MR4: mini DVR Quick Start Guide
Overview
Congratulations on your purchase of the MR4 mini DVR!
The MR4 comes with a mini DVR and a PB1850P extended battery which can last up to 24
hours during typical use. By plugging in the 5V DC adapter, MR4 can achieve infinite
circular recording for surveillance use. If using 32GB memory card, MR4 can record arround
96 hours video.*
*Actual life and performance may vary depending upon usage and settings; battery not replaceable.

Circular recording – loop back recording once memory card is full
Time stamp – put time stamp on video
Frame rate adjustment – lower the frame rate to save memory space
Auto split le – split les for every 10 / 15 / 30 minutes, easily manipulated to Facebook,
YouTube, Twitter
Selectable day/night/auto mode – select day mode, night mode or auto to suit your
environment
Vertical Flip – record in either orientation
Auto daylight saving time(DST) adjustment
Support max 32GB microSD(TF) card (for better performance, use card with class 4 or
above and format the card before use).

Quick Start Guide
Charging
The MR4 mini DVR comes with an internal rechargeable battery. To use the mini DVR for the
first time or not using the mini DVR for a long time, remember to fully charge the battery
and resync the time by using the configuration tool (see section “Time synchronization and
custom settings conguration”). You can charge your mini DVR through the USB port of your
computer or the DC adapter.
To charge the battery through USB port, connect the USB cable to the USB port of the
computer and the mini DVR. For details, please see the status below. The mini DVR will
function as a mass storage device, you will not be able to record video at this moment.
To charge the battery through DC adaptor, connect the DC adaptor to the mini DVR. For
details, please see the MR4 mini DVR status below. Moreover, you will also be able to
record video while charging.
To charge the PB1850P extended battery, connect the extended battery charging cable to the
computer. For charging details, please see the PB1850P extended battery status.
WARNING: Do not charge the PB1850P extended battery while the MR4 mini DVR is
connected! Please charge them seperately.
Recording
The power button is located at the right side of the mini DVR. It can turn the mini DVR on or
off.
Start Recording
Press and hold the Power button for approximately 2 seconds until the green LED is on, and
then release the button. When you see the green LED ashing, the mini DVR is recording.
Otherwise, please see the status below.
Stop Recording
Press and hold the Power button for approximately 2 seconds until the green LED is off.
WARNING: Turn off MR4 mini DVR before removing card!

Connecting to computer
To connect the MR4 mini DVR to your computer, follow these instructions:
1 Connect the larger end of USB cable into an available USB port on the computer.
2 Connect the smaller end of the cable into the USB port of the mini DVR.
3 The mini DVR will appear in My Computer as _mini DVR.
Time synchronization and custom settings conguration
Download the configuration tool from the instructions in the software guide.
REMARK: If the time shown is year 2026 or beyond due to loss of Real Time Clock,
recording time will not be shown on video even timestamp is enabled. Please use
the conguration tool to resync the time and delete les in 2026 or beyond!
MR4 Mode switch
Switch between surveillance, on-the-go and custom mode. Default setting is shown below:

* Setting video quality to low, resolution to 320x240 and frame rate to low can have the longest
recording time, functioning similarly as a digital voice recorder.
** The recording mode cannot be changed after the mini DVR starts recording

To check the charging progress, press the button and the progress will be shown:
Indicator 1 Green LED on: 0 - 30%
Indicator 1 & 2 Green LED on: 30 - 60%
Indicator 1, 2 & 3 Green LED on: 60 - 100%
Using the MR4 with PB1850P
By using the USB cable, connect the MR4 mini DVR to PB1850P extended battery.

Green LED on: mini DVR is booted up
Red LED on: no card, card fail, battery low or card full (not in circular recording)
Green LED ashing: normal recording
Green / Red LED intermittent ashing: battery low and recording
DC adapter plugged in / Connected to PB1850P extended battery
Red LED ashing: charging
Red LED on: no card, card fail or card full (not in circular recording)
Orange / Green LED intermittent ashing: charging and recording
Green LED ashing: charging complete and recording
All LED off: charging complete and no recording

1 Increase the separation between the equipment and Z11 mini DVR.
2 Connect the equipment to a different outlet so that the equipment and Z11 mini DVR are
