Thank you for purchasing "SC-01L" mobile terminal.
Before and during use of your terminal, be sure to thoroughly read this
instruction manual to ensure you are able to correctly use your terminal.

Operation descriptions
In this manual, the operation steps such as the menu operations are simply
described as follows.
• Tap is an operation of touching lightly the display of the terminal with finger
(P.35).
(Example) For tapping "apps folder" from the Home screen and then tapping
(Settings icon), the operation is described as follows.

• In this manual, the operation steps and screen images are described in
default status. The operation steps or screen image on the terminal may
vary by the service you use or app you installed.
• This manual describes in the case of "Ocean Blue" as the terminal color
and "docomo LIVE UX" as the Home app. Home app can be switched by the
operation from the Home screen, tap "ホーム切替 (Change home)".
• An operation guidance screen may appear on the Home screen or the Apps
screen, etc. If "Do not show again", etc. option is displayed on the screen,
select the option to hide the screen from then on.
• The images and illustrations used in this manual are examples. They may
di󱐯er from the actual products.
• In this manual, function or setting that is available in multiple operations
are explained mostly with the easily understandable operation steps.
• In this manual, "SC-01L" mobile terminal is usually referred to as "terminal".

Aboutusageoftheterminal
• The terminal supports LTE, W-CDMA, GSM/GPRS, and wireless LAN.
• Because your terminal uses wireless transmission, it may not function in
locations where it is di󱐰cult for radio waves to penetrate, such as tunnels,
underground passages and some buildings, in areas where radio waves are
weak, or out of LTE service area and FOMA service area. Even when you
are high up in a tall building or condominium and nothing blocks your view
outside, your terminal may not be able to receive or transmit signals. Also,
communication may be interrupted even when the signal meter on your
terminal.
• Because your terminal uses radio waves to communicate, it is possible that a
third party may attempt to tap your calls. However, LTE, W-CDMA, GSM/GPRS
system automatically applies a condential communication function to all
calls, so even if a third party could somehow tap a call, they only hear noise.
• The terminal encodes voice communication as digital data. When you are
operating your terminal while moving to a location subject to weaker radio
wave conditions, the transmitted digital data may not be correctly decoded
and as a result the decoded voice may di󱐯er somewhat from the actual voice.
• Keep the data that you registered in the terminal separately by noting down
periodically or saving to microSD card, PC etc. Note that DOCOMO cannot
assume any responsibility for any loss of saved contents of data resulting from
malfunction, repair, changing of the model or other handling of the terminal.
• As with PCs, some user-installed apps or accessed websites may give the
terminal instability of this terminal operation, or may send your location
information or personal information registered to the terminal to outside via
the Internet and the information may be used improperly. Therefore, verify the
supplier and operating conditions of the apps or websites before use them.
• The terminal automatically performs communications for some functions, for
example, to synchronize data, check the latest software, maintain connection
with the server, etc.
Additionally, when you download apps or watch video etc., a large amount
of packet communication charges are executed. Therefore, it is highly
recommended to use packet pack or packet at-rate service.
• Depending on apps or services you use, a packet communication fee may be
charged even if you perform Wi-Fi communication.
• The terminal internal storage or the microSD card does not have enough
memory, running apps may not work normally. In such case, delete saved data.
• The Operating System (OS) may be upgraded due to improve the quality of
the terminal and add a function. For latest information of additional function or
operation steps, refer to NTT DOCOMO website.
Also some apps used for former OS may not work or unintended failure may
occur.
• In case of loss of the terminal, set the screen lock password ,etc. to ensure
the security of the terminal (P.135).
• If you lose your terminal, change password and disable certication of online
service accounts from PC so that Google Services such as Gmail, Google Play,
and SNS, etc. should not be used by others.
• For services and apps provided by any third party included Google LLC
thoroughly read the terms of use of Google LLC. NTT DOCOMO is not liable for
malfunctions, for any disadvantage brought to you caused by the app provided
by any third party included Google LLC you installed.
• If the terms of use, etc. appear, follow the instructions on the screen.
• Apps or services are subject to change without prior notice.
• The terminal does not support service providers other than sp-mode, mopera U
and Business mopera Internet.
• For details about usage fee, etc., refer to the NTT DOCOMO website.
• Although the display is manufactured with extremely advanced technology,
some dots may not be lit or be always lit. It is characteristic of the display and
not malfunction. Please be forewarned.
• This terminal uses an organic EL display. If the same images are displayed for
a long time, then afterimages may be generated on the display, but that is not
a malfunction. In order to prevent afterimages, do not keep on displaying the
same images for a long time. In addition, color and brightness unevenness, and
color changes may be seen depending upon the viewing direction. These are
due to the organic EL display's structure, they are not malfunctions.
• DOCOMO shall not be liable for commercially available optional equipment.

■ These precautions are intended to protect you and others around
you. Read and follow them carefully to avoid injury, damage to the
product or damage to property.

can occur if the product is not used within the specied guidelines.

when the equipment is continuously being used for prolonged

If you use apps, make calls, perform data communications, watch
TV or videos, etc. while charging the battery for a long time, the
temperatures of the product and the adapter may rise.
Directly touching a hot part for a long time, you may have redness,
itching or rash on your skin, or it may result in low-temperature
burns etc. depending on your constitution and/or health condition.

Do not look at a ashing screen for a prolonged period.

as cutter blades and staples) into docomo nano UIM card/
microSD memory card tray.
Please do not mistake the insertion location and direction of
the docomo nano UIM card or microSD memory card.

Do not expose the camera lens to direct sunlight for a
prolonged period.
The light-gathering capabilities of the lens may cause re, burns,
injury, etc.
Do
When boarding an airplane, turn the terminal OFF or turn
airplane mode on.
As there are usage restrictions in an airplane, follow the
instructions from the airline.
Failure to do so may cause airplane electronic equipment to fail or
malfunction by radio wave.
If you commit any prohibited acts, such as using the phone in an
airplane, you will be punished in accordance with the law.

Do
When using the terminal in a medical facility, follow the
instructions of the facility.
Turn the terminal OFF in areas where use is prohibited.
Failure to do so may cause electronic equipment or electronic
medical equipment to fail or malfunction by radio wave.

When using the hands free call, ringtone is ringing loudly, or
in the standby mode, be sure to keep this terminal o󱐯 of the
ears.
And, when connecting the earphone/microphone, etc. to the
product and play a game, video or music, etc. adjust the
volume moderately.
If you set the terminal to hands free and make a call, a loud noise
will emanate from the terminal.
Even during standby, a ringtone or an alarm may sound suddenly.
Using the terminal continuously for a long time at a loud volume
may cause hearing loss, etc.
Also, having the volume too loud may prevent you from hearing
sounds around you and might in turn lead to a tra󱐰c accident.
Do
If you have weak heart, be careful when setting the vibrator
(vibration) or ringtone volume setting.
The vibrator (vibration) or ringtone suddenly activating or ringing
may a󱐯ect your heart.

When you use electronic medical equipment, check with the
equipment manufacturer to determine how the equipment is

around you, rmly grip your terminal and do not swing it more
than necessary.

If display part is accidentally broken and internal substance
leaks out, do not make the substance contact with your skin
of face or hands, clothes, etc.

If the substance gets into your eyes or mouth, etc. or comes
into contact with your skin or clothes, rinse with clean water
immediately.
And if it gets into your eyes or mouth, etc., rinse with clean water
and seek medical care immediately.

Do not dispose with regular trash.
May cause re, burns or injuries, etc. Environmental damage may
also be caused. If the terminal becomes no longer needed, bring
it to an outlet such as the docomo shop or follow the instructions
given by the collecting municipalities.

Should the substance inside the internal battery leak, avoid it
from coming in contact with your face, hand or clothes.
May cause loss of sight or skin problems.
If the substance gets into your eyes or mouth, etc. or comes
into contact with your skin or clothes, rinse with clean water
immediately.

symptoms of epilepsy, such as dizziness, convulsions, loss of
consciousness, or fainting, consult a doctor before using the
iris authentication function.

When you remove docomo nano UIM card, be careful of the
nib of SIM ejector tool or paper clip.

To use the terminal in car, check with automobile
manufacturer or dealer to determine how the device is
a󱐯ected by radio waves before using.
Using the phone in some vehicle models can cause the vehicle's
electronic equipment to malfunction by radio wave. In that case,
stop using the terminal immediately.

If you develop skin problems, stop using the phone
immediately, and seek medical check.
Mobile phones can give some users skin problems such as itching,
allergic reactions or rashes.

Be sure to check that there are no metal fragments (such as
cutter blades or staples) adhered to the magnetic parts used
in the ear piece/speaker, rear camera and speaker of the
terminal.
Adhesion of such fragments may cause injury.

Watching the display in the dark or watching too close may cause
reduced visual acuity, etc.

When it starts to thunder, do not touch the adapter or the
wireless charger.

Do not short the charging jack while it is connected to the
outlet or accessory socket. Do not touch the charging jack

■ SC-01L (including S Pen SC02) is waterproof/dustproof, but do
not allow liquids (drinking water, perspiration, sea water, pet urine,
etc.) such as water, etc. or dust to seep into the terminal and do
not allow accessories or optional devices to get wet or dusty.
Adapter, wireless charger, docomo nano UIM card and external TV
antenna cable are not waterproof/dustproof. Do not use them in a humid
place such as bathroom or in the rain. If you carry your terminal on your
body, perspiration may corrode the internal parts of the terminal and
cause malfunction. Note that malfunctions deemed to be caused by
water are not covered by the warranty. Since these malfunctions are not
