• You can set the friction to suit the weight of your camera. The set value is not changed by
locking and releasing the head.
• The ball in your ClassicBall does not need lubrication. Never apply grease or oil to the ball
head.
• Head operation is self-cleaning. Nevertheless, try to avoid getting sand or dust into the mech-
anism (wipe the ball with a clean, dry cloth).

we want to give you some tips on
how to use your ClassicBall right
from the beginning.

panoramic panning by turning
the ClassicBall upside down.
• Three 90° openings. Two of
these are in line, letting you make
a continuous 180° vertical sweep.

trol) for repeatable friction set-
ting

Mounting on a tripod
Use the threaded hole (5), to mount the ClassicBall
on any tripod with a 1/4“ thread size. To mount it on
a tripod with 3/8“ thread size, simply remove the
threaded bushing. You can mount your ball either the
„classic“ way or upside down.
To use the ClassicBall upside down, remove the grub
screw (1) and screw it into the threaded hole on the
bottom side (5). Now turn the CB3 II upside down
and screw it with the threaded hole in the support
plate (9) onto your tripod.
Safety instructions
• Never use any kind of lubricant on the moving parts of your ClassicBall!
• Never open the housing by force!
• Only take your hands off the camera when you are totally shure that it´s mounted safely!
• Extreme heat or cold can impair the proper function of ClassicBall!
• When changing the grub screws thread size (see page 3) it is very important to screw the
grub screw into the support plate as far as possible!
• When storing the ball head for a longer time, leave the locking lever (8) and the friction
control ring (3) in an open position!
Page 3
Release the ball
Turn the locking lever (8) to the left to release the ball. The preset friction (AFC) is not changed
by locking or releasing the ball. When storing the ball head for a longer time, leave the locking
lever in an open position!
Friction AFC – advanced friction control (braking)
Using the friction control ring (3) you can preset the friction (braking) exerted on the rotation of
the ball to a level you fi nd most comfortable for your camera weight. You have a choice of fi ve
diff erent levels. You can preset the friction level only if the ball is locked in position.
Vertical sweep
Three 90° cutouts in the housing of the ClassicBall let you sweep the camera vertically by up to
180° and then to turn it by 90° (at right angles to the vertical) to take pictures in portrait format.
360° - panorama panning
Stepless (panorama) panning can be halted in any position by simply turning the locking button
(4). With the upside down assembly, the correct leveling can be assessed with the help of the
spirit level (6), so that a panning is done exactly horizontally. The 360° panorama angle scaling
(7) serves to approach certain angular positions.
General hints
• In any position, the ClassicBall will support 5 Kg/ 11 lbs (CB 2), 8 kg /17.6 lbs (CB 3 II) or 12 kg
/ 26,4 lbs (CB 5 II)
• To get the full mobility benefi t of your ClassicBall, we recommend that you line up the two
opposite 90 degree portrait format cutouts in the optical axis.
• In this position you can easily sweep the camera vertically by 180 degree and into portrait
format. Benefi t: You don‘t have to get to this position via the integrated panning function. All
operating elements are always in the same place.
Tip: If the rotation of the lever is blocked by an object, it can be pulled out, twisted and
released again without changing its clamping.
Handling
Changing the thread size from 1/4“ to 3/8“
To change the grub screws thread size (1), unscrew it and remove it completely from the base.
Turn it around and screw it back into the support plate. To avoid damage to your camera, it is very
important to screw the grub screw into the support plate as far as possible!
Locking the ball in position
Turn the locking lever (8) to the right, to lock the ball in every possible position.
