1.4 STRUCTURE AND OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM
The System is a hardware and software unit that includes the SCs described
in 1.3.
The System sends a call from controllers of call buttons to the central unit (main
reception and control device) or repeater providing actuation of light and sound signaling
and displaying the address of the controller.
The System ensures:
a) controllers of call button send a call to RCD by pressing a call button; the RCD
displays the address and name of the controller initiated the call;
b) signaling device repeats light, sound and sound-light call signaling;
c) max. 32 controllers may be connected to one RCD via RS-485 network or four-
wire communication line;
d) RCD may display status of 1, 5, 10 or 32 controllers at the same time;
e) central unit or repeater have a function to reset sound call signaling;
f) call signaling may be reset from the place where the call was initiated or from
RCD;
g) RCD and repeater may display communication with controllers;
h) actuation of alarm signaling if communication with controllers is lost, or call
button connection is faulty;
i) 24/7 operation.
Depending on the type of control SCs, the System operates in one of the following
modes:
а) call signaling mode using RCD and controllers;
b) call bell signaling using a momentary push-button that powers a signaling
device.
RCDs of all types (except SCS-WP), and controllers of call buttons SCS-PK and
SCS-REF are connected via RS-485 interface and create local network of data exchange.
RCD types SCS-SPS-5, SCS-SPS-10 may operate via four-wire communication line.
RCD type SCS-WP allows for direct connection of a call button via four-wire
communication line and controls one direction (several units may be connected in series).
Depending on the places of installation the SCs may have IP22, IP56, IP66, IP67
types, and panel or wall mounting.

11 Version 0.2
SCS-1002
Hospital and refrigerator alarm system
The System operates in the following order:
а) a user initiates a call on a call button, the call is received at the watch officer
station and backup station (controllers or reception and control devices) where it actuates
local alarm signaling;
b) a user accepts a call and mutes (resets) sound call signaling on RCD, and then
heads to the place where the call was initiated;
c) once the user arrives, the call is reset, and the reason of the call should be
investigated.
Composition of the System depends on its type of application, see table 3:
а) to use the System in ship hospital, refrigerated holds or refrigerators in
accordance with figure 1;
b) to call a watch officer in accordance with figure 2;
c) to use the System as a call bell system in accordance with figure 3.

Functionality of RCD of SCS-SPS type:
a) controls signals from controllers of call buttons in RS-485 network or via four-
wire communication line;
b) provides sound and light address signaling if a call occurs in the network;
c) sound and light alarm signaling when communication with a controller of call
buttons is lost;
d) displays status of controllers of call buttons;
e) mutes sound signaling or resets call signaling depending on the design
assignment;
f) connection of external alarm;
g) backlight of controls and brightness dimming;
h) operation test of sound and light devices (only units where test key is pressed);
i) controls power supply to controllers of call buttons and repeater (depending on
the power supply scheme).
Two and more RCDs of SCS-SPS type may operate within the Systems with
network connection of buttons. One RCD is always a master device (controls signals),
and other devices are slave (operate as information RCD repeaters with a reset function).
RCDs of SCS-SPS type have similar controls and LEDs. For exterior, layout and
designation of controls and LEDs of RCD SCS-SPS-5, see figure 4. For description of

Each area of the screen may operate in one of the following modes or their
combination:
–no call (normal);
–call receipt;
–no connection with a controller;
–faulty call buttons or faulty communication channels with a call button.
All modes (except normal) may operate in active or reset status:
–active status is followed by flashing light and intermittent sound signaling; when
connection with the controller or call button is lost, the screen displays: No connection or
Button failure. If the screen displays No connection, a red crossed out frame appears
around the area; if the screen shows Button failure –only red frame;
–reset status is followed with constant glowing of the area, and for the modes of
lost connection –the frame of the area remains highlighted with red.
Once the call is reset or connection with the controller or call button is restored,
corresponding area returns to the normal mode.
2.1.3 Reception and control device SCS-WP
Functionality of SCS-WP:
а) to control signals from call buttons connected directly to RCD;
b) to initiate alarm immediately after a call button sends a call;
c) to control only one direction (via four-wire communication line);
d) to reset the initiated call or provide temporary mute of call signaling depending
the selected operation mode of RCD;
e) an option to connect external alarm;
f) to provide alarm signaling if connection with a call button is faulty;
g) backlight of controls with brightness dimming.

work of RCD operator. The unit functions as RCD repeater with an option to mute local
sound call signaling.
Note –The unit may be used as a repeater of RCD in repeater mode.
The unit has the same functionality and outfitted with the same controls and LEDs
as SCS-CU, except power on button (for connected units).
2.2 CONTROLLERS OF CALL BUTTONS
Controllers of call buttons are designed to detect a call from a call button and to
transmit it to RCD via RS-485 network.
