14. During this time, you may notice slight smoking or a slight odor; this is normal with most
new appliances. The smoking and odor is caused by the residues burning o the Nonstick
Griddle. Allow the appliance to preheat until smoke and odor no longer exists. It may take
a few uses for the excess residues from the nonstick coating to burn o completely.
15. While the appliance is preheating, you may prepare the
ingredients for the food to be cooked.
16. NEVER leave the appliance unattended.
17. When you are ready to pour batter into the Nonstick Griddle, open the unit and pour ¾
to 1 cup of batter into the center of the bottom griddle. You can help spread the batter
so that it lls the bottom griddle by using a heat-resistant plastic or wooden utensil.
18. Batter should be spread evenly across the four sections of
the bottom griddle. DO NOT overow the batter.
19. Close the griddle and wait for ve seconds, then rotate the Handle to the
right. Make sure that you are wearing an oven mitt at all times.

HELPFUL TIPS
NEVER leave the appliance unattended while operating.
• DO NOT touch hot surfaces. ALWAYS wear oven mitts
when operating this unit to prevent burns.
• Only use heat-resistant, non-metal utensils when operating this unit. Metal
utensils could scratch or damage the nonstick coking griddle.
• Please note that during the rst few uses, the unit may smoke slightly
and emit a slight odor. This is normal with most new appliances that
have nonstick coating. It will go away after further use.
Cooking Tips
• For healthier waes, subsitute whole grain our for white our.
• To keep waes crisp when reheating, always reheat in an oven instead of a
microwave. Preheat oven to 200˚ F and bake on a baking sheet or wire rack.
• DO NOT overmix batter. Batter should be slightly lumpy so
that waes will be light and uy when cooked.
• You can store batter in a tightly-sealed container and refrigerate. Refrigerated
batter will remain fresh for up to two days. Because cold batter will thicken,
you may need to add a little milk or water to the batter before cooking.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Please take care of your RETRO SERIES™ FLIP WAFFLE MAKER by
following these simple instructions. Cleaning is a snap.
• Make sure temperature is turned all the way down to MIN,
then unplug appliance cord from the outlet.
• Make sure the appliance is cool before removing the Drip Tray.
• Empty the Drip Tray.
• Clean Drip Tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
• Wipe the Nonstick Cooking Griddle and Stand with a damp, non-abrasive cloth and dry.
• To prolong the life of the coating on the Nonstick Cooking Surface, never stack objects
other than food on the wae maker and never use metal utensils to remove waes.
• Never put the appliance in a dishwasher.
It is that simple. Remember to lightly coat the Nonstick Griddle with
vegetable oil prior to cooking to preserve the nonstick nish.

RECIPES
Create mouth-watering waes of many varieties with your RETRO SERIES™ FLIP
WAFFLE MAKER. The waes made with your RETRO SERIES™ FLIP WAFFLE MAKER
should cook to a golden crisp on the outside and be soft on the inside. They
are delicious topped with fruit and whipped cream or butter and syrup.
Since it takes time for the dough to rise when making traditional belgian waes with
yeast batter, it is sometimes best to prepare batter the night before so that it is ready
to cook in the morning. You can also used boxed wae mix to make batter quickly.
