The MAGBES-20 Family is also available as “stacked” Versio , which mea s the 2 MAGBES are cascaded
together to get a 8 port Switch. They are cascaded via the port 4 a d both MAGBES are ma aged i dividual.
Therefore they would require 2 differe t IP Addresses, for each ma ageme t i sta ce.

1 INTRO UCTION
1.1 ABOUT THIS MANUAL
This ma ual, the MAGBES-21/-22/-23 User Ma ual a d the MPL Ma aged Switch Family Tech ical Refere ce
Ma ual provides all the i formatio ecessary to ha dle a d co figure the MAGBES.
The ma ual is writte for tech ical perso el respo sible for i tegrati g the MAGBES i to their systems.
It is strongly recommended to read the MAGBES-21/-22/-23 User Manual, the MPL Managed
Switch Family Technical Reference Manual and also this manual before the MAGBES is
switched on.
1.2 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AN HAN LING
For perso al safety a d safe operatio of the MAGBES, follow all safety procedures described here a d i other
sectio s of the miscella eous ma ual.
●Remove power from the system before i stalli g (or removi g) the MAGBES, to preve t the possibility of
perso al i jury (electrical shock) a d / or damage to the product.
●Ha dle the product carefully; i.e. droppi g or misha dli g the MAGBES ca cause damage to assemblies
a d compo e ts.
●Do ot expose the equipme t to moisture.
WARNING
There are no user-serviceable components on the MAGBES.
1.3 ELECTROSTATIC ISCHARGE (ES ) PROTECTION
Various electrical compo e ts withi the product are se sitive to static a d electrostatic discharge (ESD). Eve
a small static discharge ca be sufficie t to destroy or degrade a compo e t's operatio !
With a ope housi g, do ot touch a y electro ic compo e ts. Ha dle or touch o ly the u it chassis.
1.4 EQUIPMENT SAFETY
Great care is take by MPL AG that all its products are thoroughly a d rigorously tested before leavi g the
factory to e sure that they are fully operatio al a d co form to specificatio . However, o matter how reliable a
product, there is always the remote possibility that a defect may occur. The occurre ce of a defect o this
device may, u der certai co ditio s, cause a defect to occur i adjoi i g a d/or co ected equipme t. It is
your respo sibility to protect such equipme t whe i stalli g this device. MPL accepts o respo sibility
whatsoever for such defects, however caused.
