FCC Information
FCC Part 15
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with
the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. The unit may
malfunction when there is radio interference appeared on the power line/signal line. The unit will revert to normal operation when the interference stops. If this equipment does cause
harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of
the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
You are cautioned that any changes or modifications not expressly approved in this manual could void your authority to operate this equipment.
FCC Part 68
This equipment complies with part 68 of the FCC Rules. On the bottom of the back of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC Registration Number and
Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment. You must, upon request, provide this information to your telephone company.
The REN is useful to determine the quantity of devices you may connect to your telephone line and still have all of those devices ring when your telephone number is called. In most, but not
all areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed five (5).
Your telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures that could affect the proper functioning of your equipment. If they do, you will be notified
in advance to give you an opportunity to maintain uninterrupted telephone service.
If you experience trouble with this telephone equipment, the telephone company may ask you to disconnect this equipment from the network until the problem has been corrected or until
you are sure the equipment is not malfunctioning. This equipment may not be used on coin service provided by the telephone company. Connection to party lines is subject to site tariffs.
This device contains no user serviceable parts. For service or repair send to:

Industry Canada Information
NOTICE: The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets telecommunications network protective, operational and safety
requirements as prescribed in the appropriate Terminal Equipment Technical Requirements documents(s). The department does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user’s
satisfaction. The unit may malfunction when there is radio interference appeared on the power line/signal line. The unit will revert to normal operation when the interference stops.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installed
using an acceptable method of connection. The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinated by a representative designated by the supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment
malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected
together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas. Caution: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric
inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate.”
An explanatory note on Ringer Equivalence Numbers (see Section 10.0) and their use must be provided for the terminal equipment user in the information accompanying the terminal
equipment. A notice similar to the following would be suitable:
“NOTICE: The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone
interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the ringer equivalence Numbers of all the devices does
not exceed 5.”

MessageStudio Writer Software
Creating an On-Hold Audio Script
To assist you in writing your on-hold audio script, the MessageStudio software
includes a fun and easy scriptwriting utility called MessageStudio Writer. This
utility may be accessed from the main screen of the software by clicking on the
"Write Msg." button (located at the bottom right of the screen). Even if you’re
not a Madison Avenue copywriter, you’ll find the process quick, easy and fun.
Just by asking a few questions, the intuitive software will create several choices
of beginning and ending sentences for you. Simply click on your choices, add a
sentence or two of your own, and you’re done...it’s that easy.
Your finished script can either be read by you or submitted to On-Hold Plus for
professional voice-over of your custom messages.
Professional Production Services from On-Hold Plus
On-Hold Plus offers complete, professional production services featuring
"national broadcast quality" voice talent. Your finished on-hold messages (four
30-second message segments) can be e-mailed or sent to you on a CD-ROM. Your
messages will be sent to you within 7 to 10 working days (e-mail delivery) or 10 to
15 days (CD-ROM delivery) from receipt of your script. Using the MessageStudio
Player, you will add these professionally voiced message files to the program's
message folder for playback with your choice of background music.
To submit your script to On-Hold Plus for professional production, just follow
the step-by-step instructions in the MessageStudio Writer software.

will run on any Windows (95, 98, 2000, NT & XP) - based PC with
a 486 or better processor and a 16-bit sound card.
This easy-to-use software allows you to simply and easily create
new on-hold message productions any time you wish. You may record
new messages in your own voice (using a mic hooked up to your PC sound card)
or have messages professionally produced by On-Hold Plus or any other
professional voice talent (see MessageStudio Writer on the following page).
When your production is finished, you will record it into the digital flash memory
in your OHP 4500. For details on recording into the OHP 4500, see the "Auto
Recording" section in this manual.
MessageStudio works with any .WAV or .MP3 audio file. There are 20 different
music files as well as a choice of professionally voiced "thanks for holding..."
messages included with the MessageStudio software.

For true "hold button activation" of on-hold audio, each phone extension
requires a "hold music activator". Two activators have been included in your
package. If you require additional activators for other phones, contact your
reseller or visit www.onholdplus.com to purchase them on-line. Most phones
without activators are able to engage the hold music feature by pressing
** (star key twice) on the telephone keypad and then (optionally)
immediately pressing the HOLD button on the phone.
Telephone Extension Hold Music Activators (TEHMA)
Corded telephone connection
Remove coiled handset cord from base of phone.
Plug short phone cord (supplied) into the "hold music activator" (side marked "B")
and other end to phone base.
Plug end of coiled cord (connected to handset) into jack on the hold music activator
(side marked "A").
NOTE:
After connecting, if you can not hear the dial tone (handset sounds "dead"),
unplug the TEHMA and reconnect it in the opposite direction.
System test (if test fails, see troubleshooting guide)
From any phone in the office with a "hold music activator" attached, dial an
outside phone number (a cell phone works fine).
Place the call on-hold using the HOLD button on the telephone.
Return to call and confirm that the on-hold audio was present on the line while on-hold.
Using the volume control on the rear of the unit, adjust the volume to proper level.
IMPORTANT: Excessive volume may cause the on-hold audio to shut off during
playback.
Deactivating hold music manually
If, for any reason, the hold music is activated inadvertently, it can be deactivated by
pressing any key on your phone's dial pad.
Phones with "speakerphone" or "mute" functions
Telephones with "speaker phone" or "mute" function can fool the unit into thinking that
the line is on hold. If this occurs press any key on your phone's dial pad to deactivate the
music. Pressing a key will deactivate the feature for the remainder of the call.

We were just wondering
It’s been awhile…actually quite awhile since you sent in your product’s
registration form. Sending in your registration form was the first of
three steps in getting your custom on-hold message production about
your business.
Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger
When you sent in your registration you probably had every intention of
sitting down and putting together you script…tomorrow. Don’t feel
bad; thousands of well-intentioned On-Hold Plus customers like your
self have never made it past first base.
We know that the prospect of an affordable, immediate opportunity to
promote specials, establish corporate identity, and educate your
customers about new products and services probably has you
paralyzed with guilt. We’ll, we can help you loose the burdensome
cloak of guilt and create a custom on-hold audio presentation for your
company all at the same time! Yeah, we’re that good.
The cold harsh reality
If you’re like most busy professionals, you simply don’t have the time
to devote to one more project. Hey, no worries – with our Custom
Deluxe Option, we’ll write your script for you! So there’s really no
reason to put it off any longer…and better yet, we’ll let you apply the
value of the custom production certificate that came with your unit
toward this special “let’s get the darn thing done now” production
package.
But wait there’s more
In the great tradition of the “Gunsu knife” we’ll throw in one extra
goodie. Purchase a deluxe special “let’s get the darn thing done now”
production package by _______, we’ll do a special holiday version of
your production (a $50 value) absolutely free!
The gigs up
Give us a call; today, not tomorrow (we’ve already been through this
“
tomorrow” thing and we both know that it just doesn’t work.) and
well help you through this difficult time, but with much less tongue in
cheek and sarcasm.
You can reach us at production services at 800-839-7277…it will be
the highlight of your week (maybe even your year if you don’t get out
much!)

For true "hold button activation" of on-hold audio, each cordless phone requires the
use of a telephone headset (not included) in conjunction with a "hold music activator".
Two hold music activators and headset adapter cables have been included in your
package. If you require additional activators for other phones, contact your
reseller or visit www.onholdplus.com to purchase them on-line. Most phones
without activators are able to engage the hold music feature by pressing the **
(star key twice) on the telephone keypad and then (optionally) immediately pressing
the HOLD button on the phone.
Telephone Extension Hold Music Activators (TEHMA)
Cordless telephone connection
Using the "cordless phone adapter cable (male)," plug the end of the cable with
the phone connector into the jack on the hold music activator marked “B”.
Connect the headphone jack side of the cable to the cordless phone’s headset jack.
Using the "cordless phone adapter cable (female)" plug the phone connector side of
the cable to the end of the hold music activator marked "A" and then plug the
headset to the other side of the connector cable.
System test (if test fails, see troubleshooting guide)
From any phone in the office with a "hold music activator" and a headset
attached, dial the phone number of another phone (a cell phone works well).
Place the call on-hold using the HOLD button on the telephone.
Return to call and confirm that the on-hold audio was present on the line while
on-hold.
Using the volume control on the rear of the unit, adjust the volume to proper level.
IMPORTANT: Excessive volume will cause the on-hold audio to shut off during playback.
Deactivating hold music manually
If for any reason the hold music is activated inadvertently, it can be deactivated by
pressing any key on your phone's dial pad.

in your OHP 4500. For details on recording into the OHP 4500, see the "Auto
Recording" section in this manual.
MessageStudio works with any .WAV or .MP3 audio file. There are 20 different

You can reach us at production services at 800-839-7277…it will be
the highlight of your week (maybe even your year if you don’t get out
much!)

15 days (CD-ROM delivery) from receipt of your script. Using the MessageStudio
Player, you will add these professionally voiced message files to the program's
