Power Cables & USB Port
Power Cables: One power cable connects to instrument.
USB Port: You can connect mouse or printer.
Turn on Instrument
Press the POWER button to turn on the instrument.
Turn on Computer
Press the button to turn on the computer.
Caution:Before switching off the instrument, turn off the computer from the Windows first, after
one minute, switch off the power button at the back of the machine.
Please don’t switch off the power button when both the computer and machine are running.

Software installation
1. We have installed the software in the computer, you only need to click NAPCO9600 icon to run the
software.

1.Turn on instrument and computer
2.Run Software
Double click below icon" NAPCO9600” to run software
3.System automatic preheating
After the system self-test finished, the instrument will be preheated for 5 minutes. If the user
opens the testing chamber cover, the preheating will be automatically ended. Recommend to
finish the 10 minutes preheating for the first time starting.
Operation interface
After preheating, HV and X-ray tube are ready to use, the system will automatically enter the
main test interface.

A. Test status information:
Test mode: Single test, Repeat test, Multi-point test, Peak adjustment.
Curve Name: The name of template which is automatically selected for testing and
calculating.
Spectrum name: The name of spectrum which is testing or opening.
Test Voltage: Real-time voltage output to X-ray tube from HV.
Test current: Real-time current output to X-ray tube from HV.
Test CPS: The effective pulse count of the detector output per second.
Tube Temperature: Current temperature of X-ray tube.
System Temperature: Current temperature of instrument.
Test Time: Test duration of each test.

B. Channel information of current cursor
The information display when the mouse cursor in the cross position of the spectral area,
X axis represents the channel position (0~2048), Y axis represents the count rate of
current channel position; Energy represents the transition electron energy coordinate
system of the elements which convert from X axis channel
C. Highest Peak position in display area:
Because the X axis channel can be zoomed in /out, so that the information indicates the
highest peak position in the current display area.
D. Peak
The spectrum which is qualitatively identified close to the normal distribution peak.
E. Current Peak Flag
The feature line of element which is qualitatively identified, such as Ag: Ka, Ag
represents the element, Ka is one of the characteristic spectra of Ag elements.
F. Result
The system calculate result and display automatically within 3 seconds after starting test.
G. Operational Area
Windows buttons: Standard windows buttons, including minimize, Maximize and close
Result button: when the test is completed or open one spectrum file, the button can be
operated to get quantitative results.
System control button: Enter system control interface.
User Information button: enter user information interface.
Program information button: Enter program information interface.
Test button: Start or stop test.
Curve selection: Select test curve.
Parameter setting button: Enter parameter setting interface
Open spectrum: Check previous spectrum information

5.Initialization (Peak Adjust)
The purpose of peak adjustment is to correct instrument hardware parameter to ensure
the test accuracy and stability. If the result has big deviation, system will remind customers
to carry out this operation, because this operation must be implemented with silver sample,
so it must be manually operated.
Click Test button ,select “Peak Adjust” test, input name and test frequency, click “OK”
System will automatically adjust and complete until pop up below screen:

6. Testing
a) Click Test button ,pop up below screen:
b) Select “Single” test, input sample name (If don’t type, system use default name
“TempSample” automatically) Use high-efficient convenient digital small keyboard to
input the name, and then click OK. If same name exists, system will ask you “want to
cover”? Click “Yes” to cover previous file, Click “No” to input name
c) At the beginning of testing, system will adjust the X-ray tube current, and then start
calculating, default testing duration is 60 seconds:
d) After testing, system will automatically switch to the results page as below.

e) Click the print button at the right lower corner, then choose different external or
internal printer.

6.2. Repeat Test
a) Click Test button ,select “Repeat” test, input name and test frequency, click
“OK” :
Notice: if input test frequency as 5, the total testing duration is 5 times more than single test
duration.
b) After testing, system will automatically switch to the results page. It will display the
detected elements, elements ‘value, average deviation, uncertainty specific value.
c) Click” Details” to check each time test result.

6.3. Multi-point test
a) Click Test button ,select “Multi” test, input name and test frequency, click
“OK”.
b) After testing one point, system will remind user to continue the test with another
point as below:
c) After completing all five points, system will automatically switch to the results page
as below
d) Click” Details” to check each time test result.

Q&A
Q: Software keep reminding” Newyork connection error “and “DSP connection error”,
how to do?
A: please contact engineer as soon as possible.
Q: what time to do peak adjustment
A: After testing pure silver sample, the peak channel more than +/- 3 comparing with
standard 1100 channel. Retest or contact engineer.
Q: What should we do when the result have big deviation with target value?
A: Confirm the uniformity of the sample, if the sample surface is not smooth, use tool to
scratch a smooth surface; if problem still exist, please contact engineer.
Q: Why the software run slowly?
A: Please temporarily close other unrelated software, at the same time close the
instrument software, and then open again, if problem still exist, please contact
engineer.
Q: Is it a problem if the equipment is not connected with ground cable or power
stabilizer?
A: Because it’s high precision scientific instrument, it’s recommended to connect
socket with ground wire and standard power stabilizer to avoid the power
influence on the test results , while avoiding the damage of HV and X-ray tube due
to sudden power failure, If you don't know what configuration of the power
stabilizer should buy, please contact engineer.

Maintenance
Basic Maintenance:
1. There should be someone specially be in charge of operation and maintenance, it can’t be operated or
moved without permission;
2. There should be none disturb during testing, for example: generator, motor, electric welding;
3. It’s suggested to work with UPS(power stabilizer) ;
4. Keep it clean and dry;
5. Please do not place the machine in the dusty room to avoid pollution.
6. Don’t put it in the room too hot or polluted;
7. Don’t put it in the room where the temperature is too low ;
8. Don’t open or fix the machine without our assistance;
9. Be careful during operation and moving;
10. After testing, please close the cover to avoid dust;
Remarks:
a) Warm up Instrument.
Warm up for 10 minutes to make sure all the hardware at the right condition.
b) Initialization with silver sample
Please do initialization with the silver sample. After initialization, the channel value should be around
1100+/-3.
c) Sample should be on the right position
Place the sample to touch the test film and find the right position according to the front video.
d) Select the proper template according to the sample
For different samples, we need select different template. (Remark: If the template is wrong, the testing
result should be wrong.)
e) Coated Sample
Cut off the coating before testing. Otherwise the result will be not correct.
f) Average result
Never judge the sample result according to one-time test, test 3-5 times, and then calculate the average
result
