OPERATION
DS5 Plus is designed for use with a PBX Extension.
The Extension should be programmed with a ‘Hot Dial Extension Address’.
Then when a visitor at the door or gate presses the call button on your NATCOMM
Door Phone, DS5 Plus will immediately go ‘Off Hook’ and the PBX will Dial the Hot
Dial Extension Number. At the same time, DS5 Plus will generate a ‘Ring Back’ tone
to the Door Phone Intercom so that the visitor hears that they are being connected.
A PBX user can then answer the Door Phone Intercom call and will be immediately
connected to the visitor so that they can communicate. Communication is Loud and
Clear.
The Hang Up tone detection circuit will automatically terminate the Intercom call after
the user hangs up
If you have a LOCK MECHANISM fitted, you can open a gate or door lock during a
call to allow your visitor to enter, by simply pressing * * on your telephone keypad.
LOCK RELAY 2
(Optional)
If you use the Optional SECOND LOCK CONTROL FACILITY fitted, you can also
open an ALTERNATIVE gate or door lock during this call, by pressing * 2 on your
telephone. This command will release Gate Lock 2 until you Hang Up the telephone.
Pressing *3 can also close the second internal relay and leave it closed.
Pressing *4 can also open the second internal relay and leave it open.
The SECOND LOCK RELAY option can alternatively be used to START and STOP
another Device such as a VIDEO CAMERA, DISPLAY MONITOR, RECORDER or
to TURN ON and then TURN OFF a 12V LIGHT or a 115V Light (if a separate 115V
relay that is also supplied and installed by a technician or electrician).

CONNECTING THE DOOR PHONE
Our Door Phones all use a 4 Pin Phoenix Socket on the rear of the Door Phone for
Connection to ANY Natcomm Controller. A 4 Pin Phoenix Plug is supplied with all
Door Phones which allows 4 wires from the Door Phone to connect to the DS5 Plus
Controller. A solid core cable should be used to interconnect the devices. Cat5 cable
is ideal and will allow the units to be up to 300m apart without any loss of
performance.
Model DP1 DOOR PHONE
DP1 is designed to be mounted onto your wall surface. With DP1 this is done by
separating the Door Phone unit from the integral backing plate, secured by a
screw underneath the unit. The backing plate should then be screwed to the wall
surface, before re-attaching the Door Phone with the securing screw.

Surface Mounted onto your wall surface using the appropriate Surface Mount
Kit (SMK). Wall Mount Screws are supplied with all units.

If you plan to use the interface unit, then the terminals for the GREEN and RED wires
should be connected to the center 2 positions of the 4 position Phoenix Plug.
Power Connection – The Outer 2 Pins of the Door Phone Socket are the Power
Pair. They should connect to the 2 Pins either side of the Centre 2 pins of the 8 pin

CALL TERMINATION OPTIONS
DS5 Plus has a Hang Up tone detector that will automatically terminate Intercom calls
when they are complete. However, there are also 2 other methods of Intercom Call
termination:
1. BY THE USER PRESSING ANY TOUCH TONE (0-9)
The person answering the Intercom Call can terminate the Intercom call by pressing
ANY Touch Tone number (0-9) on their telephone keypad at the completion of their
announcement.
Note : # and * cannot be used to terminate a call.
2. AFTER A FIXED PERIOD OF TIME
DS5 Plus will terminate an Intercom call after a programmable length of time.
The default connection time for DS5 Plus is : 99 seconds.
You can change the Maximum Page Call Duration for any period of time between
10-99 seconds in Programming Mode.
These are back-ups in case any of the above methods fails to take place.
DS5 PLUS Hang Up tone detection is very reliable and you are very unlikely
to need either above option. They are provided in case DS5 PLUS is exposed
to significant EMI Interference which could possibly affect Hang Up tone
detection.
