Single-Q system
When the checkout process is so fast that it doesn’t merit the
use of a traditional ticket queuing system we use the Single-Q
system to direct the queue flow. Using a remote control the
workstation personnel calls the person next in line to their
workstation. A main display at the front of the queue,
together with sound and voice announcement, tells the
customer what workstation to approach. Each workstation
can in turn have a blinking indicator to further emphasize
where to go.
The remote control is used to call customers, configure and
link new remote controls to the system. A remote control can
also be linked using the link button directly on the receiver
central unit (the configuration section will explain further).
The image below shows you the basic concept of a Single-Q
system.

Hardware
The Single-Q system is a wireless remote controlled system that’s built around the central unit NQ
Receiver. The image below shows the structure of a full Single-Q system. The maximum number of
workstations is 32.
1. NQ Sound unit - Two different speaker units can be used, either a standard “gong”speaker
(item no.11200) or a voice speaker with prerecorded announcements (item no.11202). The
voice speaker can call two sequential prerecorded voice announcements for situations in
need of two languages.
2. NQ Receiver central unit –supplies powers the displays and speakers. All cabling is done with
standard cat 5. Used to link new remote controls and to configure the system.
3. Power supply - 100-240V~, DC output 12.0V
4. Nemo-Q TCD main display with buzzer (item no. 11603-71E) - Shows workstation number
and directional arrow. Has a small buzzer to use as the main sound announcement or as a
supplement to another sound unit. Buzzer can be turned off.
5. Nemo-Q TCD indicator displays - The standard NQ TCD can be used as a workstation indicator
showing the workstation number. The indicator shows the workstation number at all times
and when calling a customer the number flashes briefly.
6. NQ Remote control - Used for calling customers and configuring the system.
Frequency: 433, 46 MHz
NOTE: The sound units and indicators are considered optional. The system can be used without
them.

Hardware setup
All components are connected with standard cat5 network cables (E). The power supply has a
standard c13 power cable (C). Displays are hung using Nemo-Q pipes and connectors or wall
mounting brackets (F). Main display (D), indicators (F) and speakers (A) all run on the same cables
and can be serially connected. A Nemo-Q MOA modular splitter unit is used for systems with over 10
displays connected. NQ Receiver (B) and speakers (A) have holes for mounting on a wall or cable
channel mounting sheet.
NQ Displays
The main display is a special TCD with buzzer (item no. 11603-71E). Configuration of the dipswitches
is as followed:
Function dips = all off, address dips = value 33.
Indicators must be TCD displays. Configuration of the dipswitches is as followed:
Function dips = 4 on, address dips = the corresponding workstation number
NQ Receiver
We use a dipswitch to distinguish what system the NQ Receiver is working as. The dipswitch
configuration for the Single-Q system is as follows:
- All switches off, value of 0.
The image below and the labels on the NQ Receiver show you where the cables go.

Please take the time to get acquainted with the button
layout of the NQ Remote control in the image to the right.
Note: the hole indicates the top of the device.
Linking to a system
For your new NQ Remote to function,you must first link it to the system. This is to prevent your
remote from affecting other systems in the vicinity.
This can be done in two different ways; either by pressing the Link button on the receiver unit or by
using an already linked NQ Remote to add a new one to the system through the configuration menu
(see the Linking via configuration section).
Linking via NQ Receiver
To link a NQ Remote, using the Link button, you must
first locate the receiver unit. If you have any trouble
with this please contact your local reseller.
Once you have located the receiver you will find the
Link button to the left of the LED lights. Follow the
instructions below:
1. Press the Link button on the receiver.
The display will show this pattern.
2. You now have 10 seconds to press the back,
center and forward buttons in sequence.
3. As you press the buttons, the display
changes characters. When complete, the
display flashes YES. You can now move on to configure using the instructions that follow. If
you can't access the configuration you need to press the Link button and try again.
Linking via configuration
With NQ Remotes already linked to the system you can connect new ones through the configuration
menu. Please view the chapter on configuration to learn the logic of the menu, then come back and
read this part. Using the same logic as in the configuration section, access the configuration menu
and use the down button to get to the option NEW.
Pressing the forward button sets the system in the same link mode as when pushing the Link button
on the receiver. During this 10 second period you need to press the back, center and forward buttons
in sequence to link your remote.
Once linked, the configuration will jump to the first menu option, WSN, and your new remote will be
in control.

The basics
After you have linked the NQ Remote to the system, you will use it to access the configuration menu
and change the default settings. Each new remote that is linked to the system needs to access the
configuration to set what workstation it will represent and what directional arrow to display when
used. The main customer display or small LCD display on the receiver is used to view and configure
the system options.
Use the up / down buttons to navigate the menu

1. Press the center button four times on a linked in NQ Remote control to access the
configuration menu.
2. Once in the configuration, the display will show the first of the configurable options WSN
(workstation number). Press the up and down buttons on the NQ Remote to cycle through
the menu options.
3. Once the display shows the menu option you want to change, press the forward button to
access that option.
4. You will be shown the current value of that option. Again, use the up and down buttons to
change the value of the option.
5. Once you’re content, press the back button to return to the menu.
6. When you are done configuring, press the center button twice to exit the configuration. The
display will ask you if you want to discard your changes (N) or save them before exiting (Y).
Use the back button for NO and forward button for YES.
Configuration example
Below is an example of accessing the menu and changing the workstation number associated with
the NQ Remote control:

Menu options
The configurable settings are as follows:
WSN - Workstation number - each NQ Remote needs to be associated with a workstation.
ARO - Arrow - the arrow shown when calling a customer, linked directly to a remote.
MDB - Main display blink time - how long the main display will flash the workstation
number when calling a customer, set in seconds. Setting ON sets the display to always blink.
MDL - Main display lit time - how long the main display will stay lit after the blink time has
ended, set in seconds. Setting ON sets the display to always be lit.
WDB - Workstation display blink time - how long the workstation display will blink the
workstation number after calling a customer, set in seconds. Setting ON sets the display to
always blink.
ACT - Active time - after a set time the system will go to sleep, shutting down all displays
until some action is taken in the system, set in minutes. Setting ON sets the displays to
always be lit.
BUZ - Main display buzzer - set the buzz signal duration, set in tenths of a second.
SPK - Speaker settings - if you are using a standard gong speaker then this needs to be set
to off. If you are using a voice speaker note that each speaker has two voice messages that
can be customized. The following logic applies when using a voice speaker;
oSet value 1 –the system will speak voice number 1
oSet value 2 –the system will speak voice number 2
oSet value 3 –the system will speak voice number 1 followed by voice 2
oSet value 4 –the system will speak voice number 2 followed by voice 1
VOL - Speaker volume - sets the voice speaker volume, gong speakers have a hardware
volume control, set on a scale of 1-31.
TBC - Time between calls - define the delay time between calls, important that this time is
longer than the spoken message from a voice speaker, set in seconds.
NEW - Link a new NQ Remote - see the section on “Linking via configuration”.
Using the system
When the NQ Remote control is linked to the system and you
are content with the configuration it’s time to use the system.
For the Single-Q system you will only use the up button to call
customers. All other buttons are used solely for the
configuration procedure.

Easy-Q system
The Easy-Q is a simple queue management system that uses preprinted tickets to fill the most basic
of queuing needs. The system is comprised of three main components, including: the NQ Receiver,
the TCD main display and the wireless NQ Remote controls.
The display is set to correspond with the next number in the roll of preprinted tickets. This number
can quickly be changed using the remote control. Using the next button you call customers, making
the main display buzz and flash the number. If you call too many numbers you can simply back-track
the numbers using the remote control. Back-tracking numbers will not make the display neither buzz
nor flash numbers. The Easy-Q system can easily be upgraded to use workstation indicators that flash
the called ticket number together with a voice speaker that announces what workstation to
approach.

The Easy-Q system is a wireless remote controlled system that’s built around the central unit called
the NQ Receiver. The image below shows the structure of a full Single-Q system. The maximum
number of workstations is 32.
1. NQ Sound unit - Two different speaker units can be used, either a standard “gong”speaker
(item no.11200) or a voice speaker with prerecorded announcements (item no.11202). The
voice speaker can call two sequential prerecorded voice announcements for situations in
need of two languages.

a customer.
6. NQ Remote control - Used for calling customers and configuring the system.

All the cables used when installing are standard cat5 network cables (E). The power supply has a
standard c13 power cable (C). Displays are hung using the Nemo-Q pipes and connectors or wall
mounting brackets (F). Main display (D), indicators (F) and speakers (A) all run on the same cables
and can be serially connected. A Nemo-Q MOA modular splitter unit is used for systems with over 10
displays connected. NQ Receiver (B) and speakers (A) have holes for mounting on a wall or cable
channel mounting sheet.
NQ Displays
The main display is a special TCD with buzzer (item no. 11603-71E). The dipswitches are configured;
Ticket number display; Function dips = all off, address dips = value 33.
Workstation number display; Function dips=all off, address dips= value 34.
Indicators must be TCD displays. The dipswitches are configured;

NQ Receiver
We use a dipswitch to distinguish what system the NQ Receiver is working as. The dipswitch
configuration for the Easy-Q system is setting dipswitch 1 to on.

The configurable settings are as follows:
QNO - Queue number - sets the next number to be called.
WSN - Workstation number - each NQ Remote needs to be associated with a workstation.
ARO - Arrow - the arrow shown when calling a customer, linked directly to a remote.

usually 001.
HQN - Highest queue number - the highest queue number on the preprinted ticket roll.
ACT - Active time - after a set time the system will go to sleep, shutting down all displays
until some action is taken in the system, set in minutes. ON sets the displays to always be lit.
BUZ - Main display buzzer - sets the buzz signal duration, set in tenths of a second.

Using the system
When the NQ Remote control is linked to the system,and you are
content with the configuration, it’s time to use the system.
For the Easy-Q system you only use the up and down buttons to
call and back-track numbers. All other buttons are used solely for
the configuration procedure.

Hub-Q
For the regular and more advanced Nemo-Q queuing systems, using a NQHUB5 or NQHUB6, you can
connect the wireless system to utilize the remote controls instead of hardware and software panels.
Connecting a NQ Receiver into a NQHUB unit allows you to use up to 32 NQ Remote controls for
individual workstations.
Hardware
The hardware for using NQ Remote controls with a NQHUB system solely consists of the NQ
Receiver. No power adapter is used when connecting the NQ Receiver to a NQHUB. It uses power
directly from the NQHUB unit.
NOTE: No power adapter is necessary when connecting the NQ Receiver to a NQHUB.
Remote controls broadcast on frequency: 433, 46 MHz
Installation
NQ Receiver
We use a dipswitch to distinguish what system the NQ Receiver is working as. The dipswitch
configuration for the Hub-Q system is setting dipswitch 2 to on.
The image below and the labels on the NQ Receiver show you where the cables go.
1. Link button, used for adding new NQ Remote
controls to the system
2. Not used for Hub-Q
3. Connect directly to a NQHUB panel port
4. Not used for Hub-Q
5. No power is used for Hub-Q

Setup
Use a standard cat-5 network cable to connect the middle port on the NQ Receiver to a standard
panel port on the NQHUB unit. Default panel ports on the NQHUB are 1, 2 and 3.
