What You Need
Connect the controller to an Ethernet network using Ethernet port 1 on the
controller front panel.
Use a standard Category 5 (CAT-5) or better Ethernet cable to connect the controller
to an Ethernet hub.
You can start setting up devices independently from NI InsightCM Server. However, to
complete the setup, NI InsightCM Server must be online. The following flowchart shows
how the device setup depends on NI InsightCM Server.
This document prompts you to complete the server-related steps when necessary to
continue setting up the device.
1. This document assumes the device is mounted as desired. For physical dimensions and
mounting instructions, refer to the Maintaining Hardware document, available by visiting
ni.com/info and entering insightcmdocs.
2. This document assumes the device is unwired. If the device is already connected to
the network, a power source, and sensors, proceed to step 4.
