1. RISK EVALUATION
The matters of following pages refer to a classic use of lifting brackets and they can’t forecast unspecified
applications. For this reason each user must provide to his own risk evaluation and he must consider this
manual as general reference support and as a summary of possible matters. To define the employ-procedures,
to spread information and to check the compliance of these ones it’s a duty and a responsibility of the user.
The lifting brackets have to be used as couplets for ropes and chains and they allow users to make on safety
the following actions: LIFTING, HANDLING; the material, the production and the quality-check of all OMCR
lifting pins comply with the Directive 2006/42/EC requirements; all OMCR lifting elements have been tested
with a static safety factor even to a minimum 1.5, all materials have been analyzed according to UNI EN 10204,
samples of all materials have been subjected to tensile stress test according to UNI EN 10002.
Calculations and Risk valuations are in compliance with BMW norm B2.5605.012.
2. SYMBOLS AND WARNINGS CLASSIFICATION
Before using the lifting bracket pay close attention to this USE and MAINTENANCE MANUAL. An improper or
other use of the parts then mentioned and described in this manual, releases OMCR from any responsibility.

Prior to assembly check the correct torque to tighten the screws. In the table below you will find the
different types of screws and the related torque in order to mount the lifting brackets. It is required/
to use LOCTITE 243 or lock washers to secure the screws. The necessary screw in depth is 1
x diameter of the screw and it needs to be mounted to steel (minimum quality Fe510, S355).
Example: for a M36 screw the minimum screw in depth is 36mm.

Before each lifting, handling or overturning application of the die make sure that the lifting
brackets are mounted correctly! The lifting bracket HAS to be mounted with the safety ring
positioned in direction of the die axis: after inserting it, be sure that the safety ring is mounted
correct so that an accidental extraction of the pin is impossible; check the movement of the
safety ring by verifying the eccentricity “E” in reference to the pin (see Pic.5).

In case of a lifting or moving application, the load capacity of the lifting bracket has to be at least half of the
entire die weight. (upper half-die + lower half-die).
For example: die weight 28.000 kg - minimum lifting bracket capacity load: 28.000 / 2 = 14.000 kg
When lifting and overturning a half-die, the minimum load capacity of the bracket must be at least 1/2 of the
weight of the half-die.
For example: half-die weight 16.000 kg - minimum load-bearing capacity of bracket: 16.000/2 = 8.000 kg

5. MAINTENANCE
5.1 Once every 6 month check the lifting brackets and pins for visible damage or oxidation. In case of damage
or oxidation restore or replace the lifting brackets or pins.
5.2 Once every 12 month check the lifting brackets and pins for any noticeable permanent deformation or
damage (see Pic.10); it is sufficient to verify that the pin rotate freely on its axis inside the bracket.
5.3 In case of unexpected failure of lifting ropes/chains with a consequent overload on the lifting pins, check
their cilindricity (see Pic.10) to notice potential deformations; in case of deformation over 0,3 mm replace the
pins; replace the mounting screws and check the correct torque to tighten the screw according to the values
mentioned within this manual.
5.4 In case of accidental impacts on the lifting elements during the lifting, handling and overturning operations,
check the cilindricity of the pins (see Pic.10); in case of deformation over 0,3 mm replace the pins; check
eventual deformations on the lifting brackets and, if noticed, replace them; replace the fixing screws and check
the correct clamping couple of the screws according to values indicated on the table.
