■Shared memory
Thephonehastwomemories.
The following features maysharethe
firstmemory: contacts, text messages,
multimediamessages (but no
attachments), audio messages, instant
messaging,groups,voicecommands,
calendar, and to-do notes. The second
sharedmemory is used by files stored
inGallery,attachments of multimedia
messages,e-mail,andJavaTM
applications.Useofoneormoreof
thesefeaturesmayreducethememory
available for the remaining features
sharingmemory.For example, saving
manyJava applications may use all of
theavailablememory.Yourdevicemay
display a message thatthememory is
full whenyou try to use ashared
memory feature. Inthis case, delete
someoftheinformation or entries
stored in the sharedmemory features
before continuing. Someof the
features,suchastextmessages, may
havea certainamount of memory
specially allotted to them in addition
tothe memoryshared with other
features.

Thepersonalidentificationnumber
(PIN)code and the universal personal
identification number (UPIN) code
(4 to8 digits)help to protect your SIM
cardagainst unauthorizeduse.

requiredforsomefunctions.

Thepersonalunblocking key(PUK)
codeandtheuniversal personal
unblocking key(UPUK) code (8 digits)
arerequiredtochange a blocked PIN
codeandUPINcode,respectively.
The PUK2 code (8 digits) is required to
change a blockedPIN2 code. Ifthe
codesarenot supplied with the SIM
card,contact yourlocal service
providerforthecodes.
Barring password
The barring password (4digits) is
required when using the Callbarring
service. See “Security”, p. 42.
■Configuration
settings service
Tousesomeofthe network services,
suchasmobileInternetservices,MMS,
NokiaXpressaudiomessaging,
or remote Internetserver
synchronization,yourphoneneedsthe
correctconfiguration settings.
You maybeabletoreceivethesettings
directlyas a configuration message.
Afterreceivingthesettings, you need
tosavethemon your phone.
The serviceprovidermay provide a PIN
that is needed to save the settings.

Whenyou have received a

If no settings aresaved yet,
these settingsaresaved andset as
defaultconfigurationsettings.
Otherwise, thephone asks Activate
savedconfigurationsettings?.
Todiscardthe received settings,
select Exit orShow >Discard.

TheSIMcardandits contactscan
easilybedamagedbyscratches or
bending,sobecareful when handling,
inserting, or removing the card.
Toremovethebackcoverofthephone,
presstherelease button (1), and lift
the back cover (2).
Ensure that thegold-colored contact
areaonthe SIM card is facing
downwards,and insert the SIM card
intotheSIMcardholderuntilitsnaps
intoposition(3).
Insertthebattery (4). Observe the
batterycontacts. Alwaysuseoriginal

Alignthe topof the back cover with

Whenyou disconnect the power cord
ofanyenhancement,graspandpull
theplug,notthecord.

Ifthebatteryiscompletelydischarged,
itmay take a few minutes before the
chargingindicatorappears on the

Thechargingtime depends on the
charger and the battery used.
For example,charging aBL-5B battery
with the AC-3 charger takes about
1 hourand 10minutes while the
phoneis in the standby mode.
