SaturnrIntegrated Gun Filter
Overview
The Saturn integrated gun filter is inserted into a specially-ported gun
manifold to ensure uninterrupted adhesive flow by trapping particles that
may cause nozzle clogging. It is designed for use with low viscosity
(under 10,000 centipoise) adhesive.

Filter Mesh Specifications
For proper operation select a filter with a mesh size close to half the size of
the nozzle as possible, but not more than half. The gun filter meshes come
in three sizes:
Mesh Type Mesh Size Ring Color
50 mesh 0.011 in. Red
100 mesh 0.006 in. Yellow
200 mesh 0.003 in. Purple
Installation
WARNING: The hot melt applicator, guns, and hoses contain electrical
voltage with potentials that could be fatal. Only qualified personnel should
operate and perform maintenance on this equipment.
WARNING: Wear safety glasses, safety gloves, and protective clothing to
prevent injury from hot applicator parts, splashed hot melt adhesive
material, and hot gun surfaces.
CAUTION: It is not necessary to disconnect any electrical connections
when installing a new filter assembly. However, do not allow the gun to be
supported only by its wiring, as this may cause the wiring to pull loose from
its connections.

Replacing a Filter
To install the gun filter in a system:
1. Heat the system to operating temperature, and then reduce input air
pressure to the pump to zero by adjusting the regulator.
WARNING: Failure to relieve system pressure can result in serious burns
when the gun filter connection is loosened.
2. Relieve system hydraulic pressure as described in the melter manual.
3. Disconnect and lock out input electrical power.
4. Insert a 5 mm hex tool into filter top, and rotate it counter clockwise.
Remove and discard the filter.

3. Gun body NOTE: Make sure that the replacement filter has the same color ring as the
filter being discarded.
5. Coat the threads of the new filter with Never Seez.
6. Insert the new filter into the gun body, and tighten using the 5 mm hex
tool to 1.35 -- 2.71 NSm (1 -- 2 ft-lbs).
7. Start the system as described in the melter manual.
