WIND LOGGER
MODELS: WL11/WS, WL11/WDS
MANUAL
OPERATING
Sensors continuously measure and transmit data of wind speed, air temperature and wind direction (optionally).
Display unit receives data, calculates average values and stores them to the memory card. Current data, received
from sensor, as well as part of the wind speed history are presented on LCD display. All operating parameters can
be set using three keys on the receiver unit.
DISPLAYING OF DATA:
Shortly press key F to select between 4 pages
1. page - displays current wind speed, temperature, wind direction (optional), date and time
2. page - displays 7 days history of average and maximum wind speed
3. page - displays 24 h graph of hourly average wind speed
4. page - displays 24 h graph of hourly average temperature
SETTING OF PARAMETERS
Hold the F key pressed to enter the settings menu. Select the parameter you wish to change by using up and down
keys. Press the F key to enter in the selected parameter and change the value with up and down keys.
Press the F key to enter a new value into the permanent memory and move to the next parameter. When you have
set all the parameters, exit the settings menu by holding the F key pressed for 3 seconds.

SENSOR UNIT
Sensor unit switches ON automatically when the anemometer cups revolve. It switches OFF 6 hours after the
anemometer cups stop revolving. In ON state position it sends new wind speed data every two seconds. In
sleep mode the sensor does not transmits any data.
SENSOR ADDRESS
Correspondent sensor address has already been preset at the factory.
Always set the address correspond to the address of the sensor from which the receiver will receive data. Address
of the sensor is indicated on the label and in the interior of battery compartment.
DISPLAY AUTO OFF
Activate this mode in the setting menu to prolong battery life. Using this mode, the display switches OFF after
2 minutes of inactivity. All other functions stay active. Display switches ON with each press of the key.

SIGNAL RECEPTION
Reed LED blinks when the display unit receives a signal from the sensor (every 2 seconds if reception is good).
Signal strength is numerically shown in dB:
•-105 dB is approximately limit where display unit stops receiving
•-100 dB and lower means very week signal
•-95 ... -90 dB is considered as still acceptable
•-85 dB and higher is a good signal
When the sensor doesn't send data (in OFF state) or when the signal is lost for a more than 20 seconds, two
dashes appears on the display, indicating that the receiver doesn’t receive data from the sensor (sensor OFF or
out of range).
RANGE
Connection between sensor and display unit works on free 868 MHz band (optional 908MHz). Reach is up to 250
meters (1200 meters at “X” models) - at 10 m sensor mounting height and when there is no obstacle between the
sensor and the display unit. Inside buildings the range is much shorter. Normally the signal can be received
through two to three walls.
POWER SUPPLY
Receiver can be battery powered or external, via micro USB connector. In case of external powering it is
recommended to use battery as backup power source. This will ensure receiving and prevent system time reset at
mains interruptions.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Double blinks of LED diode marks that either - the sensor or the receiver battery should be changed.
When the sign “S” on LCD starts alternate with battery symbol, replace the sensor battery.
WS SENSOR:
Take off the battery cover on the bottom by turning it anti clockwise. Pull out the battery holder and insert new
battery (Lithium 3,6 V AA).
WSD SENSOR:
Loosen and remove the locking screw on battery compartment (horizontal cylinder) and pull out the plug. Pull out
the battery holder and insert new battery (Lithium 3,6 V AA). Return the plug and secure it with screw.
DISPLAY UNIT: battery symbol on LCD indicates the state of receiver batteries. Replace the battery if necessary.
Batteries are placed under the lid at the backside of the display unit. Use 1,5 V AA lithium battery to prolong the
operating time.
WIND DIRECTION VANE REPLACEMENT
Loosen the screw on top of wind vane holder with turn it anticlockwise. Remove vane from holder. Correctly insert
replaceable vane. In removed screw thread insert retaining compound. Insert screw in vane holder and turn it
clockwise until vane is fixed.
RESET OF DISPLAY UNIT
With lower button pressed while inserting batteries in display unit –RESET is performed (all settings except »Sensor
Address« and »Calibration factors« goes to default values).

STORING TO SD CARD
Data in .txt format are stored to SD card every full hour. Each data has date and time stamp.
Logging interval is selectable from 10 sec to 1h. Data are stored in the .txt format and are suitable for processing in
programs for working whit spreadsheet (Excel, Open office, etc...).
Mark “NA” in logged data present missed wind data for marked interval.
Mark “nW” in logged wind direction data present undefined wind direction caused of no wind speed.
There is a rare possibility that individual logged packets could be corrupt due to external causes.
It is recommended to eliminate them during processing logged data.
For each using of new type SD card it is recommended to test writing data to SD card.
STORE DATA FROM SD CARD
It is recommended to store data from SD card every month for preventing data loss because of empty battery in
receiver or other external factors.
DESCRIPTION OF DATA STORED ON SD CARD
[WS]: average wind speed in selected units and logging interval
[WSm]: maximum wind speed in selected units and logging interval
[WSt]: average temperature in selected logging interval
[WD]: average wind direction in selected logging interval
[dd/mm/yyyy]: day/month/year of created logged data
[hh:mm:ss]: hours:minutes:seconds of created logged data
EXAMPLE OF DATA STORED ON SD CARD
Example of logged first 15 wind data from WSD sensor in 10s logging interval. Average wind speed [WS] and
maximum wind speed [WSm] wind speed data are in units of m/s, temperature in degrees of celsius and wind
direction [WD] in degrees.
