (aparte de la

Para poner la hora: (Figura A)
1. Extraer suavemente la corona hasta la
posición 2.
2. Girar la corona en sentido antihorario para

3. Meter nuevamente la corona para que vuelva
a la posición 1.

Información acerca de las pilas
Su reloj de cuarzo de Movado cuenta con una pila
de óxido de plata de 1,55 voltios. Ésta ha sido
concebida especialmente para su uso en relojes y
su vida es de 18 a 30 meses, aproxima-damente,
en función del modelo de reloj.
Debe emplearse sólo la pila de respuesto
recomendada por Movado.
La mayoría de los relojes de cuarzo de Movado se
parará simplemente cuando se ha agotado la pila.
Sin embargo, algunos modelos de Movado cuentan
con un indicador de agotamiento de la pila: cuando
la pila está llegando al final de su vida útil, el
segundero del reloj comenzará a moverse a
intervalos, avanzando sólo cada 4 ó 5 segundos
(en intervalos de 4 a 5 segundos). Este cambio le
indica que ya es hora de cambiar la pila. Lleve o
envíe su reloj a un Centro de Servicio Autorizado de
Movado. No intente cambiar la pila por sí mismo.

Elliptica®
Una de las características del diseño especial de
su reloj Elliptica es la posición frente a las 12 de
la corona o tija de cuerda. Para evitar que se
doble o se rompa esta tija de cuerda, quítese el
reloj de la muñeca antes de ponerlo en hora.
Posición 1 – Para el uso normal
Posición 2 – Para la puesta en hora
Para poner el reloj en hora: ( Figura B)
1. Tire suavemente de la corona hacia la
posición 2.
2. Girar la corona en sentido antihorario para
ajustar las manecillas a la hora deseada.
3. Empuje de nuevo la corona hacia la
posición 1, de modo que quede al nivel de
la caja.

Cronógrafos
Los cronógrafos combinan dos funciones de
tiempo. Llevan incorporado un mecanismo que
sirve para medir intervalos de tiempo con inde-
pendencia de la hora indicada por las manecillas
de la esfera principal. Su cronógrafo Movado de
cuarzo es sumergible hasta 30 metros (99 pies)
3 ATM y puede medir eventos de hasta 29
minutos 59,9 segundos de duración.
Para ajustar la hora: (Figura D&E)
NOTA: Tenga en cuenta AM/PM al poner en
hora, para que la fecha cambie a medianoche y
no al mediodía.
1. En cuanto la manecilla pequeña del
segundero Cde la esfera secundaria
situada en posición de las 6 alcance la

Para dar cuerda manualmente a
su mecanismo de reloj automático:
El movimiento de su brazo durante las actividades
diarias debe ser suficiente como para dar cuerda
permanentemente al mecanismo de su reloj
automático de Movado.
Sin embargo, si no llevó su reloj durante más de
40 horas y se detuvo el mecanismo, tendrá que
darle cuerda a mano.
1. Con la corona en posición 1, en ras con la
caja, girar la corona en sentido de las agujas
del reloj, completando 20 revoluciones.
2. Ajustar la hora y la fecha conforme a las
instrucciones arriba indicadas.

• Con el cronógrafo en marcha, la manecilla
que cuenta los minutos E se moverá un paso
hacia delante para indicar el minuto cumplido
en cuanto la manecilla del segundero del
cronógrafo Dhaya dado una vuelta completa.
La manecilla de las décimas de segundo G
no se mueve cuando el cronógrafo está en
marcha.
• Al presionar el botón Auna segunda vez, el
cronógrafo se detendrá y la manecilla Gse
situará en la marca de la décima de segundo
relevante.
• Las manecillas G, E y Dse pondrán a cero
al presionar el botón B.
IMPORTANTE: Antes de poner en marcha el
cronógrafo, la corona Ftiene que estar en
posición 1 y las manecillas deben estar a cero.
Si fuera necesario, presione el botón Bpara
ponerlas a cero. No utilice el cronógrafo cuando
la corona esté en la posición 2 ó 3.
3. Adelante la manecilla de minutos Mun
minuto a la hora exacta.
4. Acceda a una señal exacta de la hora
(consultando una emisora radiofónica de
noticias, por ejemplo). Cuando la señal
acústica indique la hora exacta, apriete la
corona para volver a colocarla en la posición
1. El reloj volverá a ponerse en marcha.
Para cambiar la fecha:
1. Extraer la corona F a la posición 2.
2. Girar la corona en cualquier dirección para
mover la manecilla de horas Hhasta que
cambie la fecha. Continuar hasta que
aparezca la fecha deseada.
Para corregir el huso horario:
Este ajuste no detendrá el reloj y no afecta a la
hora que indican la manecilla del minutero My
del segundero C.
1. Tire de la corona F hasta la posición 2.
2. Gire la corona en cualquiera de los dos
sentidos para cambiar la manecilla de la
hora Huna o varias horas, tanto hacia
delante como hacia atrás, o para cambiar la
hora al entrar en un huso horario diferente.
3. Cuando haya hecho el ajuste necesario,
vuelva a colocar inmediatamente la
corona en la posición 1.

Función de tiempos parciales:
Puede hacer mediciones intermedias del tiempo
mientras la carrera está en progreso:
1. Presione el botón Apara poner el cronó-
grafo en marcha.
2. Presione el botón B para detener momentá-
neamente el cronógrafo.
3. Vea el tiempo intermedio que señala.
4. Presione el botón Bpara reanudar la función
de cronógrafo. Las manecillas se situarán
automáticamente en el tiempo real del
acontecimiento que sigue en evolución.
5. Para ver un segundo tiempo parcial, presione
el botón Bpor segunda vez. Repita los pasos
2 a 4 si quiere ver sucesivos tiempos parciales.
6. Presione el botón Apara detener el
cronógrafo.
7. Vea el tiempo final.
8. Presione el botón Bpara poner el cronógrafo
a cero.
Resultados del ganador y del siguiente
corredor de una carrera:
Puede medir tanto el tiempo del ganador como el
del siguiente corredor:
1. Presione el botón Apara poner el cronógrafo
en marcha.
2. En cuanto el ganador cruce la meta presione
el botón B. El cronógrafo se detendrá.
3. En cuanto el siguiente corredor cruce la línea
de meta presione el botón A.

IMPORTANTE: No pulse los botones A y B del
cronógrafo mientras el reloj esté sumergido.
NOTA: El ajuste de la hora no detiene el
cronógrafo, pero los botones A
y B quedan
bloqueados durante todo el tiempo que el
vástago de la corona esté sacado.
Funciones simples del cronógrafo:
1. Presione el botón Apara poner el cronó-
grafo en marcha.
2. Presione el botón A una segunda vez para
detener el cronógrafo.
3. Presione el botón Bpara poner el cronógrafo
a cero.
