1. Introduction
a) Use
The ZAPI_HHC Handset enables the user to amend the
factory settings of certain ZAPI controllers.
The ZAPI_HHC must be used together with the cable
supplied.
Remark: Drawings and images in this ZAPI_HHC Handset
Manual may differ from your model
b) Warnings
Amending factory settings of a ZAPI controller can cause
material and physical injury. Therefore, the ZAPI_HHC
Handset must only be used by skilled, trained and authorized
staff.
The users of the ZAPI_HHC Handset must have access to
the user manual at all times.
Read this ZAPI_HHC Handset Manual carefully before
connecting, maintaining or using the ZAPI_HHC Handset.
Strictly follow the safety instructions in the controller
manufacturer’s maintenance manual prior to connecting the
ZAPI_HHC Handset to the controller.
Warning: Failure to comply with the instructions and
warnings in this manual could result in serious injury to the
user or other persons in the vicinity of the controller.
People working with the ZAPI_HHC Handset, and using
procedures, work methods or tools that are not described in
NOCO SHOP
this manual, are solely responsible for the safe and good
operation of the ZAPI_HHC handset.
2. General description
a) Components
The ZAPI_HHC Handset consists of 2 component types: the
Handset itself and the cable.
i. Handset: The Handset has a display, a 6-key keyboard.
ii. Cable: The ZAPI_HHC includes a separate cable.
3. Intended use
The ZAPI_HHC Handset is a diagnostic device that allows a
qualified repairer of ZAPI controllers to perform diagnostics on
certain types of industrial vehicle motor driving controllers.
Although we have made efforts to support as many controller
types as possible, it could be that certain controllers are not
supported.
Only use the ZAPI_HHC Handset as described in this Manual.
a) Correct operating conditions
The ZAPI_HHC Handset may only be used with an ambient
temperature between 0°C and 40°C (32°F – 104°F).
The user has to be a qualified repairer of ZAPI controllers.
The user must always have sufficient working space, in
order to prevent him from getting stuck between the vehicle

and a wall or other object.
b) Discouraged use
Do not use the ZAPI_HHC Handset on controllers which
show severe signs of damage.
4. Commissioning and safety
a) Warnings for each use
Be sure that the ZAPI_HHC Handset is only used by trained
staff. People that have insufficient knowledge of the
controller on which the ZAPI_HHC Handset is connected,
can make changes as such that the safe working of the
controller can no longer be guaranteed.
Prior to each use, all parts of the ZAPI_HHC Handset must
be checked for cracks or other damages. Don’t forget to
check the cable: it cannot show any signs of deformation.
Only use the ZAPI_HHC Handset when it is in a perfect
condition.
When connecting the ZAPI_HHC Handset to the controller,
both devices must be switched off. Connecting the devices
when powered on can lead to malfunction and possibly
dangerous situations.
5. Installation instructions
When connecting the ZAPI_HHC Handset to the controller,
following sequence must ALWAYS be used:
- Make sure that the vehicle is blocked up

- Make sure that the industrial controller is powered off
- Connect the cable to the ZAPI_HHC Handset
- Connect the cable to the service connector of the controller.
Refer to the service manual of your controller for the location of
the service connector.
6. Maintenance
The ZAPI_HHC Handset (including the cable) is an electronic
device and can be damaged by contact with liquids. Keep the
device away from liquids when using or storing it.
Only clean the device with a damp cloth. Do not use any
solvents, gasoline, strong detergents and other.
7. Storage
Store the handset ZAPI_HHC and cable in a dry frost-free
room.
