In dieser Anleitung finden Sie alle wichtigen Infor-
mationen für den Betrieb und die Pflege des Mikro-
phons. Weitergehende Informationen insbesondere

Kurzbeschreibung
Das TLM 49 ist ein Kondensator-Studiomikrophon
mit der Richtcharakteristik Niere und transforma-
torloser Schaltungstechnik (TLM).
Es eichnet sich aus durch extrem niedriges Eigen-
geräusch und höchste Aussteuerbarkeit, transfor-
matorlose Schaltungstechnik, sowie besonders
saubere, freie und verfärbungsfreie Klangübertra-
gung.
Einsprechrichtung
Das TLM 49 wird von der Vorderseite besprochen,
die durch das Neumann-Logo gekenn eichnet ist.
Stromversorgung
Das TLM 49 wird mit 48 V phantomgespeist (P48,
IEC 61938). Es sind alle P48-Speisungen geeignet,
die mindestens 3,2 mA je Kanal abgeben.
Anschlußbelegung
Das Mikrophon hat einen symmetrischen, übertrag-
erlosen Ausgang. Der 3-polige XLR-Steckverbin-
der hat folgende normgerechte Belegung:
Pin 1: 0 V/Masse
Pin : Modulation (+Phase)
Pin 3: Modulation (–Phase)
Störschallunterdrückung
Die Kapsel ist um Schut gegen Körperschallüber-
tragung elastisch gelagert. Da der Verstärker des
TLM 49 bis unter 20 H linear verläuft, können
auch extrem niederfrequente Signale unverfälscht
übertragen werden.

Short Description
The TLM 49 is a condenser studio microphone with
a cardioid directional characteristic and transfor-
merless (TLM) circuit technology.
It features extremely low self-noise and excellent
sound pressure handling capabilities, as well as
exceptionally clean, open sound transmission, free
of coloration.
Addressing the Microphone
The TLM 49 is addressed from the front side, dis-
tinguished by the Neumann logo.
Power Supply
The TLM 49 uses 48 V phantom power (P48, IEC
61938). Any type of P48 system which supplies at
least 3.2 mA per channel is suitable.
Pin Assignment
The microphone has a balanced, transformerless
output. The 3-pin XLR connector has the following
standard pin assignment:
Pin 1: 0 V/ground
Pin : Modulation (+phase)
Pin 3: Modulation (–phase)
Noise Suppression
Elastic mounting protects the capsule from struc-
ture-borne noise. The linear performance of the
TLM 49 amplifier to below 20 H permits even ex-
tremely low-frequency signals to be transmitted
without any coloration.

Andererseits ist das Mikrophon dadurch empfind-
licher für tieffrequente Störungen wie Körperschall
oder Pop- und Windgeräusche. Daher empfiehlt
sich eventuell die Verwendung einer elastischen
Aufhängung, eines Windschut es oder eines Pop-
schirmes.
However, this makes the microphone sensitive to
low-frequency noise such as vibration, pop and
wind noise. Therefore, if necessary, the use of an
elastic suspension, a windscreen or a pop screen
is recommended.

Anschluß- und Adapterkabel
Die akustischen Eigenschaften der Mikrophone
werden auch durch sehr lange (Neumann-) Kabel
nicht beeinflusst. Erst bei Kabellängen deutlich
über 300 m macht sich ein Abfall im oberen Fre-
quen bereich bemerkbar.
Neumann bietet ein vielfältiges Kabelsortiment
an, von dem hier ein Ausschnitt erwähnt wird. An-
dere Kabellängen sowie Kabelmaterial ohne Ar-
maturen sind auf Wunsch lieferbar.

Connecting and Adapter Cables
The electroacoustic properties of the microphones
are not affected even by very long (Neumann) ca-
bles. However, if cables are well over 300 m, a
fall-off in the upper frequency range becomes ap-
parent.
Neumann offers a wide range of cables. Only a se-
lection is presented here. Other cable lengths or
cable materials without connectors are available
on request.
