PREINSTALL CHECKLIST
These instructions assume that certain
requirements have been fulfilled prior
to installation. It is recommended that
you call the customer and confirm that
the following are in place before
arriving onsite:
□Network connection and cable are
available/tested and ready for the
installation to the printer
□Assigned IP address or DHCP?
□Location for the printer has been
cleared and ready to receive printer
□PC is available and setup to install
drivers and software. Order of
preference:
•WinXP with Photo Finale Lab
(PFLAB)
•WinXP with Print Station
•Any WinXP computer
*Only schedule setup, when customer has WinXP.
□PC should be able to contact printer’s
IP address
□Open ports between PC and printer
•SNMP (port 161)
•HTTP (port 80)
•LPR (port 515)
□ES-1000 (Eye-One) Spectrometer to
calibrate printer
□Equipment (EQ-9800, paper trays and
sample media)
2SETUP PRINTER
Setup the printer, install the media and
calibrate the printer. When finished,
print a configuration page to ensure
that the printer is working.

Install the media in the following trays
locations:
TO PRINT A CONFIGURATION PAGE:
1. Press ENTER to switch to the menu
mode.
2. Use the Tkey to scroll down to
Print Pages. Press ENTER.
3. Use the Tkey to scroll down to
Configuration. Press ENTER.

3ASSIGN AN IP ADDRESS TO
THE PRINTER
If you are not using DHCP, you need to
obtain an IP Address from your
network Administrator and enter it
using the front panel:
1. Confirm that the printer displays
[Ready to print].
2. Press Tkey until [Admin Setup]
appears. Press ENTER.
3. Continue to Setup? displays.
Press ENTER to select Yes. The
printer goes offline and Running
Setup displays. This will take about
a minute.
4. The Setup Menu displays, press T
to select [Network Setup]. Press
ENTER.
5. Press Tto select [Protocol
Setup]. Press ENTER.
6. Press Tto select [TCP/IP Setup].
Press ENTER.
7. Press Tto select [Ethernet
Setup]. Press ENTER.
8. [TCP/IP Ethernet] displays.
Select Yes and press ENTER.
Enable AutoIP Config? displays.
Select No. Press ENTER.
9. The default IP Address displays.
Use ▲/Tto change each octet.
Press ENTER to proceed to the next
octet or to leave the octet
unchanged.
10. [Subnet Mask] displays. Repeat
instructions in step 9.
11. [TCP/IP bound to Ethernet]
displays. Press ENTER.
12. [Gateway Address] displays.
Repeat instructions in step 9.
13. Press ENTER to exit TCP/IP Setup,
Protocol Setup, and Network
Setup.
14. Select Yes and press ENTER to Save
Changes. Press ENTER to Exit the
Setup Menu.
15. Printer restarts the server and
initializes. [Ready to Print]
displays.
4CONFIGURE PRINTER
Press ENTER to switch to the menu

down to the item you wish to

10 INSTALL EYE-ONE DEVICE
Plug the Eye-One (ES-1000) device
into an available USB slot.

11 CALIBRATE PRINTER

Server menu. CWS4 will start
searching for Fiery servers. Choose
the device that matches the correct
IP Address.
3. Click the Login button next to the
Fiery name to establish the
connection.
4. Select the Administrator option
and then click Log In.
5. Choose Manage Color from the
Server Menu.
6. Click on Calibrator.
7. For Select Method, choose ES-
1000 Spectrometer from the drop
down menu.
8. For the Screen Setting, choose
12x6 Dot Screen from the drop
down menu.
9. Click Print.
10. On the Print Options Menu, keep
the defaults and click Print. A
