1 Overview
The ADS system is an integrated hardware device. This chapter gives a brief account of them.
1.1 Appearance
This section details the appearance, including front and rear panels, ofADS devices.
The interface model or quantity of real products may slightly vary with the batch or
model.
1.1.1 ADS NX3-2000 Series and NX5-4000/6000 Series
ADS NX3-2000 series, NX5-4000 series, and NX5-6000 series use the same hardware
platform, and therefore have the same appearance and hardware specifications. This guide
uses ADS NX5-4020 as an example to describe their appearance.
Figure 1-1 shows the appearance ofADS NX5-4020.

1.2 Power Supply
The ADS devices support both AC and DC inputs. Before delivery, the ADS devices are
configured with power modules. You can determine to use the AC or DC power module based
on the equipment room environment. If necessary, connect theADS device to two
independent power supplies to implement 1+1 power redundancy. In this case, even if one of
the power modules fails, ADS devices still operate properly. The power switch and socket
reside at the rear of the chassis, as shown in Figure 1-5.
Specifications of the AC Power Supply
Rated voltage range: 100–240 V AC; 50–60 Hz
Max output power: 450 W
Table 1-1 describes functions of AC power LEDs.
Table 1-1 AC power LEDs
LED
Description
AC On (yellow)
After the power supply is connected, the AC LED is on, indicating that the
power input is normal.
AC Off
After the power supply is connected, the AC LED is off, indicating that the
power is off, overloaded, or fails.
OK On (yellow)
After the device is started, the OK LED is on, indicating that the power output
is normal.
OK Off
After the device is started, the OK LED is off, indicating that the power is
overloaded or fails.

2 Preparations
Prepare the following before installing ADS devices:
Accessories supplied with the device
Before installation, verify the following items are included in the accessory box
delivered with the device:
−Straight-through cable: Used for network connections.
−Crossover cable: Used to connect a computer to the management interface ofADS
devices so that you can log in to the web-based manager to perform configurations.
−Power cable: One or two power cables for each device.
−Rubber pad: Cut into four pieces along the dotted line and attached to four angles or
tags of the device chassis to avoid abrasion.

−IP address: IP address reserved for ADS devices. You are advised to reserve both an
IPv4 address and an IPv6 address for an ADS device.
−Computer: Directly connected to the management interface of theADS device so that
you can log in to the web-based manager of the device in HTTPS mode for
management.
−Terminal software: Connected to the console port, for example, HyperTerminal
pre-configured in the Windows operating system.
−Browser: Verify that a web browser is available on the computer. IE 8.0 through 10.0
and Chrome are recommended.
